The Atari purchase of Intellivision doesn’t include Amico because Atari doesn’t want the debt and liabilities attached to that line of business.
Amico was a scam funded based on continuous lies.
Of course Neil Druckmann would be in favor of AI.
AI can't be burnt out from his severe crunch culture to the point Druckmann has to poach movie VFX workers to finish his game.
Edit: OK so the interview was related and was likely faked....still the point about Druckmann crunching the workforce still stands.
What a jerk! 😡
AI can create his perfect abby zilla model.
Don't fool yourself into thinking that everyone else isn't in favor of AI. It's involvement in development is inevitable but it's not good PR to talk about it right now
@@YunisRajab In this case in particular Neil considers himself an auteur director with particular authority on every detail of his projects, evidenced by his games functioning like drawn out interactive movies for better or worse. So its tragically hilarious that he might exchange his purpose trained, and slave driven, talent with something as... "nearly approximate", as the statistical generative AI models that are becoming popular.
That not to say that I haven't seen some already well researched artist pour over a prompt till its perfect and with the knowledge to know that's its perfect, but the optimum use case of AI right now isn't to craft the exact scene you were thinking of in your head, its to quickly fill in passable detail you may or may not have specified, that looks good at a glance. Course I'm only talking about text to "result" generative AI, there are tons of more specialized tools (most of which have already existed for a long time) that are a form of AI, like smart select and auto chromakey, advanced color correction, randomized foliage painters, and animation tracking. If he's talking about those tools then hell yeah the plugins for graphic effects and motion tracking are already going insane and I have no issue with them. Those are tools that let a small team of artist take their 3D models and animate them like a fucking Pixar film without the need of an expensive mocap studio or fleet of render servers.
I didn't even know there was a black ops 4 and 5 lmao
Bruh how lol I don’t even play cod anymore and even I knew that had bo4 years ago in 2018
That’s because the last good black ops was #3
Black ops 4 was controversial for having a battle royale instead of a single player campaign, and Black ops 5 is actually Cold War.
As a person still playing Endless Ocean Luminous since launch... playing this game online a bunch, I see mostly Japanese names playing along, so the fact it's in the top 10 of sales in Japan is not surprising to me
Glad you're enjoying it
I’m actually interested in buying it to play with a friend. Seems like a good time.
Are you enjoying the game so far?
Interesting to know! I’m hoping to get the game this weekend.
@@Bobo12300 I guess I am since I am still playing it... but I am disappointed there isn't MORE, especially when I refresh my memory what the other versions of Endless Ocean had... there was a better story progression and actual danger
Everyone always remembers Atari for their home consoles, I remember them as some of the best arcade games. Primal Rage, Paper Boy, Area 51! They rocked the Arcades!
Area 51 is still great we we used to line up to play it
I was wondering, who owns the rights to Area 51, Paperboy, and Primal Rage? Doesn't seem like it's Atari
Area51 was really good
Remember the PS9 Orb?
You are not "red E"
This trip goes back to the 70's. Atari 2600 in 1977, and the Intellivision in 1979.
Between the Bankruptcy and Accusations over the Years calling Infogames aka ATARI S.A. isn't the same as the 1970's company it started out as. Kinda like how SUN Microsystems, HP and IBM are not the same companies they started out as.
Besides Atari S.A. selling off most of their IP for bankruptcy purposes but a few IP no one wanted Test Drive Unlimited 2 or the royalties owed to Lamborghini, game developers that turned into an Ivory Tower owed back payment. There was a riot over that in France who would guessed?
The Plucky Squire is my most anticipated game of 2024. I can't wait to get a release date for it.
The game looks good, I'd check out metaphor in october too if I were you.
Yep, and as someone who's more into illustrated books than video games, it piqued my interest to the point where I may consider playing it. When the game was initially announced, I ended up imagining a number of people doing any% ‘speed reads’ (speedruns) of the game.
Same, love the artstyle.
