@@robshipley7543 I really appreciate the note. Yeah the older I get the more I want to be hunting away from other people. Something so special about the big woods with low hunter pressure. I just had a couple new hard horned bucks show up on cam last night in some different areas. Good luck this fall!

No food plots, no bait piles and no land trust or public park permits. True Hunting!! You are one of the few left! Great content!!

I have done well hunting aspen clear cuts in northern Minnesota. It helps if you can find the major in/out deer trails of the cut on the edge of other habitat types.

It would be cool to see your view from the stand and how you are looking down at the trails. Thanks for the videos!

Yeah, I'd be setting up at least one spot in them ash clear cuts. For whatever reason they do more Aspen clear coats around here. But it never fails, I see more deer in them areas than any place. Got a couple spots set up this year. Hoping they produce what I'm looking for. Tough sledding though. And damn near impossible to get you off the ground any place. But activity is mind-boggling. We'll see. Thanks, as usual bro.😊

Hey buddy, I’ve got a question for ya. Do you think it is worth taking the land loan for hunting property in a neighboring state (2-3) hour trip if it means getting a lot more acreage for a much lower price?

Those grassy opening sure are great. Got my biggest northwoods buck in one of those.

I'd assume I'm in identical woods as you being in permit area 169. When online scouting can you find these grass pockets easily or is it more boots on the ground? When hunting them is it an all day sit for you? Have you noticed a more success with larger grass pockets or smaller pockets?
It makes sense, I always find the deer on the edges of the transitions as you describe.

We are close! It can be really tough to find these grass pockets online via Google Earth. Sometime you can but usually the canopies obscure it from an aerial view. You really need to get boots on the ground and scout them in the fall or springtime. Summer is tough to scout these. We do all day sits in areas like this during the peak of the rut. Regarding the size of the grass pocket, bigger is generally better however what’s even more important is hunting the better deer sign. I would pick the grass pocket with the best trails running through it, regardless of opening size. Historical rubs and fresh tracks on a beat-down trail are a sure sign. Hope you have some luck this fall!

@@johnallen7398 at one point I did a pan thru the swale. Probably should have done a little more of it tho.
