You really are one of the most under appreciated chess content creators out there. I remember learning chess through watching your climbing the rating ladder videos and ben finegolds st louis chess classes, just a year or 2 before the big chess boom. I really appreciate how you stuck to the educational core of the channel and stayed real through that entire boom

Thank you so much - your comment truly means a lot. You're right, I've tried to keep the focus on chess education.
I greatly appreciate you watching the past few years. Best wishes for your further chess improvement!

Awesome content! As a relative beginner, I've been binging your videos and have improved my game dramatically! I've checked out a few other UA-camrs as well but the calm, straightforward way you explain your thinking process makes yours so much easier to follow.

Did a fist bump today to myself when I saw that Id have the BEST instructive chess content on youtube ready for viewing tonight. Even more timely is that I lost OTB with my dragon sicilian today. Im taking notes John! Thankful as always for the upload!

Mixing it up w/ a Sicilian! That Dragon fianchetto just seems so flexible and dangerous. Thanks, John!!

John thank you for another educational and entertaining video. I love watching them and using them in my games. Please never stop. I said this in the past but you are easily top 3 (IMO) chess content creator. It would be great if you could play online tournaments for entertainment purposes. You know like 3 hours tournaments 😊

Hey John, I'm pretty sure that Game Review gets more critical the higher your rating is, so something that's marked as an "excellent" or "good" move for me could be marked as an inaccuracy or even a mistake for you. Love the videos!

great video as usual! Is there a reason why the squares of the opponent's piece which moved last are no longer highlated? Made it sometimes harder to follow the game if one didn't watch for a second and wondered which move the opponent actually made...

Enjoying this perfect educational content since early 2015. Back then I was particularly amazed by how much an amateur can actually learn from John's highly instructive comments even in bullet arenas.

If i had to guess white just picked up that variation and is still learning it, and as John said they had ideas of how that variation gets played but that sure wasn't the position for it. And stockfish be stockfishing in the middle game sure is too harsh, it's basically just saying learn more theory because that wasn't the plan.

    "skeven engine"
Oof. Pro tip on how to pronounce that for english speakers.
Scheveningen = skay-ven-in-gen (soft g). If you want to do skay-ven-ing-en instead that's close enough.
