I’m playing it on euphonium and am supposed to listen to a double bass recording for reference and this is the only one I could find, thanks for uploading!
Nice to hear it played at concert pitch. When Capuzzi wrote this concerto, double bass was written at concert pitch, but nowdays it is written an octave below concert pitch (so in more modern music, a middle C on a double bass part is actually played an octave below middle C). Playing at concert pitch rather than transposed down the octave increases the difficulty of the piece immensely but sounds so much brighter and more energetic.
Thank you and youtube for letting bassists in all the world share all this knowledge and love for bass playing whithout limits, please keep sharing with us, you're a great source of inspiration!!!
I'm learning the rondo on tuba. It's a very nice piece, well played.

Why do you play with the music stand so low?
Maybe it was for the video cameras and the audience to have better view. :)
+Jan Bayram Or long sightedness!
+David Watermeyer LOL 😂 the first was correct. For the second, my eyes are still too young now, over 8 years after 😉
Oh, I see. Could you point me in the direction of where I could buy recordings of your concertos?
