- Silver Dollar City | Is it WORTH IT to visit? Masks, changes and more in 2020
John and Amy take you on a tour of Silver Dollar City and help answer the question, "is it worth it."
With various requirements, restrictions, closures and changes, is it worth it to visit Silver Dollar City right now?
Branson, Missouri is opening and tourists are coming. Silver Dollar City is a primary driver of tourism in Branson and they are doing a remarkable job of providing phenomenal experiences for their guests in a safe environment.

We are that couple from Kansas City at 32:58! I am Curtis and my wife is Stephanie.
It was a pleasure meeting you guys! Sorry we couldn't chat long, we were on our way from the Time Traveler lockers to the River Blast. 😀
We will report back to you what is happening at World's of Fun.
We plan on going soon to check out the situation there.
Great video as always! Very informative.
Great meeting you! Thank you so much!
I'm going in a few weeks and I'm torn. We always go to Billie Gail's before we get to the park but the food at The Mill looked really good too...
Difficult decision! 🙂
I m coming next month can’t wait
I have been going to Branson since I was 4. I'm 46 now. I love it. I love watching your videos. Your so sweet and funny. I wish you all the best. I'm glad things are opening. God Bless always
I understand the safety aspect of ending the buffets but if you are traveling alone then family style will not work for those traveling solo unless you have one heck of an appetite lol
That's true!
Seriously if you don’t know how to download an app your probably not able to watch a UA-cam video. Lol. Found you guys two days ago and I’m already a big fan, love Disney and cruising, plus I have a silver dollar annual pass. Your videos are high quality and entertaining. Amy has a great personality for this. Just love you guys.
I'm kind of local I've been going there since I was 5 or 6 years old you have to get the season pass with the residents discount on it and then it's worth it it's a blast to go roller coasters it's the nearest excitement to Springfield that you can get there's a couple other secrets that I'm not telling them
My favorite thing about time traveler is the ticking out front
Agreed, I wonder if they put that sound in as a way to keep congregating down. I keep moving
I recorded it about 3 times on Thursday. 😀
When the ride is shut down for weather or technical issues, the ticking stops. Have never asked anyone, but that is the pattern we noticed a couple years ago. And I must add, it's the most annoying part of the park after the first couple minutes of nostalgia wear off!
Just wait until moonlight madness and ride time traveler where you cant see the drop... it's fun
When you go home on that night you can hear it in your sleep
You guys seem so very nice and you're great at talking about respecting business rules during COVID. Even my kids were a little shocked watching you add in 2x that it's a great tip to keep a beverage in your hand to avoid having to wear a mask though. My young daughter also pointed out that it would be considerate to keep masks on while the waitress is dropping food off at the table.
Thank you for the feedback. Months ago when this was filmed, we and our community were pretty new to masks and the etiquette, etc. surrounding them. We do occasionally receive comments (especially when folks watch our older videos) that we are not masking, etc. correctly. Please know that, along with the rest of the world, our pandemic response has morphed over time and we are constantly learning how best to function within the new normal. Wishing you peace and good health! ❤️
We will be there in a Couple of Days!! 🤩 Can’t Wait!! 🤩🤩
Take advantage of the mask free cooling zone. It's awesome!
We will on sunday
Make sure to bring a hand fan if possible it helps trust me
Absolutely enjoy your tours. Starbucks!! A great added bonus.
Thank you! ❤️
So happy to see you all ride my ride I work on the flooded mine and this is my first year thanks for riding it this year folks.
We love it!
I went on june 19th and I am reserved to go at the following dates: june 30th, July 6th
I remember when I was at silver dollar city and time traveler came out. I got so annoyed by the clock
It's so loud, but I kind of love it!
Indeed it is loud. We kind of used it as a homing signal to our lockers! 😀
YES TRUE
but i love it!!!!!
I noticed you guys go to Molly Mills regularly. Is it worth the money? And John I'm totally with you I am going to miss buffets
Nm. Watch the whole vid right?
No worries! Definitely worth it! 🙂
Did you mention the price to get in? That would be the biggest factor of "is it worth it"!
I bought tickets yesterday for three adults (we're going in the middle of September). Total was $203
I love it when people say, just download the app, you don't need a paper one. Ummm.... believe it or not, there are still a lot of people who do not have a smart phone, a cell phone, at all, or enough data to support such an app.
Pathfinder has returned to SDC! ❤️
@@TPF Great to hear! I find the paper ones are easier to use to route your trip around the park than using a cell phone screen.
We went to Silver Dollar City on Tues 6/16. My 8 yr old daughter and I got to ride everything we wanted: Time Traveler, Outlaw Run, Powder Keg, and Wildfire. We stayed the whole day and noticed the park was practically empty by 4pm. I actually think now is the perfect time to go to SDC. The small crowd allowed us to get on every ride in a timely manner. Longest wait was Time Traveler but only about 25 min. Nothing else was longer than 10-15 min. Just keep an eye on wait times using the app. Plus I don't mind the 6 ft spaces in lines...that's actually a nice bonus. The masks are a pain to wear but people are exaggerating the effects. The biggest issue was wearing sunglasses with the mask...causes glasses to fog up. Just pull the mask below your nose and no issues.
