JD is awesome. The consummate players-player. The guy absolutely plays his ass off, loves the guitar and everything associated with it. The rig construction is absolutely beautiful. You can tell ToneMerchants' rig builds just by lookin at them. Dave Friedman did an amazing job building it. Flawless.
I hope the PG producers realize what a gem they have in Rebecca. She's smart, vibrant, has a personality, and knows her stuff. This was most definitely not Rebecca.
What Justin said about Dunlop Crybaby 535Q wah pedal is "he tends to keep it on the higher range or the highest range". I have a Dimebag Darrell Signature Crybaby From Hell wah pedal that I got for my 17th birthday in February. Nice camo paint job. I keep it the range selector either position #6 (the deep throaty tone; the darker sound I get), position #3 with the "fine-tune" control counter-clockwise with punchy low-end, position #4 (almost towards the lower range) and position 1 (the brighter sound) with the "fine-tune" control clockwise at 2.2 kilohertz.
Mr. Justin Derrico's a nice dude who is grateful. Those that are dissin' him are just jealous. Ms. Eva Gardner is a delicious combination of smart and cute; I loved her immediately. Pink has a great stringed instrument team backin' her sassy ass up!
I used to have the BOSS BF-3 flanger on my pedalboard. Loved it when I used it. Quick tip for that pedal: zero the controls except dime the level. It's a cool delay type sound. I actually got that from BOSS themselves.
EVA! Cutie and a rocking bassist! We used to sell Rotosounds in my brother's music store in Tallahassee, FL in the early-mid '70s ... That bass player named "McVie" came in one day and asked me if we had any sets, and I was out!! And was too busy to even talk to him!! Argghh! NOTHING like an Ampeg SVT bass amp. Woof.
I agree! However, I wonder how much easier life would be if Justin would make the same switch you did. I'd be so concerned that something would break during a show.
You don't absolutely need to be a gear head to be a professional musician, some guys know next to nothing about the techy stuff but just know what sounds they like and stick to a basic setup. Justin went to GIT and plays a bunch of sessions as well as being the house guitarist on The Voice so he has to keep on top of all this stuff.
PG has to wait until the artist comes around the Chicago area to do the filming. Bon Jovi is in Chicago in July. IF they are gonna do a Phil Rundown, that's when it will come.
Right. Ive been playing for forty years. Always try to take care of my instruments, and not ding or damage them. I hate "scars". Natural wear, earned after many years on an instrument, fine. Shows what you've been doing. Relicing? Posing.
I could do a better job interviewing Justin standing on my head. Especially a guitarist like Justin since he's a gizmo freak. This dude is putting me to sleep.
Meanwhile at a boozer in the South of England this guitarist makes one trip from the car and arrives at a pub gig with his boss Katana (disguised as a boutique amp with fender grill cloth and chrome corner pieces), GAFC EX footswitch and a double guitar backpack 😂
WHEN ARE YOU GOING TO MAKE A SEPULTURA'S RIG RUNDOWN ????? Paulo Xisto Junior has a killer Zon basses collections and a mysterious amp rig !!!! Please do something )))))
"So I went to Fender to pick up my custom shop bass and then they ask me, hey do you want this Custom Shop Bass too? And I was like yeah." Must be nice😅
Some of you are way too harsh on relicing of new guitars. While some do it for the poser effect, the one Justin is showing goes far beyond that, and there's good reason for a pro like him to have one. For starters, the truth is these guys are so busy, they don't have time to break in a new guitar very deeply that they only play in one song. New guitars often don't have character, and distressing them can be helpful. A true relic process does a lot more than change the paint, though that is the first thing you notice. Scuffing/nicking/dirtying the paint makes the guitar feel very different in your hands than a shiny new guitar. It contributes to how you feel about playing it, which changes how you handle it. Distressing it in places like the headstock gives it a totally different feel under your fingers as you play it. You now run into different textures as you play rather than shiny new-guitar smoothness. Plus, good distressors make non-obvious changes that affect the sound of the guitar as well. Let's not forget the elephant in the room: this is a show. A giant arena sized-show. It's supposed to be over-the-top. There is an element of "looks" involved. It's part of his job is to fit in with the look of a show. His amps and gear are mostly hidden. That leaves his axe to show off. Calm down on the "relic" hate. There's a time and a place for it, and in this setting, given his day job, it's entirely appropriate. When ya'll are playing world-class top end tours, then you get to gripe. Until then, keep practicing and playing those bar gigs, and relax.
Brianna S I AGREE...People are way to touchy on this subject...I always say "If you care what your guitars look like, hang it on a wall." Its a tool, a musical shovel so to speak...Who cares what it looks like? The answer: Other musicians.
Id really love to see a Rig Rundown on 30 Seconds to Mars. But, Im not sure PG is reading these comments, so I'll leave a few crumbs around, to see if they pick up on it?!
WELL ACTUALLY "THEY" ARE NOT MORE THAN MINSTRELS FOR"PINK" OR WHOEVER ELSE HIRES AND PAYS THEM BIG BUCKS TO DO, AND BE WHAT THEY WANTED TO BE, MUSICIANS! ITS A GOOD LIVING
Towards the end of the interview ' but it's really pretty cut - and - dried ' - after a solid, 25 minutes of back- to- back description of his axes + rig - ha : }
Wow, Jason thank you for making an ass of this guy. "pretty sexy" "all that matters right?" "do all your guitars have the rubber bind for your rock pose?" You're awesome.
"I think this knob blends in this pickup". Really, how can you not know what the knobs on your guitar do?? I didn't see what was on the lower bout of the first LP, for his 'rock pose'. As usual 25min guitar and 5min bass but hey, it was nice to end with Eva's bit.
Yeah, man, you're right about that. that's my impression on this guy, too...I don't know why Premier guitar even hired this guy..He doesn't even know how to smile and therefore he doesn't have that "friendly approach". He's the one supposed to introduce the guitarist to the viewers..In this video the guitarist, Justin Derrico is the one who's kind of acted like he's the "interviewer"...This fat-ass interviewer is so UNPROFESSIONAL and kind of RUDE !

