- Die spannendste Musik entsteht oft dann, wenn Genregrenzen ignoriert werden. Das gilt auch für die kanadische Songwriterin Frazey Ford. Die 50-jährige Sängerin begann ihre musikalische Laufbahn als "klassische" Songwriterin, die fest im Country und Folk verankert ist. Zunächst spielte Frazy Ford in der Formation "The Be Good Tanyas" klassische Folkmusik, die von Bob Dylan und Townes van Zandt beeinflusst war. Als Solokünstlerin lässt Frazey Ford die Grenzen zwischen Country, Folk und Soul verschwimmen.
Auf ihrem aktuellen Album "U Kin B The Sun" hat sich Frazey Ford vom Folk immer weiter entfernt und ihre Bestimmung gefunden. Die neuen Songs sind sehr persönlich, der Sound ein feiner Mix aus Soul, 70er Jahre Funk und psychedelischen Elementen.
Frazey is very special and makes music like no other musician I know. There are not many musicians you can say that about.

Class, found you after listening to The Be Good Tanyas...
I find Frazey Ford’s music entrancing in so many ways, but her delivery has become so stylized that I catch only the occasional word and have little idea what she’s trying to say. At the same time my favorite singer is Julie Fowlis who sings exclusively in Scottish gaelic of which I understand not a word. So I guess I may not speak “Ford” but I can still love the music.
My favorite Canadian musician eh!

It's such a pity that Darren Parris, Frazey's genius on the bass is hardly ever to see. Especially on the album "U kin b the sun" his bass-play carries the whole album! I would have really enjoyed watching him play the whole time. This guy is so amazing! No doubt, the rest of Frazey's band is obviously excellent but for me it's clearly Darren who is really outstanding.

Gee lyr8cs are poetic/profound - the tremolo in her house make that son have, imo, that much more meaning - the tremolo makes her voice that much more vulnerable- as are her lyrics