At this point, if third party companies decide to not put their games on the Switch they’re literally leaving money on the table.
Switch new record.
Jim Ryan: “I believe we have sold around 190 million PS2” 😬
As much as people keep talking shit about the switch, it just won't stop selling.
I see more people talk about the switches' success than people actually shitting on it...
@@Final_Dawn Asking for next gen hardware so that games don't run at 20fps 480p = shitting on the current system to some folk.
Being the cheaper option of the big three helped them out for the most part. Consoles were meant to be the cheaper gaming alternative to computer games, now theyre reaching PC prices and it will push people away if they go too high, Nintendo kept it lower than the other two so of course more people would keep buying it. Also that library of games after all these years has become very enticing despite the amount of remasters/remakes.
@@mappybc6097 So what? If it's fun, I don't mind. I have lots of fun with Ocarina Of Time, which runs at 20fps on the N64, but, goddamn, playing Horizon, for instance, is so boring.
@@mappybc6097 Nintendo fans act like we can't have both peformance and gameplay.. The next switch should at least do 1440p 60 in docked mode... is that too much to ask for?
Sounds like Naughty Dog is just going to use all that online only AI crap in their game. So much for all that creative talent creating rich immersive stories...
We should have gotten rid of Neil when we had the chance.
When the Super Nintendo Switch will release, the smart move would be a price cut on the Switch. A price cut, in my opinion, will guarante the Switch at the top spot over the PS2.
How sad your life must be to care so much about weather or not one plastic box out sales another.
In fairness sony could use a dose of being brought down a peg, they have been anti consumer lately, not that i care too much as no company deserves any loyalty.
Full props to Nintendo 👏👏 also glad Stellar Blade is selling well
Stellar blade was soo good! It's actually the only game I've 100% with the trophies!
Of course I appreciate how Eve looks, but the game is simply an excellent game disregarding her appearance. I'm very happy the game is selling well, so we'll get at least another sequel that Shift Up can further evolve the IP!
@@tgriffith1350 nothing but Truth
I wish Naughty Dog would make another game like Jak & Daxter. I'm *SO* tired of these realistic games, I can't even put into words how absolutely done with realism in games I am. I miss how imaginative developers used to be in the PS1/PS2 generations. From Crash, Spyro, and Ape Escape, to Ratchet & Clank, Jak & Daxter, and Sly Cooper, it really used to feel like Sony actually stood a chance at competing with Nintendo, and then it started to fizzle out with the PS3 and has been mostly dead with the PS4 and PS5 outside of Ratchet & Clank...
You are 100% right. I would love a return to real fun video games. A sly cooper or spyro would be awesome
PS2 era PlayStation was unreal. Just so many bangers. Jak & Daxter, Ratchet and Clank, Sly Cooper, God of War, Gran Turismo, Twisted Metal, SOCOM, Ico, Shadow of the Colossus…. Just a ridiculous lineup of IP’s put out by Sony.
No true fan wants a new Jak & Daxter from Naughty Dog.
They became obsessed with making their games more like a movie and less like an actual game.
This is why Nintendo rules the gaming world they don't go for realistic boring generic crap they make fun.
According to Family Guy the Irish are the reason we don't have flying cars.😃
In regards to Naughty Dog, not excited, don't care. Agreeing with others here I think one of the worse things to happen to gaming is when devs felt that gaming should become interactive movies that focus hard on photo realism. This is to the detriment of gaming that has more imaginative art direction and more original concepts. Thank goodness for the indies and thank goodness for Nintendo. People can complain about "kiddie" games as much as they want, but the best of those games have had more great ideas, more impressive concepts and more imaginative art direction than so many AAA games over the last 10 years or so. We have exceptions like Balder's Gate 3 but I would never want to see the imaginative stuff die off.
Ok. So the next Naughty Dog game is DOA.
Atari buying Intellivision is the equivalent of Nintendo buying Sega for the 90's kids.
It's a big deal, if you 're over 40!
