    Looks like a great time and a beautiful area to fish. I like the care that is taken to preserve these fish. Thanks for sharing with us.

    I fish sea run brookies some of this size in Washington County Maine in the Chandler River of the town of Jonesboro where my forebears are from and near where I grew up and was raised...even in the summer I've caught them right on the tide, an hour before and slack tide and an hour after it turns. It IS true, they are hungrier

    We have sea runs of brookies here in new brunswick but the numbers go down every year. Its a shame because they are such an amazing creature and its amazing to catch them on a 7 inch smelt fly

      Really 7 inch fly? Pattern name ?

      @@erikroach8235 the Magog and rainbow smelt are 2 common smelt patterns I know of. I've never seen them 7" long although it would make sense,seeing how that would be about the average size of a smelt

    I live on pei too. I caught 20 fish over 3lbs in the last 2 days. Big fish here. Got them 7lb 8lbs etc. Been fly fishing here for 16 years and have close to 500 pictures of huge sea run. Thousands caught. Some days you can get 20+ fish over 2lbs when they’re in thick.

    Fabulous as always. Question...nice brookies but I expected sea run Brookies to be bigger???

    • @newflyfisher
      @newflyfisher  5 років тому

      There are much bigger fish but unfortunately in the time we were there, the bigger specimens had not started their runs up river yet. Good question!

    Was wondering what they did for bear protection, then I saw the guides with rifles on their backs, !

    • @newflyfisher
      @newflyfisher  5 років тому

      The Human voice and banging rocks together are generally enough to deter a bear... failing that, a bear banger, failing that, a bear flare.. failing that, bear spray, failing that, thrown rocks failing that a slug in the air, failing that, a slug in the ground... They have been incident free since the beginning.

      Wasn’t judging you guys Koodos to you that you have never shot a bear, however nice to know that if that rogue bear appears you are equipped to deal with it

      @newflyfisher  5 років тому

      @@Bill-cv3dy I for sure didn't think you were judging! that was the EXACT question we asked the guides! Literally that was their answer.. Each of them, then, pulled out a rock from each of their jacket pockets. Such and amazing experience.
