Modern Baseball is my favourite band of all time. No band has ever influenced or affected me in the same way that Brendan, Jake, Ian and Sean did. Brendan's unflinching honesty within his lyrics helped me come to terms with my own flaws and vulnerabilities. Jake's complex and deep lyrics are so inspiring as a writer, and the personalities of both Ian and Sean make this band absolutely perfect.
I can't believe that someone is doing video essays on my favorite albums and bands. This is a good day. Also your narration style is amazing i like how you slip into your script a bit from your real life experience, it makes it more authentic. KEEP IT UP -a fan and a fellow creator
I kinda wish I knew you in real life. It's really tough to find friends I can talk about music with like this, let alone go into an in-depth discussion on Modern Baseball. These two videos so far have hit me like no other music album review videoes has done to me. You present a discussion about Modern Baseball that makes me feel happy in the inside, knowing there is someone who cares about bands like Modern Baseball as much as I do. Although that may sound kinda selfish (probably is, idk I word things weird sometimes), but I am just glad there are people who care about bands in this way as much as I do. In this case though, you clearly show more dedication than I ever could. I wish I can like the video more than once.
That song was literally my entire time with my crush in middle school. She was always with some scumbag, was suicidal, and she never gave herself a break. In the end, I took my shot, and failed. Haven't seen her since I graduated.
Whats the general opinion on TFB? I haven't followed them for a few years, but I checked in a few months ago and it seems like their discography is a steady decline from genre defining folk-pop-punk to generic pop rock.
You should definitely talk about the Perfect Cast EP. Some of the songs there would have made Holy Ghost an even better record. Great video as always, my dude.
I still prefer Holy Ghost (one of my favorite albums of all time) but Waterboy, Alpha Kappa, and Thrash Particle are some of my favorite tracks from them.
when i first got into mobo i wasn’t huge on them but they had some songs i really liked which led me to periodically find all of the songs on this album at different points in my life cause i never listened to it all at once which makes every song mean something different to me and takes me back to a different point in my life and it just makes this one of my favorite albums ever and gives me a really warm feeling about the memories i’ve made growing up.
Holy Ghost is and will always be my favorite album. So much more mature than the other two, and much stronger emotionally. The paired documentary really shows a lot too. It's honestly criminally underrated how little that album gets compared to the other two. But it's a lot easier to understand not enjoying it as much when you can't relate to the lyrical content as much. But if you can relate to holy ghost, then it's a whole different experience and I'm sorry you're going through that.

I actually began listening to MoBo for real a couple months ago (yes I'm late for the party I know) and I feel like they are the band that I have needed since my adolescence and didn't know about. I live very far away from the USA (Brasil) and so it's music that we have to actively search the internet to find, it's not really a part of our reality. And god, I wish I had found them sooner. They talk about everything that I sometimes feel, and do so in such a honest, true and simple way, it makes life feel easier. Shoutout to everyone who still keeps them in their hearts!!

Hey, just found this band maybe six months ago, and I'm a sophomore in college and these videos are bringing to light a whole new view of their music thank you so much
So many memories with this album. My best friend and I had managed to get tickets to the Greatest Generation Tour, one of the shows in March, and YGMiA came out just a month before, and I remember blasting this album on the way to the show. I remember singing Rock Bottom in the pit, and everyone screaming “whatever forever” as loud as they possibly could. I think one of the greatest strengths about the album is how a lot of the songs are both catchy and simple. Fine Great, Rock Bottom, Apartment, Your Graduation... all of them were fairly simple chord songs, but they were so catchy and fun to play. I have a ton of memories of my old band just sitting around when someone would pick up a guitar, play a few chords, and we’d all be singing the song together after a couple seconds. You’re Gonna Miss It All is one of my favorite records of all time, thanks for making an incredible video about it. Lots of love for this channel
Hey Nate! I just discovered your channel, and you're MoBo content is amazing! But, you actually forgot one notable thing about Rock Bottom... I had never heard of Sorority Noise before, but I became obsessed. I’ve never once seen an opening act that gave me goosebumps & made my heart burst. Man, these videos have made me go back and listen to these albums. It's gives the best kind of nostalgia. Also why does no one talk about the sappiest cutest love song "how do I tell a girl I want to kiss her" ? I used to listen to that song on repeat my Jr year of highschool.
I've only started listening to midwest emo music recently. I'm 16 and this is my music. I love it. they literally get it man and they're sound is amazing aswell as their simple yet deep lyricism
I'd love to hear opinions on The Nameless Ranger; as someone who loves everything they ever put out, TNR is my favorite Mobo release and it isn't even close.
I used to hate this band for their immature sound but after going through a hard break up, I can relate to all of their lyrics weirdly well. They have been the best form of therapy for me and I'm really thankful for that.
Thats the best part imo, the immature sound resonates with a deep part of you that you may rather look past and ignore but will always be part of you; that sad lost kid trying to mkae it in a cruel and scary world
Do you not listen to Seahaven? I haven't heard you mention them in any of your videos and they're up there with turnover. Those two bands had the almost exact same type of progression
The fossils of my footsteps will be unearthed at a far off date unknown
Impressed in concrete from walking home alone after walking you home