We're from Ohio and just left Branson today. First time we've ever been to Branson so I wanted to say thanks John and Amy for all the videos leading up to our trip. We tried many things you suggested and loved them all. My 8 year old kept saying "Remember when John and Amy said to go here" or "Daddy, John shot that video of Amy right there!!!" You guys were celebrities to our kids. Bummer we never ran into you.
I don't mean to be that guy, but having the mask below your nose really defeats the purpose of the mask. In order to properly protect yourself and others, masks need to cover both mouth and nose. I have glasses so I know the whole "fogging up" problem, but with a little fidgeting, i was able to have that problem not happen anymore
@@christopherferguson6262 Yes you are correct. Eventually I was able to fidget enough to make the issue go away as well. My point was simply to state it's not a big issue overall and we had a blast at SDC regardless of the mask policy.
If you have a large enough mask, you can fix it to where the glasses are overlapping the top of the mask. Thus, eliminating the fog issue. I had to change masks to a bigger mask.
Thanks for the update my family really want to go this summer for mystic river falls but if we cant we will try for Christmas
haha i’m the kid in the white shirt walking next to you guys in the beginning
NOT GOING THIS YEAR. IN TEXAS WE DON'T WEAR A STINKING MASK.
Me and my family are gonna go tomorrow and we r coming from Arkansas and we try to go once every summer and we watched y'all's videos to help us prepare for whats changed and it's helped a lot and has gotten me even more excited to go!!!
Enjoy your visit!
Ok, that’s totally me standing at the kid coaster! 😂 My girls were riding at the same time. I agree, I thought the park was great and I was so pleasantly surprised at how the masks didn’t really bother me. We had a great time and I think it’s worth going for sure!
Awesome! Thanks for sharing!
Also I watch you guys when I need help on silver dollar city things I also watch to enjoy your adventures
Yes! SDC is so fun!! It was great meeting y'all!! Definitely worth going! You have a good channel!
Thank you! Great meeting you, too!
Do you get to do Harvest Festival with your mission of your Silver Dollar City ticket for free
Yes!
thank you so much more the information, i love how your channel evolves around SDC!
I didn't know they added a Starbucks!!!! I'm one Happy Girl!! I always go out of my way too.
your almost at 3 thousand subscribers!!!!
Yes, almost!
Most rides including rollercoasters have no wait or very very very little wait
im going here soon for the first time !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Awesome! Have fun!
good job!
Fingers crossed end of July when we come!
John and Amy do such a great job. There very fun and always positive. Nice meeting you. Hope to One day get you in a Vlog of mine. Keep doing what you do. Very informative. And good tips and tricks for coming to Branson for sure. Tim Branson and Kiara
Great meeting you!
What were the health questions? We want to go but can’t find them listed anywhere.
I think we show them in the opening day of 2020 video. I wish I could remember them all off the top of my head, but it's a lot.
@@TPF ah okay. We are healthy but we’re curious if they asked where you are traveling from. :) Would hate to get there and get turned away cause we live in Florida lol :)
No, they don't ask that. Mostly if you've been in contact with someone with COVID or if you've experienced any of a list of symptoms, etc.
Fantastic video! Thank you so much for you efforts with this. By chance is the train running with the bandits? We are considering going it was something my little guys was asking about.
Yes, it is running! There is only one bandit this season (instead of two).
Is the Glass Blowing Shop, Silversmith Shop, Leather Craft Shop, Woodworking Shop and Weaving Shop, Pottery Shop still up and open? I have not been in many years. I love your videos and your wonderful family.
Thanks for your video. I will be following you! I work in Time Traders,
Is this park worth it for non roller coaster riders?
Yes! There is so much more than roller coasters: shops, shows, food, train, mine ride and so much more!
ThNks for this video, the place looks like so much fun. We had a trip planned for May 5th, but of course we had to cancel. Was thinking about coming in August or September, what is your option
I like September because it might be a bit cooler. Also, kids are back in school, which typically means lighter crowds (though nothing is typical these days). Just avoid Labor Day weekend.
My husband doesn’t do roller coasters, so is there still plenty to do? Also with not doing coasters would it be a one day trip or two day trip to see all we want ?
I’m coming around July 12-18th one of those days I’m coming to silver dollar city :P
Same. Monday/Tuesday
im going monday!
I will wait until America comes to it's senses. This video is a nice try to get people to come. But until the world is normal again if ever I won't waste my money or time.
Like wearing a mask in 100 + is a health hazard!
We was there today(Father's Day) and it was great. Not as much people and the kids got right on the rides. I prefer less people.
We're going to SDC july 1st, any chance maybe Mystic River Falls may have a soft opening that day?
No word yet! We can only hope!
Just saving my place 14:39
Thanks for update much appreciated great 👍 job my people ❤️😍🙏
Does the silver dollar city Starbucks have a full drink menu? Like all their cold coffees?
No, not the full drink menu.
I am not wearing a mask in the Heat. I visited a park that doesn't try to control visitors.
