- Let's look at the unique qualities of polymer banknotes!
First introduced by the Central Bank of Australia, these notes are said to be much more durable than paper banknotes. Because of their durability, the cost of replacement and reproduction significantly decreases.
Unlike paper banknotes, polymer notes have a unique, waxy texture when held. They also allow for many security features that can't be applied to paper money. A genuine polymer banknote should retain shape after it is scrunched up!

The recent redesign of the Australian banknote are brilliant and extremely hard to copy, criminals are having a much harder time printing them than the did before the redesign.
A review of the US $2 bill would be nice. So, when folks tell me it doesn't exist I can show them your video!

I like the look and the feel of paper banknotes. I still see good reasons to use polymer banknotes. Would they survive a ride in the washing machine if forgotten in the pocket?
Yes they do. But they can get a little melty if your drier is set to hot.

The Philippines will also have Polymer banknotes with the Help of Austraila
They are very nice.
The lower denominations of Singapore's current issue are polymer (S$50, S$100, S$1000 are still paper/cotton but these notes aren't much is circulation).

Its nice. But isnt sensitive to heat? Will it deform when exposed to heat? Like for example ur out, like in a beach. U have it in ur wallet inside ur bag. And ur bag got exposed to sun for several hours. Will it get damaged? Just curious.
Chance of happening during normal conditions is low because that is taken into account when being engineered.

there was also Bangladeshi 10 Taka Banknote in 2001 witch was a special addition of polymer banknote.

I bet more people are losing money since polymer notes were introduced. They are very springy when folded and also smooth and slippery, if you have them loose in your pocket and folded they are prone to falling out more than paper notes.
That is a very interesting thought! :D Although polymer banknotes can be more prone to being lost they are longer lasting overall, they also help curb waste and counterfeiting. We say the benefits outweigh the risks in this instance, thanks for sharing! :)
