This isn't about losing a daughter. Without giving too much away in case you react to the rest of the album later, this is part of story in their 2000 concept album "Scenes from a Memory". You'll need to listen to the whole album to get the context. By the way, "The Spirit Carries On" which you reacted to earlier is also part of the same album. They performed the whole album from start to finish on this tour and in fact just recently had a 20 year anniversary of the album release where they again performed the whole album as part of the 2nd set on their tour.
This is a song from my favorite album of all time. I shared it with my now deceased son, who died 10 years ago, in his twenties...whom I still adore and will never leave him absent from my thoughts and feelings. Thanks for reacting to this song. From Santiago, Chile...a big bear hug!
If you recall the lyrics from The Spirit Carries On: "Victoria's real, I finally feel, At peace with the girl in my dreams". That's the same Victoria that's being referenced referenced on the headstone. You have to listen to Scenes From A Memory from start to finish to get the whole story. It's a true rock opera with an incredible story that never disappoints.
NO way! OMG! You really made a reaction to the Live Scenes from NY?! This version is by far the best they ever came up with. After all these years, i'm still crying when John does his solo. Thx guys
Victoria is a fictional character in the story that takes place in the concept album "Scenes of a Memory" by Dream Theater (1999). The story is unexpectedly very original and surprising. If Pink Floyd has the wall, Dream Theater has this one. To understand the story you must listen to it from beginning to end, hopefully the entire live concert of this album "Scenes from new york" (metropolis 2000). Greetings
@@51nw because he is smart and not dumb by introducing them to stupid songs they won't get like Dance of Eternity or Octavarium? They obviously are blown away by these songs because THESE songs are what make DT stand a part more than anything bc they can do all of it...this is a BRILLIANT way to intro them to DT...glad you aren't the one requesting
@@captainmorgan1978 Captain Morgan himself. Absolutely agreed, those are 10/10 intro songs into DT. Even most of us hard core DT fans don't actually "enjoy" listening to the Dance of Eternity, as much a feat of musicianship as it is
@@MechMonstrosity Don't know about that. My first Dream Theater song was A Change of Seasons, and I didn't appreciate it. I am still not a big fan. But my second song, Home, made me fall head over heels in love with them and made me want to listen to the whole album. It depends on the person... Not everyone is afraid of some incredibly technical and masterful music in their life.
Impossible unless you hear it from the beginning friends. It’s a regression memory brought on by hypnosis. A man that is looking through the eyes of a woman who was tragically murdered a couple generations earlier. I’ve listened to this album dozens of times and I’m still trying to unravel it all! 😂
I am so happy you found these guys. The song your listening to is from a theme album. Through her eyes is about a dream a guy is having of a woman who was murdered and he is solving the case. The Spirt Carries On was also on this album
Well know you HAVE to listen to the full album! And see the metal the power, the epicness, and everything else. Its good to start the way you did, now you wont believe they have the other side as well
You guys definitely need to listen to the whole album. It's a full concept album. Metropolis Pt. 2 Scenes from a Memory. Listen to the whole album. Also, they have incredible progressive metal songs as well. Glass Prison, Lost not Forgotten, Outcry, As I Am. The list goes on and on. They are an incredibly talented band coming out with their 16th studio album soon!! Can't wait. Count of Tuscany, In the Name of God, gotta listen to that song!!
DT... dream theatre.... deep thought. An excellent group. The earlier you go in their catalogue the more complex the music (time canges) and "Heavy/Progressive" they are.
ohhh i loved this videos!!!!!! The shong is a part of a story, the entire album is a story of love, murder and pain. There are some chapters and this song is a chapter of the story. i cry with this guy in the reaction of "The spirit carries on"
this one is part of a concept album where the whole thing tells a single story, each song is like a chapter... listen to instrumedley live at budokan guys, it is amazing ;)
Question Wolfe, how you going to bridge the gap? You started beautifully, but what is the transition songs you will pick to turn them to the "PROGRESSIVE METAL" side of who they are...transition time! lol Maybe Lifting Shadows, To Live Forever Live in Tokyo!
How about some sentimental songs by them but more uplifting? You could try Surrounded, Hells Kitchen, Solitary Shell, and Octavarium (thats a big epic one!)
If you want to hear a really heavy live performance by Dream Theater, check out "This Dying Soul" from Live at Budokan (the same concert as the version of "Hollow Years" you reacted to last week). It's absolutely amazing to watch: ua-cam.com/video/2wKx_SBjHDY/v-deo.html
It's a shame people have been suggesting songs from this album at random. To understand the lyrics, and the story, you must start at the very beginning, from the first song. It's such a beautiful, tragic story. You're at a point in the album where the main character just learned about a tragedy and is feeling the loss of this person and mourning her. But you'd have to go back and listen the other songs. It goes deep. It's a good plot twist, and incredibly sad.
Please react to "A nightmare to remember" live in London or something more progressive. The ballads are ok to begin with DT, but you need to enter to "The metal zone".
Hey guys, really enjoying your videos. It seems that SO FAR you have really only seen the softer side of Dream Theater (often a good entry point), but if you allow it, you could potentially be about to tumble down the amazing rabbit hole that is discovering DT. Get ready for a hard, epic, powerful, soft, technical and emotional journey. May I suggest the song Illumination Theory (live from the Boston Opera House) as one of your next videos. This will really be a great introduction to several new DT elements and is just a musical and lyrical masterpiece. From then, you may also wish to check out Octavarium (live from Score) which is possibly one of the greatest pieces of music ever performed. Enjoy!!! 😊
Lol. Dream Theater is a prog metal band. And I would add very very metal. The thing is that so far, you only listened to their rare soft dongs lol. Btw, you should listen tothe whole Scenes From A Memory album. It is a concept album an 80 minutes story. Listening just to one section like this, you cannot understand the full story and the individual songs lose their sense.

Better to watch full SFAM live in new york 2000
I attended the Distance Over Time tour at the beginning of 2020 ❤ it was an incredible experience. To hear that whole album live is a privilege.
I know she prefers live version, but I would suggest the studio version first.. that album is sacred!

My son died almost 11 years ago. Boy do I miss him😢

At Wits End live in London. That is a really good introduction to some harder stuff but still melodic.
You need to hear the whole album! One of the best concept albums ever.

Freaking A💯
Check “Illumination Theory” live in boston. We were sitting beside Mrs Rudess and its the best ever happened in our life lol!
Wolfe is becoming my favorite 😊, sorry Wolfe for the misspelling. Thinking they need to expand to LTE next.
Reminds me of my mother
He talks about Viktoria which he learns about during hypnosis. He is learning about his past life «by looking through her eyes».
this one is part of a concept album where the whole thing tells a single story, each song is like a chapter...
listen to instrumedley live at budokan guys, it is amazing ;)
so much PLEASE, react to Dream Theater - Vacant

Thinking that Constant motion or At wit’s end might be a go to as well.
Should not we stick to classics and maybe give them a honour to hear MISUNDERSTOOD?
@@UnderStanding_Matters well anything at this point would be OK sin E they haven't done a DT reaction in months now 😭😭
the wohle album tell the story, You need to listen whole album to understand the story

Wolfe knows how to introduce people to DT...Cheers!
just fir keep the ballads you must try "the best of times" by them never play live .. maybe this year for the re union with the drumer
the next song i recomend for you is "a change of season".