Man, these videos have made me go back and listen to these albums. It's gives the best kind of nostalgia. Also why does no one talk about the sappiest cutest love song "how do I tell a girl I want to kiss her" ? I used to listen to that song on repeat my Jr year of highschool.
Ive never heard broken cash machine but reading those lyrics on screen hit harder than most lyrics ive heard damn
How Modern Baseball Wrote A Pop Punk Masterpiece :
By being masterpieces as well
The Perfect Cast is my favourite Modern Baseball anything. Definitely talk about it.
Can't Wait for Holy Ghost video :) Love the content!
Thank you Nate you are awesome!!
This is top notch. Surprised this came out on the day when the person who got me into this band noticed me.
it’s been 3 whole years of me thinking about you every day 😭😭
I've only started listening to midwest emo music recently. I'm 16 and this is my music. I love it. they literally get it man and they're sound is amazing aswell as their simple yet deep lyricism
Awesome video essay man! And I was pumped there was another Walter song in the opening.
They are basically if Superbad was a band
Look at us... all secretly listening to these amazing bands
life was so much better when these guys were still together
You should definitely do a video on The Perfect Cast
This made my day better mate
DUUUUDE if you did the perfect cast that would be so cooool! Love that ep so much
I was supposed to see them back in 2016 when they toured with Brand New but I was late and missed them and The Front Bottoms 😭
Not really related to the video, but where do you buy your hats? Been looking for one for a long time and can't find any good looking ones.
I'd love to hear opinions on The Nameless Ranger; as someone who loves everything they ever put out, TNR is my favorite Mobo release and it isn't even close.
"And I hate worrying about the future, 'cause all my fuckin' problems are based around the past."
The Perfect Cast is probably my favorite release of theirs! Its worth talking about!
Another amazing video :))
You should totally do a fourth video about the EP'S
Loving this series dad
I wish they were still together, I would have loved to see them in concert
I thought they're just on a hiatus
Harira Sekar they said they were but it’s been years so I doubt they’ll come back
Watching this on YGMIA’s 10th anniversary
I found this band so long ago while I was drunk alone in my friends basement after my ex broke up w me. Needless to say I was jamming.
I used to hate this band for their immature sound but after going through a hard break up, I can relate to all of their lyrics weirdly well. They have been the best form of therapy for me and I'm really thankful for that.
Thats the best part imo, the immature sound resonates with a deep part of you that you may rather look past and ignore but will always be part of you; that sad lost kid trying to mkae it in a cruel and scary world
i miss them.
this is magnificently.
Nate You NEED to listen to a band called gold route, crimanlly underatted
sick walter mitty in the intro
Well, I discovered this band last month, so I guess I did miss it all...
same as me man, im really sad too it wouldve been great to grow with them and experience it firsthand
Can you do ever do an sorority noise type of video like this
Subscribed as soon as I heard Caterpillars by Walter Etc.
Please make one of the EP its my personal favorite
you should change the title to "Nate the Mate reads modern baseball lyrics for 18 minutes"
Do you not listen to Seahaven? I haven't heard you mention them in any of your videos and they're up there with turnover. Those two bands had the almost exact same type of progression
12:20 is it weird that I’m the exact opposite of that picture? 😂
