Yes, this truly was a "feel good" movie. As a matter of fact, all Esther's films were beauts with constant recall value. There's only one swimming sequence with the gorgeous Esther to satisfy her fans, but the movie was loads of fun and then there is Gene Kelly, Frank Sinatra and mad Betty Garret who help liven up things to the hilt.

Great review girrl. I haven’t watched Take Me Out To The Ballgame in YEARS but I still remember lots about the movie. I do think it’s a fun, feel good kind of movie, definitely not one to go to if you’re looking for a film with incredible storytelling haha. I also knew there was something a little off between Esther and Gene, but now you know if you read Esther’s book. 😅
Loved Esther in the film too! ❤️

@classicgal9619 Thanks, love!! 💕💕 I love reading books by classic Hollywood stars for many reasons, and this is one of them. I love knowing how a movie was made from their perspective, but that also means that I could change my perspective on a person too. It's interesting how Gene treated both Esther and Debbie, yet in Singin in the Rain, you couldn't tell because they did have chemistry. In this one, you can REALLY tell that neither Gene nor Esther had chemistry with each other!

@@ClassicswithCourtney yeah I am the same too, reading a star’s autobiography is always interesting and learning things through their own perspective. ❤️
That being said with Esther and Gene not getting along, it’s probably a good thing they didn’t work together again. The movies I’ve seen Gene in, he usually has great chemistry with some of his leading ladies, but with Esther I have noticed something was off and this was before I read Esther’s book. 😅

@@ClassicswithCourtney Why did Gene Kelly always think he was the "cat's whiskers". He should have remembered that he was a dancer and there were very many more dancers, each good in their own way. But there was only one swimming star, and she remains Esther Williams to this day, who was incomparable!
