    The change would be good if they weren't undoing the necessary buffs to heroic weapons that happened before. It's like they're tired of players saying how good Ravenloft is. The amber temple rework is outright stupid, and so is nerfing Barovian weapons. Now there will be even less reason to go melee, especially for builds without imbues to compensate for the early heroic weapons being useless.

    Otherwise good but this will kill many raids and weapons, anything but max lvl weps become obsolete. Why get RL weapons when you go fast from 29-32 lvl currently.

      Fair point. The insta lvl 32 after you get to 30 (after you have hit 32 once) is going to be an increasing problem as they raise the level cap towars 40. Loot form content in the 29-cap range is going to be increasingly irellevant.

    I do not like the dumbing down of Amber. If people do not like it, take it out of the Saga, like Crusible on Heroic. Dont change it...

      Agreed. Although I don't necessarily look forward to running it, it's one of the few quests that still gives me that dungeon crawl-y vibe. Especially on HC when you're just praying that the password is behind the next door

      The idea of random quest item locations is very very stupid. In every quest. Especially Amber temple, the quest can be like 4 minute run or 20-30, depending not only on word locations but also most of the time only i know where to go and others run around like a headless chickens, essentially making it so if i get a bad luck i have to scout the whole area alone.

      @@Tomáš_Nithrania As I said I would prefer they just take it out of the Saga and leave it alone. I am not on the race to do as many past lifes as possible, so I do not mind a dungeons taking time. The Pit comes to mind.
      Thinking about it, they could just do like they did with the other random quests i Barovia: Give hints at the start. Personally I would not be a fan, but it at least would not leave the quest completely maimed.
      I am not fond of how every quest these days have to be shake and bake simple. Amber was refreshingly different, and one of those I was always looking forward to due to its random and non linear nature. For me its about the journey, not the destination. And I always had fun with thise one.

      its already so easy and forcing me to sit through a 4 minute cutscene for a quest i can do in 3 is fucking absurd

    Some weapons are nerfed... like Elemental Bloom will lose half a dice. Not a fan of the nerf on some 1-10 weapons. It will hurt the low levels a lot, you dont have much buttons to press and bonuses at that level.

      To be fair this, holistically, is just a GIGANTIC buff in damage. Like. Wowza.
      Also, at low levels (and, tbh, all levels even before this update) melee is strong strong. But particularly at low levels, u can just pump your D6s up anyway. A ML4 double-augmented crafted weapon has 8d6 from extra proc damage alone. So like... the -.5[W] here and there really won't be felt that much. Not to mention, if you're running bloom, you're probably getting whirlwind attack...? Which will definitely make up for it, seeing as that'll now give a +20% increase

    Lowering Barovian weapon damage is going to affect a *HUGE* number of non-endgame players. Most players I play with regularly use Barovian weapons (both versions).

      Everyone uses it while levelling, so yes it will effect people, but it is a damage reduction of 1 (for daggers) up to 3.5 (for greatsword) so I think that it's fairly minor if in the trade off all the level 11+ weapons gain a nice power boost and it's easier to understand.

      @@Strimtom I agree it is minor but it seems bad to affect that many players. It would have been easy to add an adjustment to Barovian weapons too as back in the .5 bump. However, that would keep Barovian weapons better than many others which would discourage using those others (which I’m assuming they are trying to encourage)

    On paper it sounds like classes without flat added damage (which lacked damage in heroics) will lose even more damage. Epics need really big revamps to make melee FEEL as good as casters anyway, be it mobility bonuses or defense on hit(fortify mechanics from other games).

    Why bother with the W nerfs? Melee are too far behind casters. The W nerf is goofy.

      I suspect it's a step towards making true melee more worthwhile in comparison to casters & crossbows. They probably couldn't get around old code somehow.

      @@fyrchmyrddin1937 I don’t believe crossbow is over powered! They hit hard situationally! But all these caster mainly sorc and Druid has gotta go! Even alchemists is just ridiculous strong!

      @@shade6405 In comparison to bows, crossbow (& Inquisitive) is massively overpowered. I can't recall the last time I saw someone mention a "great crossbow" build, but everywhere one goes one sees the Inq dual-wield.

