Thanks for taking back to my younger days when I did much the same. I worked as a projectionist 1962-1968. in Navy theaters. People don't know how much time is spent before a movie was ever projected in the theater. Worked on a world war II projector with carbon arc lamp house. the projectors were salvaged from the world war II battleship Missouri.

My first ever job was as a projectionist showing 35mm and 70mm films on carbon arc projectors. Star Wars, Alien & Rocky where just 3 of the blockbusters I remember showing.

Me too. 1956, filling in for vacations and days off of other ops, including my dad. I was 16 yo.

Been doing 35mm film projection as a hobby for about 5 years now. Love it. Saw this vid when I got into it. Watched it a dozen times to learn stuff. Film is a lot of fun. Thanks for sharing

It's neat to see the old ways that are all but gone. Film is rare enough, but an operating, multi-projector, platterless setup is even more so.

FP38 E is the standard for projecting archival 16/35mm prints. Ran "The Third Man" off 2000' reels the other day. Boss ran 12 reels of "The Godfather II".

    What movie was being projected?

Suspicion (1941), directed by Alfred Hitchcock. In the film, the chunk you saw has Lina McLaidlaw (played by Joan Fontaine) saying, "Oh no, I won't be seeing any men in Rio," while on the train. Suspicion is a classic Hitchcock thriller that stars Cary Grant and Joan Fontaine, with Fontaine winning an Academy Award for her performance.