Yeah this is probably upsetting for my dad since he had Intellivision haha
Maybe games aren’t selling in Japan because of the 50 year record high inflation right now.
lmao someone get Tommy Tallarico
They acquire them because they are on the verge of course bankrupt was the other option due to intellivision amico failing the project. And Tommy It self get shit from Money.
There's a name I haven't heard in awhile.
@@notmousse i mean can i Blame him about missmanaging the whole project behind in kikstarter all toghever? I belive in the past he made Is own studio formed tò make videogames back. Not to harass him or something, i think he Is a good person but probaly there other things we cant sure what went wrong with himself or rather someone treating like a bad Person. We as human can make several mistake even if tend to promise deadline Is not far from perfect. But probaly Is for the best Atari did purchased intellivision for some degree, even if maybe would let die the brand.
@@dynamon911nz Tommy Tallarico is not a good person. Taking credit for other people's music and sound effects as well as creating an award that you give only to yourself multiple times, and lying about world records is not a good look. His mother loves him very much though.
@@BetweenTheLyons i bet he was like this even way back then to take credit on earthworm jim was is creation.
Just a tidbit, not very many people may not know is that Atari also bought Nightdive Studios.
Goddamnit.
Still waiting to hear about Drukman accidentally choking on his own pretentiousness
He's used to choking on things.
LOL I heard you say "Endless Ocean," "Lumines" and I thought "WOW! Lumines is back the charts? I love that game!" But was disappointed to have heard it wrong.
I actually liked the campaign of Black Ops Cold War and it would be so cool if Black Ops 6 was a "What If" scenario for the bad ending, or what if Bell survived and is trying to get revenge on Adler?
The black ops game have never really disappointed me aside from 4 that didn’t have a campaign, but even then multiplayer was very fun. I don’t trust Activision or CoD until I see gameplay but for some reason Black Ops always stands out for being good. I hope they get way more controversial for the story and theme
Treyarch are the best cod developer at the moment based on their track record. BOPS6 will be a return to form for cod
I don't trust Microsoft being in charge of it.
I don’t care about the campaign I just want GOOD zombies again.
Zombies is all they are good for now and always have been. The multiplayers all have dogshit net code and hit detection except for the worst in the series Black ops 4 and that one has many more issues that not even a good tickrate and hit detection will fix. Modern shooters just all suck. The only real fun one anymore is Splatoon. Everything else feels like a chore to play cause of the bloat of attachments and weapon levels while also having the sweatiest neck beards so you can't just enjoy a casual match cause the games working behind the scenes to make sure that current you're swimming against keeps getting stronger the better you get at swimming (SBMM & EOMM)
We have flying cars FOR SURE. we just decided they were dangerous. Can you imagine dude lol
Does anyone take Neill seriously
Only Neil Druckmann and Anita Sarkeesian. But that's pretty much it.
A good rule of thumb is that you can immediately disregard what anyone with a man-bun says
Gamergate isn’t coming back, Neckbeard. Deal with it.
@@Aries73If the urinalists are any indication it's going stronger than ever.
Well he did make good games loser
Had an original and now the Zelda OLED. I absolutely love the battery life. Can play TOTK for hours
Whats nuts is to think that the original DS sold at $149.99 and eventually seen price drops. $299.99. If you JUST look at US Sales thats close to $150 more PER Console sold, and never got a price drop like previous Nintendo consoles. Its wild to imagine back in the DS Days I thought "Wow Nintendo must be SO loaded right now" and compare it to their income now. I didn't take inflation into consideration but still they must be happy in the Mushroom Kingdom!
my og switch battery life lasted less than a hour after 4 years using. I changed for the oled one just because of the battery. "maybe this was nintendo plan... "
Unfortunately that's how rechargeable batteries work, they lose charge and capacity over time and depending how regularly it charges/discharges... i wish batteries technology would reach a point where they have infinite charge cycles and would not lose capacity over time... it's not possible i think tho.
they need to announce super mario galaxy 3, they even said that series is not over yet so hoping it comes on switch 2
With some of the Switch news outta the way, let's get into the bigger stuff...
HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND PEOPLE!
Cross-Gen is a double edged sword. It’s either anti-consumer to not offer it for games alongside new consoles or it’s a crutch to limit pushing the new consoles to their limits. What’s the correct balance? Longer generations?
I loved Intellivision! Night Stalker, Lock 'N' Chase, Tron (the maze one), Space Armada... lots of great memories.
It’s a fake rumor, the FTC wouldn’t allow this acquisition.
What basis do you have to think that way?
The FTC isn't going to give a flying fuck about a no name company buying the name and some of the IPs of another no name company.
How do you think the current Atari was made?
You’re funny. Administrations can change and someone can be replaced. Depends on who Nutella backs.
Atari already acquired them bruh. I know, them owning Intellivision is quite the monopoly :(
@@CVSooner777 would help if I read the OP I was talking about Microsoft and Steam…. Oh well

you havent taken vacation since you started . you deserve one jon. take the fam
10:35 "plenty of creativity behind the name" lmao :D
Naughty Dog is basically the last of us Developer, they released last of us 4 times and part 2 was released 3 times... i swear they need to just make something new cause im getting annoyed when ever i see them in the news and its just more of the same 2 games.
Black ops 6?! I’m still trying to make it to black ops 2 on my Wii u
That last Sony controller shown, showcasing the all digital future you love so much.
I know a lot of people complain about the frame rate and all that stuff about the Switch. But in my opinion it's one of the best consoles I've ever owned. The games that I have are fun and repayable. So I just ignore all the negative comments, they don't pay my bills or put food on my table. Also not everyone can afford a PS5 or Xbox series X. If the Switch was the last console i could ever buy I'd be happy.
Atari buying Intellivision is hilarious to me! This headline sounds like it's from 1979!
So Sony says no day date for pc single player for the next 10 years that’s crazy I was almost sure they would
Have the members videos stopped showing up for anyone else? They e only shown up for me a couple of times in the last two weeks.
A quick serch on youtube or google will show you that flying cars do infact exist and if you are wealthy you can infact own one.
Ohhh made Comment of the Day, nice :)
👍
You're famous!
If naughty dog is working on the same crap that every other studio has put out lately then they might as well just drop it now. Unfinished and all because it’s not gonna do well either way.
Please talk about input lag!
Battery life, resolution, fps is everywhere. The creeping lag gen to gen is rarely discussed as a key hardware aspect and given the lag on the Switch the next gen hardware is unlikely to be low lag.
Thanks!
this really is the end of tommy tallarico😭
No. The tale sadly only ends when he dies.
Games also aren’t selling well in Japan right now because they are currently in a recession. It’s a 40 year high in the exchange rate.
After more than 40 years, Atari conquered Intellivision. Unfortunately, the folks who think gaming began in 1994 won’t grasp the significance of this.
Atari just by name
Well gaming isnt in 1994 anymore and atari is an irrelevant brand now compared to the 90's behemoth they were
@@M_CFVthey were important in the 70s and early 80s, I'd hardly say they were a behemoth in the 90s. Relevant back then, but with Nintendo and SEGA being the actual competitors for the market, Atari was there trying to hoard the breadcrumbs
Lol
1994? Do you mean 1983, with the NES? Or are you stating that most gamers think videogames only started with 3D graphics, like the Jaguar or PS1?
There is a deeper rationale for why many people don't consider the true start of gaming to be prior to the NES. This is due to the video game collapse prior to the NES. A similar analogy is with Rome - there's no denying the countless influences Rome had well beyond the collapse of the West. In many ways, Rome never truly fell. But it's a coherent position to state that Rome collapsed in 476. Atari's prestigious continuity collapsed, along with the entire video game market, prior to 1983, even though the company never actually went under.