      @@fyrchmyrddin1937 I run traditional arty! It feels balanced! Inquisitive run imbue dice! Depends on the class set up. All single target! So they hit harder with the crossbow and faster situationally. But most of them bring absolutely 0 utility to a group! Absolutely worthless! also imbue dice fall off In high reaper due to dr and resistance! On top of that arty can now maximize, empower, intensify their ruin arms! Witch hit hard af! And buff everybody’s damage in the party bye a good amount! Once I finish gearing ide put my arty up against any of these dw trash inquisitors! But either way neither one of them produce any of the type of dps sorc and Druid do! And that was my original point

    BRUH I CAN DO AMBER TEMPLE IN 4 MINUTES ALREADY AND THEYRE GONNA FORCE ME TO SIT THROUGH A CUT SCENE THAT IS LONGER THAN THE ACTUAL QUEST 😠😠😠😠😠

      They changed it, so now you can click the sarcophagus again and skip the cutscene. Great work us, we complained and now it's fixed. Quest is easier and we can skip the cutscene

    I have reviewed (i was out of country for awhile) I hate them. 3x weapon damage us much better, because I don’t need damage after 20th level. I need the extra damage at tenth level and heroics. This is just another example at ddo’s punitive policies towards heroic game play. At 20th level i can solo legendary content. Try taking a first level character into a 12th level dungeon, see if you can solo it. Thats the difference in power levels between heroic and epic

    Just some quick math (and assuming these attacks added to your existing W mult; so using a +2W attack with a 5W weapon resulted in 7W?); if your "base" is 5W from other sources (since your example was 5.45W), 20% more damage is worth 1W in weapon dice damage alone. So as soon as you're doing enough flat damage that your flat is approx equal to your weapon dice, the new changes are an improvement (if you're doing 5W).

      Biggest thing is going to be your +damage modifier, if you have past lives and lots of +dmg you’ll slay.

      @xaviershaffer5835 Are you talking about the live game or the preview? In the live game you can run amber temple very quickly if you find all the passwords, but on the preview for the next update (which this video is about) you complete the quest by watching the cutscene with Strahd

    This is what players complained when LVL 32 came. Back in the day the excuse was that it was needed to stop the lag. But some players said that they would nerf everyone in order to sell back the power that people used to have at lvl 30 and this extra W damage is pretty much like this.
    Instead of boosting the mobs or creating more reaper levels they focused on this to sell one more rat wheel.
    But DDO needed it? I really would rather have a DDO bug free with cap at 30 with more raids and expansions to play than have more past lives and able to hit lvl 40 with few content at endgame.

    9:00 I don't understand this part. Nothing listed in the post right there says anything about the cut scene or optional ending? I'm not sure where you got the info on the change?
    Edit: I'm going through the wiki and the page and trying to to guess. Is it that Mme Eva always draws the Soldier card now, so now you always have to do the Zhudun thing? ugh, I hate that.

      Which is good and bad.. and some older weapons will be worse while the newer ones better, which makes for simpler weapon gearing choices for min max, less min max variety, for us casuals though, meh

      @@spidersav Sounds about right, yeah. I suppose what you have to consider is what someone should be capable of soloing at low levels, past lives and such all being equal.
      I'd guess maybe they want elite to be a challenge which I'd probably agree with, and then I guess that puts reaper+ in the very high risk category. Which seems ok to me.

      @@CosmicIceCream if you don’t know the quests, and you’re playing at your level, elite for people without past lives, gear or knowledge can be sometimes difficult. Generally speaking it also depends on the complexity and niche of your build. For the most part there are some clssses that breeze thru elite the majority game , that’s when reaper 1 comes in. Maybe 2

    It’s a shame they messed with amber temple. They took away some of the ways we backdoor’d it…I do appreciate the other changes though, addressing balance and power. Good stuff thanks Strim! 🤍

      I did some testing on lamannia and since you don't need to look for passwords anymore that average completion time if actually fairly similar... if you didn't have to watch the 3 minute cutscene with Kasimir and Strahd at the end >.