Do you have to call ahead and make a reservation at SDC? If so how is that done and how far ahead do you have to do that?
You have to go online and reserve the specific day. You need a ticket first. If your buying a single day then you can't do it at the same time.
They will not setup a reservation if you call. Trust me I tried.
The buffet is just like mamas farmhouse in pigeon forge which we love! I don't care about buffet style. They can bring it to me. That's fine.
We will be there next week and have Trailblazer passes. Are they even needed with the light crowds? I've been checking the app for ride wait times, doesn't even seem worth it!
Debating whether to take advantage of the refund options they have... The Trailblazers are nearly twice the price of season passes when we bought them last year.
Last we went, we walked right on every ride except Time Traveler.
Okay, the medical and the actual entering the park was not fully explained but I thought I heard you say you need to show drivers license to enter the park. Did I miss understand you or...?
Not in the medical tent, but adult season pass holders need to show ID to get through the gate.
The mask thing is not a problem to me but on June 19th it was HOT so hot I was sweating so much but I still loved it and silver dollar city is the best
TBH. I don't think you guys could say a bad about thing SDC ever. But, knowing all you know about the park, would you really recommend someone making their first ever visit in these times?
Hmmmm, well, you'd miss some of the classic attractions such as the cave and indoor shows, but light crowds might make up for it. If you want to enjoy the park and rides, it could be a great time to come. Just depends on what you're looking for.
Did you carry that open drink container through the entrance? Can we bring water bottles?
Yes, you can bring water bottles.
where yall eat was look like same lady she been there for long time i forgor her name??place you was talking about that's the place we eat when i got up all i see was hole in the fence where water ride was also been on the old one water ride also the flood mine too with the gun
We love the Flooded Mine!
John you are from chicago and your son is wearing a Broncos mask? Where's da bears? 😄
Don't get me started. Broncos. Yuck!
@@TPF agreed. I am a huge bears fan so when you said you were from Chicago, I had go ask.
Hey Jon and Amy. Jon needs to keep his day job. They ask the same questions as they do at Walmart here in Miami Oklahoma. Then they check your temperature with those guns. I believe they got bad guns because you should be able to stand clear across the room and check somebody’s temperature. I think silver dollar city is just trying to pay for their roller coasters and other items that they’ve put in. Me and the wife used to come to Silverdollar city had season passes 10 years straight course in the wife don’t ride the roller coasters so I think we’re getting gypped. There’s too much walking anymore and I’m in my 60s. We’re coming to Branson in a couple weeks but we’re not gonna do Silverdollar city there’s a place, catty corner from the train station where they used to have A Tim type wagon. But y’all have fun and take care and God bless
I'm so glad I never wore a mask and let others take away our freedoms
WEAR A MASK? BORRRING!!!
Lol 😂 go too six flags instead . It’s better rides and a swim park ... this whole taking temps before entry does not stop non symptomatic peoples ... silver dollar city is like a small six flags anyways it’s worth catching COVID for more than silver dollar city
I want to see this same video idea from someone opposed to having to wear a mask. These guys seem very willing to comply and even failed to mention certain inconvenient changes (like not acting at all upset about the swinging bridge short cut to save time). Now tell me it's worth it for non-covid changes supporters and I'll appreciate the effort a little more. These guys went in specifically to only mention the good. They already agree with the changes, so i've learned nothing more than what sdc puts in their ads. 🤷
I refuse to go until they lift the mask mandate
I'll make a reply. It might be hard finding someone who opposes the mask policy but has still gone to SDC. My family went 3 days ago which was the second day they were open to the public. We booked our trip back in Jan before all this happened. We made the decision to still go regardless what would be open. We had to decide a month before do to our condo reservation. So we decided to go before SDC made an announcement. Good news they would open three days before we left Branson. Bad news they would require masks. We were firmly opposed to the mask policy. Yet we decided to still go since it was a full day activity we planned. Very glad we went b/c it was my families favorite day. Both our 4 yr old and 8 yr old loved every second. The masks were a pain but didn't get in the way at all. Only issue was wearing sunglasses b/c they would get fogged up. The park is practically empty so why not go? We live close to Cedar Point. Getting on a big ride in under min is great. We rode everything and had most of the day to spare.
@@mclabr1
I am so interested in going back to Cedar Point!! That's awesome! I completely agree with you on the wait time. I remember standing in line for a coaster for at least 2hrs when Millennium Force first opened. And every other line isn't too terrible, but still waaay longer than here.
This Silver Dollar City mask thing is a minor inconvenience at best, but it's supposed to keep people safe IN CASE someone may be sick. I'd rather be safe and somewhat annoyed than potentially really sick or dead later, or make someone's parent or grandparent or even child sick.
Thirtysomething I’m not saying this to be snarky or rude, but thank you for staying away from the park if you aren’t going to wear a mask. There are multiple people down there that refuse to wear their masks and it makes the operators jobs much harder when they do that.
Summer Fish thank you for bring nice about it. If a business says I have to wear one I just won’t go. I won’t go in And sneakily not wear one.