In terms of Rome, some people argue that Byzantium was a direct continuation. I think this is at best a half truth, in terms of Latin culture and society. Perhaps the first century or so of Byzantium was closest to the glory of prior Rome. But typically east Rome was a paler shadow of its glory days. The same can be said of Atari after 1983 - even though the company was still around, it just wasn't the same. If we think of the Renaissance that came after western Rome as an analogy, that would more than likely be the entrance of Nintendo/NES into the videogame market.
Yes the golden age of gaming that almost killed gaming
There was a black ops 5?
🤔 yeah your right wonder if they messed up??
That playstation controller looks like is made by IA
I think the only reason the DS sold faster than the Switch was because of the lower price, almost half less I think. I forgot how much I paid for mine, but I think I paid like 129.99, I don't remember quite well.
I remember my coleco vision good times lol
Salute to the Wii and PS2! 🏴
but really though, do we actually need a Switch successor..? 👀
How many hours could the Gameboy stay on? on AA batteries?
For the original unit 20+ hours, for the others about 10 thanks to having half the batteries and slightly better specs on the color.
Jim Ryan: "160 million. Beat that, Nintendo!".
Nintendo: "Hold our joycons".
Jim Ryan: "Do they have drift?".
Nintendo: "Not that you know. But then again, you don't know".
I get 8 to 10 hrs with my Anker battery pack on my OLED switch.😂😅
Sounds like you should throw out either that casuaLED Switch or the battery pack considering 8 or 9 hours is standard for non-Lite Mariko units.
Three hours was the battery life for original units which had a less power efficient version of the processor.
Lite has Mariko, but has a smaller battery so it cuts play time back to closer to the original unit. Redbox units (both casuaLED and not) produced since mid-2018 have Mariko and the original battery so you should be seeing much higher play time than even that with a battery pack.
OLED is more power hungry (and is one of many reasons it shouldn't be on a dedicated gaming device) but we're talking smaller percentages here.
When I upgraded to a redbox I was even getting 7.5 out of something like The Witcher 3.
I don't think I've ever played my Switch out of dock longer than 2 hours. I guess if you fly a lot you'd want better battery life but otherwise when are you playing in handheld mode for more than 3 hours straight?
Same, I take it out of the dock when I go to a convention and every once in awhile I'll take it to bed with me if I want to get some grinding in an RPG done but that's really it.
Commute into work, lunch hour, commute home. 3 hours was just enough.
There's been a blackops 5? Where have i been? 😂
If we're not ready for bo6, then it better drop with more than 6 maps, ranked, and more than 6 gamemodes too
How much of an influence did Hbomberguy’s video about Tommy Tallarico have on the collapse and sale of Intellivision?
Holy sunburn
Had me thinking the PS2 was dethroned for a moment there
I wouldn't consider Atari acquiring Intellivision really to be the end of that console war, they both got trounced by the newcomer Nintendo Entertainment System and couldn't muster any real sway in the market after that point.
Naughty Dog’s next game should really focus on having fun gameplay, not technically advanced game mechanics, or deep emotional storytelling. I just want to have fun like I did with uncharted.
Always preferred the Atari arcade games over their home console ones. Asteroids, Centipede, Tempest, Crystal Castles, Paperboy, Marble Madness, all classics. I don't think anyone cares about Intellivision anymore.
I LOVE retro gaming and still have many of the consoles I grew up with, including the Atari 2600 and NES, etc. But, I really don't enjoy playing the old pre-NES games. The sound was harsh, and the graphics were almost abstract! I don't have any desire to pick up the old games to play from the Atari / Intellivision era. I'd like to see Atari use their old IP to build new games, but I don't know if they'd generate much interest.
All the power to the Switch. I was in denial when the Switch first crushes the original nes in sales. At the beginning of the video I thought Atari would be done and that would be a sad day for me in gaming. Now I hear this and I am not 100% shocked.
Microsoft, leave Valve alone. All you’re going to do is layoff more people and ruin Valve.
