      @@Thousand_yard_King I’ve shot em , prairie dogs, far as we could see em across canyons with a 22lr semiautomatic. Took several shots but when you finally hit em you could hear that thump come back. I’d say it was close to 800-1000 yards. We just aim way the hell high at a bush or something and adjust. Then when ya get close keep shooting. They couldn’t hear it so they wouldn’t go in.
      Also..... we were all 82nd airborne artillery guys too. Had fisters, me FDC, and a commo guy out there. So we shot some serious high angle stuff. All Kentucky windage of course. I am from Ky. Those other guys were Wyoming crazy people.

      @@trevorstrutt1 nope…. I’m not lying and I have two other vets that can back me up. Yes it takes a lot of shots. Yes it takes luck. Yes sometime they go in their hole and get away. But that far away they don’t hear the shot and will often just sit there and let you keep trying. I believe I already said this in my post. Why would I lie and make up a story about something that is not consequence to anyone??? What would I have to gain??? I don’t know about all the time but I’ve done it on at least 3 outings. It can be done. No you won’t get a first shot kill or probably even 4 shot kill. But if you keep adjusting aim for impact you will eventually dial them in close enough and possibly get a kill. You are an ass hole for calling me a liar. You can say it’s far fetched or no way or whatever. Don’t call me a liar.

    I tipped up at Bisley in the early 90'swith a 1 in 12 308 enfield and 220 grain matchking handloads. Everyone said it wouldnt go to 1000 yards as the twist was too slow. With a great wind coach and peep sights I managed 98 out of 100 with 5 V bulls. The entire firing line had stopped and was watching me. They thought I had some wonder weapon. At the time 155 grain was just appearing.

    I've shot that cartridge for 40 years varmiting and roll my own ammo for a Remington 700 BDL with a Canjar set trigger . I did a chamber cast right out of Remington's Ilion custom shop and all my reloads conform to that casting dimensions . I neck tuirn and fire form new brass then neck size with a slight shoulder bump and trim the inside of the primer lance hole . When I'm in ( er was ) in good shooting form it regularly hit chucks at 400 -+ measured yds. It shot best with 62 - 65 grain spire point BT and H380 . Not surprised a more modern rifle and scope can do better !

    Great ! I am a fan. I like your videos. I like the way you do it. I didn't have people telling me what I could and couldn't do. In the 80s and 90s I hit many coyotes and some jack rabbits at 800 yds. plus with both a Ruger No.1 and an Interarms Classic. Both 22-250 and usually with 55 gr. Hollow Point Boat Tail Bullets. ( There were places where we knew the range because of landmarks. ) We had no rangefinders or bullet drop compensator scopes. I had a standard 4 to 12 and 3 to 9 power scopes, 10 power binoculars and a 60 power spotter scope wich we seldom used. But the thing that we didn't have was the techno guys telling us how to do it. I also took 3 antelope at 1000 yards ( give or take 10 yards due to measuring in the desert ) and another which was not measured but was at least as long ( friends thought much longer ). I used a Parker Hale 7MM Rem Mag. with a 3 to 9 Weaver Scope and 139 grain bullets. These were actually hand loads which I worked out over a period of time. You can do it if you want to. Good luck. Mac

      I had a 22-250 in a Savage model 12 LRPV with a 1/9 twist barrel. The barrel was either 24” or 26” long. It would stabilize both 80 and 82 grain Berger Bullets. Shot good but I wanted to shoot F-TR so I changed the barrel to a Brux, 1/11 twist in .308. I gave or sold the 22-250 barrel to someone (another mistake I’ve made in this lifetime). I’ve lost my load data for that load but was recently told that someone has the load data in their load manual for the 80 and 82 grain Bullet. Enjoy and have a good day at the range.

    I had a rem 700 sps varmint in 22-250 (now rebarelled in 6.5 creedmor) had to change the stock (rem stock was horrible) put an hs precision stock, a 20 moa base, a simple Redfield hunting scope. If I remember the Remington barrel was 1-14 twist. I was reloading for it, 55 gr vmax on target. That rifle liked a little hot ammo better. Man size steel at 1000 yard was not too bad as long as there was no wind (once I even could it my 10 " round steel target) but at that distance we can't really have "accurate" hit.
    To me, 600 yards is where this caliber shine the most. Easy to shoot, easy to reload for. After about 3500 res my barrel was toast and decided to have it converted to a 6.5 creedmor. I still miss that 22-250, it's a very good round.

    Hey that looks like you had a great time at the range.
    The 22-250 is an awesome little cartridge.
    I have owned one for over 35 years.
    The best coyote and gopher cartridges.
    I do agree with the comment that it would be better with a 70 gr bullet for 1000 yards.
    But you did prove that it can do it with a 55gr.👍👍
    If you put a 30 MOA rail on it you would get more elevation with out guessing hold over.
    Cheers

    I use to think the bigger the better but when I started getting older about 20 years ago I didn't like getting the crap bet out of me and started varmint hunting and picked up the 22's. I bought a 220 swift after I seen a guns and ammo article on the Remington model 700 bdl first production that bob milick (spelling?) did. I bought the same gun with the same scope in the article. Oh what a blast. 55 grain nosler ballistic tip reloads I do. High winds keep it under 300 but if it's calm dust them easily up to 600.

    CVA Cascade has the potential to be a great rifle. Bergara and CVA are owned by the same company down in Georgia. This rifle has a Bergara barrel, Timney rem 700 style trigger, and a big three lug 70 degree bolt. The scope base is the same as a savage model 110.

    What does Google know. That's pretty cool. I've done 700 with my 22-250 and haven't bothered any further since my rounds are probably going back transonic at about 750 according to my ballistics app. Now 700 yds for my 260 Rem is a cake walk....which is only to be expected.

    Back in my boot camp days in 1965 at the Edson Range while in Platoon 347, we had to qualify with our M14’s including 500 yards! Hell, after 500 yards 1,000 ain’t shit. LOL! Think about it, 500 yards with standard M14 sights not a scope. SEMPER-FI all!

      Yeah, I'm on my third 22-250 barrel/gun and I mostly shoot the Nosler 40gr in a 14 Twist Rem take off barrel refitted to my action and when I saw 1000 yds I figured a custom 8 twist throated barrel for an 80 gr SMK. I wouldn't shoot the forty grain at anything past 300 yds and it will nearly one hole at 100 yds. I've shot my 6.5 X 47 out to 700 yds with good results but never 1000 yds. Things go away fast after 700 yds. I've shot 7mm08s out to a thousand yds and ran out of elevation on iron sites and scopes.

    Who Tee Who..... That was awesome shooting at the 1000 yard mark. That last shot was dead center on the left edge of that plate. You should invite that other channel out to the range with you, so that he has an opportunity to update his page on your rifle's capabilities. Let' not forget that last shot was accomplished with your scope maxed out. Now I am not sure what impressed me most that rifle or your shooting abilities.

    Well i guess you found out why people recommend heavier bullets for 1000 yards. I have a 7 twist 22-250 and shoot the 95 smk. It does really well at 1000 yards and it only takes 24 moa to get there.
    Your cva did surprise me. Very accurate

  • @keithjurena9319
    @keithjurena9319 3 роки тому

    Bullet is going subsonic at 750 yards, causing instability which kills accuracy.
    Now if you could get tungsten bullets, a 55 grain length bullet would be 85 grains which would stay supersonic at 1200 yards.

  • @welders485

  • @ronthompson2366
    @ronthompson2366 3 роки тому

    Surprised anyone would say that it would not do it. But use some 20 moa bases and you can take that off the scope and allow you to dial in better...
