Kansas is one of the best bands out of the 70s. These guys are on my top 5. This is a great song and Kansas makes it look easy. The transitions are amazing and flow effortlessly from one to the next. The variety and sheer density of sound is captivating and awe inspiring. Do yourself a favor, re-listen to anything Kansas, especially their Leftoverture album. ~ 40 years later these guys are tight, haven't lost the enthusiasm or the spring in their step, and they sound fuqing awesome. If you haven't yet been exposed to Kansas you're in for a treat.
LOVE the old school drum kit...what happened to real double bass and a good rack of toms? Glad someone who plays violin has a chance of a good gig like this. Sweet looking instrument. When was the last time a guitar player said Rich Williams was an influence? He just knows how to craft great songs and not wank all over the neck.
as a drummer with a double kick set and 8 toms...I hear you...nothing like the sound of a real kit being played as notes, not just beats...and Phil Ehart is one of the few who actually can...70-80's rock drummers like Neil Peart, Gil Moore, Matt Frennett and Jerry Mercer just to name some Canadian ones..........................
Esta música é um classico do rock progressivo e o Kansas é umas das minhas bandas preferidas dos anos 70 más, infelizmente o Steve Walsh já não tem mais voz para cantar.
While this is a great rendition, and I look forward to seeing Kansas in Raleigh; the sound will never match that of when Livgren and Walsh were in the band...
@@tommyd1871 I don't know how you arrived at that conclusion. I have always loved Kansas. I guess that I was so used to Kerry's voice on all the early albums that it seems a bit strange to hear this without him. Did you miss the part about "great rendition''? This evening, I am having a drink and listening to this again. Cheers.
It's gonna be kind of sparse sounding when they're arranging it for just five players. They do a much fuller rendition nowadays that they're up to a 7-man lineup. They can do multiple keyboard and guitar parts at the same time without pulling Rags off the violin.
Phil is one of the most underrated drummers in 🎶🎶🎶

does anyone have the whole show? i had the pleasure of being at this show, for guys gettin up there in age,man did they sound great...
They played very well last night!!
If Igor Stravinsky composed rock music
I wonder why the tuned down a half step for this song
Probably out of deference to Steve's voice

Lyndon....You apparently hate everything, but that is Steve Walsh on Keys and vocals. Have a drink and enjoy life.

good but but not even close to the original line up on two for the show
I'll cut em some slack playing sans Kerry. Overall, not bad.

I would have been disappointed with that version, NO AMAZING BASS LINE! 😝
