as a new student with a martial arts and military background the one thing that is consistent whether im watchn videos on youtube or at class is how little the classes feel like a martial art instruction. some classes do, ballistsic classes, but most dont. thats what i like the most. if i learned the same lessons in taekwndo or akido they didnt sink in the way they do in systema. relax, breathing, understanding your body and its relation to tension and stress. plus, i had forgotten how effective the body blows are and quite honestly because tko doesnt use hand strikes and akido wants to grab i never properly learned hwo to make a dense fist. i have fighters hands but my punches are so much harder now than they used to be. and the flow is so much better than a speed bag training. if i were a russian id keep this shit to myself. also ...im glad i can study

I'm a proponent of the relaxation technique as well, sir. But there is also a technique for tension, which uses forced exhale and full-body tension to override muscle governors and produce increased output. It is not so good for martial arts as relaxation is, which is why only Karate and Hung Gar seem to teach it. Pavel Tsatsouline teaches it as well. But it is a useful technique to know and use, if only in limited situations compared to the all-reaching technique of relaxation. Do you know of this?
