- Celebrities took to the red carpet on Monday for the annual fundraising gala at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City for this year's Met Gala, with a theme of "Gilded Glamour."
The event carried a white tie dress code, meaning the fancier the better, and asked attendees to "embody the grandeur - and perhaps the dichotomy - of Gilded Age New York" in the latter part of the 19th century.
Hosts Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds were joined by others dressed head to toe in glamour, including Anna Wintour, Vanessa Hudgens, Ashton Sanders and Janelle Monae.

Totally agree. I'm pleased to report that I've never even heard of most of these ridiculous looking people. Just amazed at how they act this is 'still a thing' - i.e. in an age where virtually no one cares any more about talentless, overpaid celebrities.
I think you mean "Gilded", as in the "Gilded Age". And if these people are supposed to be emulating that, I would say they've failed miserably lol. Blake Lively's dress is nice, though.
She appeared to be the only one that looked “normal” and beautiful! Ryan looked ok too 😁

Why does no one (with the exception of a few) ever come in the THEME? There's a theme for a reason. Come on y'all. Damn
The designers take the theme, in this case “gilded glamour” and interpret elements to the dress. If you look at one of the dresses there are elements of the gilded age which is how most people are thinking of the theme. Corsets, high necks, fringing, flounces, bustles, big skirts and elaborate hairstyles with jewels are all a nod to the theme. It’s just not in your face obvious!
I don't know what kind of award this is but this is the hardest as I've ever seen celebrities dress
It’s the met gala. It’s not an award show it’s a charity event for the Metropolitan Museum I believe.

If Kim Kardashian wore/disgraced Marilyn Monroe’s real dress, I’m going to barf. I actually liked KK alright, but if she thought she was anywhere in the same galaxy as Marilyn, she made herself not just a fool, but disrespected everything that made Marilyn beautiful inside and out. It’s truly depressing they would trash such an artifact
Marylin Monroe was an actress known for her sexuality. She was flaunted, sought after, promiscuous and flirtatious. Artifact??? Really? I think the nostalgia factor is a tad high on this. She was famous in the 1950’s. I get the historical significance, but she wasn’t a Nobel-prize winner or a saint or anything like that. Her and KK are exactly in the same “galaxy.” Just because Marylin Monroe didn’t somehow have a “sex tape” leak out, given the times, you don’t think she wasn’t having sex with many men? KK wearing the dress almost makes perfect sense to some degree given that SHE IS the “Marylin Monroe” of today’s culture.
