  • The lighthouse keeper in Kerry, Ireland who lost his job to AI 💔
I went to Co. Kerry to cycle the Kingdom Greenway, visit the Kerry Writer's Museum and head out to Samphire Island and learn about the lighthouse keeper that lost his job to automation in 1956. #irishbucketlist

Clisare I cannot tell you how much I appreciate content like this from you, as a Canadian we rarely get a glimpse into the true Ireland. I like you on the Try channel, but I love you on your own channel.

Love this! When I was a kid, our cottage was near a lighthouse on the lake (lakes are huge here in Canada). One year they opened it up for tours and we were able to go up inside it. The walls were 3ft thick with stone. Lighthouses seem a very romantic element of the past. I really enjoyed this video. Thanks again for a great history lesson!

I've been in a few lighthouses in ireland and you can tell they're made to stand lol, while in Brittany the Jument lighthouse was pointed out to me, would love to have got to it, the photo of it and the keeper from 1989 being world famous.

My brother lives in Listowel, Ontario 🇨🇦, so that part of your journey was fun for me. A lot of our towns/counties/townships/streets get their names from your side of the world. Now I see why little old Listowel, ON has such a big Paddyfest!!
I love this series, I'm learning a lot, thanks!

Just back from an 8 day trip to Toronto, Kingston, Montreal and Niagara (I'm from Ireland). Yep, noted plenty of Irish place names & streets in Ontario. Saw a group of Canadian-Irish kids in Kinston doing their Irish dancing and music and it was great to see people engaged with their heritage especially considering their ancestors left Ireland many many generations ago.
RIP Gordan Lightfoot, but my favourite Canadian folk singer has to be - Stomping Tom Connors -> Bud the Spud driving down the 401....
Canada, a big country and a friendly people 👍

Cool tour. Lighthouses in the US are managed by the US Coast Guard. They started automating lighthouses in the 1960s, with the last one being automated in 1998. As an introvert, the idea of living in a lighthouse always appealed to me.

Love this SO much. Makes me want to visit Ireland, especially Kerry, even more. I had many creative writing courses in my University days, and I learned all about the many writers from Ireland and particularly from Kerry, including one of my all time faves, Keane. I love good lighthouse visits as I'm in Michigan, which is the US State with the most Lighthouses. I haven't been to them all, but I'd love to. Love the sea shanty and I was over the moon when that one fella's rendition became a viral video in 2020. Thanks Ms Claire! Sláinte! ~Be Blessed

Omg Claire welcome to the world of our Irish lighthouses!!! I’m a tour guide in Hook Lighthouse in Co. Wexford and it is fascinating the lives the lighthouse keepers used to live. Our keepers left in 1996 so not that long ago in the grand scheme of things!!! Hope you make it down someday it would be an honour to be your tour guide😊😊😊 hi to Alex and Millie too xx
