All accolades have already been written. I’ll just reiterate them, because watching Peter Forsberg videos still gives me goosebumps, borderline tears. He was an absolute ice hockey phenom! What most younger folks don’t get is that Forsberg’s career coincided with the worst spectator-friendly and hockey-unaesthetic era of clutch-and-grab. Technical forwards were much more easily shut down without drawing opposing team penalties. It’s of course all hypothetical, and you can’t compare eras, but I honestly believe that Peter Forsberg would have surpassed Wayne Gretzky’s points per game average had he played either before the 90’s and early 2000’s, or after 2005.

Lemieux had the total package as well, and he was more skilled and a bigger guy. Lemieux was Lindroos, Forsberg and Gretzky at their peaks in one package. After Lemieux comes nothing, then nothing again, then comes the others mentioned above.

@@snickaren111 Lemieux had even better offensive creativity and skills compared to Forsberg, but he was not an two-way forward like Peter and he was big but way more soft. No player until now had that combination of a playmaker and that power of will like Forsberg had. Thats what made him special and comparable with other great like Mario and Jagr.

see that he is a special player. Peter also had that but almost every game. Imop the best player ever ( i guess some bias ) . He played so many years

    Great..I missed this one before.
2:49...always so fun to see that pool bounce back and going around the players he makes fun of, he used to do that in the swedish elite series as well, a kind of play that requires how to make use of the other players balance (or non balance) while in the game, so either he used the offensive hit while standing still when someone is trying to hit him, or he used the opponents body to richochet himself to gain more speed himself, or using the back of the goalie cage and pool ricochet the puck so the opponent is all dizzy, or do a guy one one one while changing body direction at a fast speed.
forsberg really had a way of thinking several moves ahead of most others.
It can´t be fun to be made fun of like that when forsberg turns the pants of you inside out.
    Gretzky and Forsberg..
Two amazing players with a similar sense of playmaking and sense of timining in the game that was phenomenal

@@shabba213 Controversy? Nothing would have stopped Dallas from winning that year, with or without Hull's goal. They won the President's Trophy and clearly was the best team in the playoffs. Hull had a about two inches of his skate in the crease for less than a second, had puck possession and didn't interfere with Hasek. It was a good goal. Besides, the league removed the rule the year after anyway. Get over it. People who still defend that destructive rule are people who apparently hate ice hockey. I get that it must've sucked to lose two 7 game series in a row (great matchups by the way) against the same team, but stop trying to discredit that Stars team.

Gretzky was ahead of his time by miles, this is something that occurs in a lot of sports. It is easier to get ahead of hte curve earlier on, and once in a blue moon the player that perfectly embodies the manner in which the game is currently played comes along. Then as the game gets perfected further the difference in skill grows smaller and smaller. The issue is when people use this as an excuse to diminish the accomplishments of pioneers, such as Gretzky. No Gretzky would not score as much in todays environment had he played in the exact same manner as he did back then. But gretzky helped evolve the manner in which the game is played nowadays, and had he grown up playing in a later generation he obviously would not play in the exact same manner as he did during his era, and he would almost certainly excel to one of the greatest regardless. His numbers just would not be as ridiculous.