Great, great player, super nice guy. I wish him all the best . . .
I've gained a lot of respect for Eva over the years. GIRL POWER!
I hope the PG producers realize what a gem they have in Rebecca. She's smart, vibrant, has a personality, and knows her stuff. This was most definitely not Rebecca.
Always glad to find another CE-2 fan.
I'd love to see the rundown of Justin's "The Voice" rig. It has to be the most versatile rig out there, covering every sound from country to opera
Great rig. Justin's such a great player, too.
This kid is a wicked player, check out some clips of his solo stuff and with Pink!
Holy CRAP - how does Justin remember all of that?? Amazing.
I like the way Eva keeps it retro as an homage to her dad. Cool.
Who was her dad?
Such a cool rig, Justin’s a beast player

I love it when Eva say's watching her dad showed her the best way to amplify bass..
Please do a Matt Bellamy &/or Chris Wolstenholme rig rundown! That would be epic!
dude is such a versatile guitar player. I love the players that can play everything
So awesome to be on a huge gig like that where you can play these ridiculous rigs.
Jazz IIIs for life.
Yes! They should do that!
From Springfield to doing rig rundowns. Well done Milhouse ;)
I used to have the BOSS BF-3 flanger on my pedalboard. Loved it when I used it. Quick tip for that pedal: zero the controls except dime the level. It's a cool delay type sound. I actually got that from BOSS themselves.
i remember being at V festival back in like 06/07 sometime and i walked past as pink were playing. this guy alone made me stop and watch.
His "main" guitar is a stock Gibson with a broken neck repair - go figure- it's all in the fingers and the soul...
You need to get a Black Rebel Motorcycle Club rig rundown!
Dude is a BEAST of a player.
Eva was very cool. She is into old school! Cool! And influenced by her Dad. sweet.
WOW! That's a lot of gear. I could spend a week just playing like a little kid.
The Edge has nothing on Justin!
Eva has a real down to earth vibe.
They fail to mention that Eva was the first bassist in The Mars Volta
Sweet Gig for sure
EVA! Cutie and a rocking bassist! We used to sell Rotosounds in my brother's music store in Tallahassee, FL in the early-mid '70s ... That man, Justin. He's a cool smooth "scat" man. LOL on the word "scat".
Great rig rundown, you know...
Such a good dude

