Yes Sir, one of the things I enjoy watching Who Tee Who is his thanking the Good Lord for everything, such a good role model for our younger sportsman to watch. No alcohol, no cussing or fussing. So many people nowadays don’t thank the Good Lord for anything, wishing the Rickan7 family good shooting and Gods blessings to you all. 💪🏽🎥💯👍🙏🏻

@@AdamCraigOutdoors man i swear by them! They are tack driving machines! I traded a different rifle i had for a higher end browning xbolt and hated it. It just was nothing like i anticipated it to be and was disappointed. But the tikka, there was no disappointment. You can’t miss. It basically shoots itself lol. To me, they’re worth every penny! I’ll put it this way, i love mine so much that I’m not passing it down for when i pass away. That thing is being buried with me! Lol

    Great hunt!
I’m planning to use my old 1965 Revelation model 225 in .222 Remington for deer next season. It’s a western auto store branded Savage 340. It’s always been a tack driver. Pop shot one with it several years ago with a 60 grain Hornady bullet in a mild hand load at around 2700 FPS. He did a regulation heart/lung area body shot and it dropped stone cold within 20 yards.

When I grew up in Virginia in the 70s, you could only use 23 caliber and larger for big game. The 22-250 was a hot varmint rifle. Farmers would ask people to get rid of the ground hogs so the cows wouldn't step into the burrows and break legs. I always knew the 22-250 would probably be a good deer rifle but never got the chance to find out. As usual, another great video and congratulations on a really nice buck!!!!

I know this is an odd caliber but you should do a video on the .30-40 Krag round. When I was visiting upper N.Y. state back in the late 70s I would pop varmints at anywhere from 75 to 200 yards. Very effective round.

Long “horned” whitetail? 😂. Just picking on you. Gratz on nice buck 👍😎
And I agree, most “hunting” shows are lame. And I use the term hunting very loosely. They should just be called shooting shows. Not much hunting required when the deer are trained to come out to the food plot at specific time when a feeder goes off.
I want to see more hunting, shows describing how they did it , what are they looking for out in the woods, specific signs they are reading, tracking and learning patterns. That is deer hunting. Congrats again.

Reminds me of a few rained soaked outings on the San Joaquin river chasing striped bass. All day long, soaked, shivering and nothing to show for the effort. One time I literally called my day after being out so long and right when I began to pull gear- bam! A keeper hit me and it made that day pay off.

I think the biggest difference is in your bullet types. The soft point is made to go deeper before expanding and breaking apart compared to the 55gr varmint round which is meant to explode (basically) on impact. Deer could be dropped with both rifles, but neither should be used if it’s a faster expanding varmint round that might not do deep enough damage on medium sized game like deer. 👍🏼

Inside 50 yards most any bullet can do the job. A 55 to 63 gr cup and core bullet is a good choice for deer hunting at longer ranges. Premium monometal bullets give less expansion with deeper penetration.
I have killed deer with both cup and core as well as monometal bullets. The monometal don't leave lead fragments in the meat. A good idea for those who feeds young kids wild game.

Nice video. I have been trying to watch some hunting videos with the 22-250. I purchased one not that long ago and have finally worked up some decent loads for it. Seeing it was used short range shot placement was definitely easier to obtain and the shock of that high-speed bullet would certainly do the job. It just kind of makes me wonder though about 50 grain bullets on a big buck. I have been working loads that are 62 grains and have a couple of bullets in the 60 grain that I will be working with. It is easier to make what you want than find it in a store. Again, nice video.

Hand warmers(and foot Warmers) work wonders!! Yo need to check them out! A Pet Peeve of mine(proper word usage) you do not " catch a Deer" (or whatever you are hunting) when you are hunting. You are either killing the Deer(I know too hard of a word for some of the snow flakes) or (the most accepted Phase) is that you Harvested a Deer( or whatever you are hunting! Too catch something implies that it is "Caught" Alive!! Rant Over! Other Wise great video and a GREAT Deer! Great Job W.T.W!!

I inherited a 22-250 savage and I've been trying to figure out what to do with it. I have wanted to keep it but I don't need a varmint gun. It was used for protecting cattle from feral dogs, but i'm not a rancher so I don't need it for that. My main interest is hunting, but seems every review I see says "don't use it on anything bigger than a coyote." I've thought about using it for antelope but i've been seeing a lot of nay saying on that too. I think I'm trying to decide if I can make it work for what I do or trade/sell it for something a little more versatile. Seems 243 win is the smallest people suggest for deer around where I'm at, and that's considered marginal too. Nice to see your video of someone actually using it for deer.

I shot 2 deer with it last year. At reasonable distances - I'd say 200 yards and in, with the right bullet itbis great for deer

Hopefully, one of these days you will bag a 16 pointer like a friend of mine did before he passed away! You would have liked him! Here's some coffee ☕ to warm up with!

Interesting. I always heard if you use a small caliber use a heavy bullet or it won't penetrate enough. But this worked.

I am a big fan. When using a .22 for deer bullet type and shot placement are critical. Obviously, your shot placement was dead on. I would look into a monolithic bullet in the 70 gr range for the 22/250. We use Barnes and Maker copper monolithic.
Light, fast bullets do not leave any margin for errors. I like your stand for Jesus Christ. Faith/fear!
