Try out SSDNodes VPS Services! Amazing Specs for incredibly low costs. I'm running a 32 GB RAM / $ CPU Server for only $9 a month! Seriously. FOr long term server usage, this is the way to go!

All, I was having an off day when I recorded this, so there is one place where we are adjusting the config.ini file. You need to change the "localhost:8080" entry in that config to be the domain name you want for your blog. for instance "blog.example.com". You also need to make sure both the config.ini in the writefreely folder, and the writefreely.ini that you copied it from are the same. I should have said that in the video but lost track during the three or four times I tried to record it and had technical glitches in the recording make me have to redo it. Anyway, I have all the information on the shownotes, so please make sure to check those out.
Ghost might be worth a look, but it was cool to hear about write freely
Ghost isn't bad, but it was a bit unstable for me after a while. I was using it for my shownotes for quite a while, and it had some nice features.
Nice video. Thank you very much. It's what I was looking for.
Glad to hear that!
Thank you for this! I appreciate what you do : )
You are so welcome!
Not sure if there's an issue on my end or yours, but when going to your diy blog site, clicking "read more" fails with an error "unable to connect at localhost:8080". But thank you for sharing this! will spin this up
Yeah, it's on mine, sorry. I'll try to fix it later today. In the video where I said "leave the configuration as localhost..." I was mistaken. I corrected it in my show notes. I just need to make the change and restart the service I believe.
Which linux distro do you use?
Currently using Kubnuntu 23.04
Hi Friend, you have a typo "Insatllation" . Thanks for this video!
Appreciate that.
What is the difference between WordPress and writefreely. Both are open source and free to use.
Wordpress is an awesome bit of open source software, but a bit bloated for what I wanted. Write freely is just a simple application to write, draft, and publish. Nothing else to be done really. Simplicity, i suppose, is the biggest diference.
@@AwesomeOpenSource so writefreely also needed a host like WordPress.
It's a web application, so it needs a web server, but it's built into the container.
@@AwesomeOpenSource Okay thanks bro. I have a request. Please do make a video of setting up a server for business needs, fully open source and Linux. You may try with Akamai.
a little confusion today? ;-)
I’m a lot confused, everyday. :-)
nice work - tnx !@@AwesomeOpenSource
love your content dude can you please make a video for fail2ban?
It's on my list. Let me do some digging and see if I can bump it up a bit.
I pronounce Imgur as "image-err". Anybody else pronounce it like that?
I believe I said it that way (once) in my follow up video for this next week. And yes, I think it is intended to be "imager".