The Atari Recharged games are great reboots.
hi Spawn Wave
I don't know man, the people I know who watched last of us either: a) already liked the games, or b) watched it but didn't play the game after. That's a small test case for sure, but you cannot easily equate popularity of a passive medium to an active one. Druckman's words just come off as wishful thinking to me, at least for now.
I witnessed the same with the people I know when they watched Fallout. It makes an assumption that anyone who watch these shows ultimately cared they were video game related. The people I know who watched them clearly understood they came from gaming, but that again doesn't equate to caring. Knowledge does not always equal interest.
Anybody old enough to remember PS2/PS9 commercial back in 1999. Just wait till we get that. Well I will have to enjoy from beyond unless I make to be 100yrs old. Since it isn't slated be available until the 2070s. Lol
The Call of Duty franchise said they were gto slow down the cycles. I haven't forgotten, im just impressed they are actually following through with something that alters their money printing so much.
The only thing they play tested for black ops six is the in game shop
A.I. ..., if they could enhance NPCs / companions (a bit like the Skyrim Chatgpt mod, but better tailored for gaming), would be wild!
Well flying cars are a thing but it won't be standard issue anytime soon if ever.
Remember, in the PS2 era, Sony released a commercial for the PlayStation 9.
The rumors are Black Ops 6 campaign will be open world. Not like MW3's "open world" that just reused the Warzone map. It will have a bespoke open world map similar to Far Cry, perhaps? Also, there is no danger of Generative AI becoming sentient and wiping out the human race like in most Sci-Fi. That would be Machine Learning AI whose purpose is to analyze and predict vs. Just produce content. This is why Generative AI is so bad at creating certain things because it just takes things and puts them together, but with no deep understanding of how some things works.
I have a Konami football game for the PS1 which says it uses AI to control how the football players move on the field. How much should we be concerned and how much is this overblown?
Intellivision sold off the rights to Astrosmash and Shark! Shark! last year, which were two of their larger IPs
I want to see the Switch break the all time record.
Best selling SyAtem... Don't forget to get some sleep XD only missed a hang full of days since I started watching you what feels like a decade now
That's what i was thinking, in the future you could put a mini PC in a controller and just plug in AR glasses.
I love my switch and have since I got it when it first came out.
The original fight was Commodore vs Atari
I think the ratio of individuals alive now in a given population needs to be a metric considered when determining how successful a console is selling against earlier generations. If the switch sells as many as the ps2 that’s not quite an equal achievement when you consider how much the population has grown in the past 25 years.
Seems like an excuse to keep the default DVD player of the early 2000s as the leading platform metric for video games. Software output from sales to attach tell a bigger picture.
That kinda sounds like a pointless factor.
Correct. In 2005, the world population was 6.5 billion; in 2024, the world population is 8 billion. There should be many more consoles sold, but that's not happening.
Not to assume you’re a Sony Fan, but this sounds like very heavy copium
Then we should all just ignore the PS2 sales numbers too right, since it succeeded on the basis of it being one of the cheaper ways to get a DVD player back in the day? There are always werid factors to take into consideration
Hoping we see Denatons new game revealed, it was teased shortly but never fully revealed
Everyone keeps asking themselves about the Sony screens and controllers from that reval kind of stuff, but if you look at al the different shapes of screens and that controller. It's probably something like the Apple diving glass and everything is AR.
Nintendo surpassed the DS sales in Japan months ago. Famitsu only tracks retailers meaning things sold via sites like Amazon and their own storefront obviously aren't included because they're not retailers.
They were at nearly 33.4 million in December's IR and since September's had just shy of 31.8, presumably they passed it around mid-November.
How can you purport to be a news channel that doesn't read the actual reports?
Neil Drunkman makes me want to play more Japanese games.
Gonna miss the 3ds being on the sales chart.
If they were able to make psvr more along the lines of a meta where you can use augmented reality or some sort of augmented reality glasses that allows you to play a game on a screen size to your liking, it would be awesome. They've tried this sort of with the 3d TV maybe