😂😂😂 who really cares! Just play the damn thing!!
Justin is a badass... How can you not be with the name Justin ha!
She is so incredible 😮
Any chance for a Wes Borland run down
In love with Eva Gardner😍
@premierguitar any chance you guys can do a green day rig rundown or a gaslight anthem?
I agree - put your own dings on the guitar. It's like some folks want instant authenticity. Play it and give it your own story..
The dude is playing a world tour with sold out shows. Pretty sure he's an authentic player with or without relic guitars. Jealousy is an ugly thing...
😂 it’s funny - I made that comment 11 years ago.. (looks like in reply to another comment that has disappeared)
Nowadays I really don’t give a shit..
Jeeez, this guy deserve to be interviewed by Rebecca.
Definitely!
did anyone catch the name of those acoustics he's using? I couldn't read the headstock.
hi can anyone help whats that slightly distorted intro on trouble ie setup etc
what did he say about the "rock pose"?
Matons are so good. Aussie Aussie Aussie.
Toby Aarons Oi Oi Oi
Mr Charisma asking the questions. 🥱
Eva is awesome, I wish she'd stayed with The Mars Volta longer u.u
I mean if she wanted to she would of, those guys are tough on their band mates and Juan probably suited the band better
Love hearing about the "annoying factor", and that Les Paul's are "inconsistent". Bet Gibson will give this guy an endorsement!!
That's a lot of guitars to have on tour lol but hey I'd want the luxury of switching it up every night while on stage too.
I could do a better job interviewing Justin standing on my head. Especially a guitarist like Justin since he's a gizmo freak.
This dude is putting me to sleep.
That is a serious rig
seems like a good guy too :)
whats the meaning for eva tattoo on her right wrist??anybody knows it??i really wanna know what its all about....
is this guy play for the calling as lead guitsrist?
Man....when they get to the pedal boards etc....? Its hard enough just learning how to play guitar!
Meanwhile at a boozer in the South of England this guitarist makes one trip from the car and arrives at a pub gig with his boss Katana (disguised as a boutique amp with fender grill cloth and chrome corner pieces), GAFC EX footswitch and a double guitar backpack 😂
Wait, Eva is using same pick as I do? Ounces really cool.
gotta love how his rig takes up most of the time and the girls is like 5 minutes. His rig is insane though thats what i would want if i had money
' a pie- zo pickup' hah
Please Rig Rundown my guitar heroes.
Akira Takasaki, Johnny Marr, and Mick Mars
Maton are the best! Aussies represent!
And I was like yeah."
Must be nice😅
45-65-85-105 is standard.
40-60-80 100 is standard light gauge ;P

DukeStarbuckle Yeah Dizzy Gillespie and Willie Nelson are both posers. Nailed it.
Brianna S I AGREE...People are way to touchy on this subject...I always say "If you care what your guitars look like, hang it on a wall." Its a tool, a musical shovel so to speak...Who cares what it looks like? The answer: Other musicians.
C'mon guys... if it works and gets the job done, who cares? You like what you like. Scuff-Dings and all. 😊
I have lots of guitars, most are relic'd. I like the looks. I don't care what anyone else thinks. They are mine.
Id really love to see a Rig Rundown on 30 Seconds to Mars. But, Im not sure PG is reading these comments, so I'll leave a few crumbs around, to see if they pick up on it?!

Do a Rig Rundown for Synyster Gates & Zacky Vengeance of Avenged Sevenfold!
Thumbs up if you agree
do a green day rig rundown!
The swoooooorrrrd!
She looks like a character Kristen Wiig would play... Is that weird?
Eva is awesome! :)
You gotta ask yourself how much of that gear he actually owns as opposed to Pink's production company.
Eva Gardner?! Holy shit! She was in The Mars Volta back in the day! LMAO
8:30, Justin confesses "all his guitars sound the same".
Live Forever by Oasis in the background at 14:40 and then Alright by Supergrass 8-)
Wow, Jason thank you for making an ass of this guy.
"pretty sexy" "all that matters right?" "do all your guitars have the rubber bind for your rock pose?"
You're awesome.
killer
It always appears to me that no one in USA knows how to pronounce the word "Piezo"...
@@nathanlibertyreal Pee a zo, it's italian
@@nathanlibertyreal Always there to help 😅
Rock pose? Rubber? How about showing what he's talking about? Is there rubber on the back so it didn't slide?
Jason Shadrick always looks so non-plussed.
he's got an srv2000 awesome
"Watch me pull out another gorgeous Les Paul"
"I think this knob blends in this pickup". Really, how can you not know what the knobs on your guitar do?? I didn't see what was on the lower bout of the first LP, for his 'rock pose'. As usual 25min guitar and 5min bass but hey, it was nice to end with Eva's bit.
I'm not a fan of this interviewer. I just. God. Why is he so boring.
+Pat Howell He just has zero people skills. It's really odd to watch. But I totally agree about John. He's awesome. Love that guy.
Yeah, man, you're right about that. that's my impression on this guy, too...I don't know why Premier guitar even hired this guy..He doesn't even know how to smile and therefore he doesn't have that "friendly approach". Pat Howell yeah, John seems like a pretty cool guy. I like Chris Kies a lot, too
he's probably the worst one on here. no personality
the Interviewers dad must run premier guitar or some shit.
evas cool as can be. i wish were part was way longer.
I wonder if Eva knows that borracho is Spanish for drunk?
seeing all this stuff makes me think I could never be a pro...to be honest
GREAT FUCKING IDEA BRO!!
Does this guy really know his signal chain??
Gibson Les Paul's...OHHHH YAAAA
I also say phil x on the Bon jovi tour!
The main thing I got out of this video is "You know...."
Had to ask his name because pink wont allow him to speak or be seen
