This house is sitting there burning while the guys are just standing there and waiting to be told what to do. Why?? Put the water on the fire 🔥!!! How hard is that??
Well, they had the aerial spraying water from up above for quite awhile, and judging by the hoses that run all over the scene and disappear, they were using the hoses at other homes. I'm reading it was 3 apartment condos attached and all of the hoses had to be fed from a single water main. All the guys standing around are the backup to let others take breaks, do other work like cut vent holes in the roof, etc. The single water main coming into the neighborhood would be a major contributing factor to the lack of water on the fire, as well as splitting their available water over 3 active condos.

Fire fighting,, preferably in the volunteer world has really gone to the wayside for a couple of reasons. First we have turned into a working culture,,,work first a pleasure 2nd. Because of that, fireman are not getting training like they used. Companies nowadays wont even allow you to join. They dont want you at a fire when your supposed to be at work. And then the firefighting tactics changed with political correctness. When I was on a fire company in the 70,s there was no ABCD side. You arrived and chief told you what size hose to pull and make a inside attack fast. Fire training better improve.
After further review I find the only thing useful about this video is to show others what showing up and doing nothing looks like..oh yeah...the guys on Side C..the real heroes..lol

For all the couch critics who obviously have zero firefighting training, knowledge, skills and experience...what looks like an unorganised mass of fire fighters doing nothing that's no the case, each Station has a see specific task to do, at a specific time and place...they must wait until there told- - which to the uninitiated looks like we are just standing around no we are always looking & listening we are the eyes that the our brothers and sisters rely on when there busy...and in turn they do the same
It's too bad one of those tasks didn't include finding the burning material and putting what on it. If you know so much, where was your critique of their performance or do you need someone to tell you what happened here?
In the Uk, All firefighters are trained to fight fires and to call up re-enforcements and specialist if required.. Their first duty is to put out the fire as quickly as possible. Not stand around a wait for control to tell them what to do.
Omg, it's so hard for me to watch this video. I have never seen firefighters working like this, or not working. It's so much that could have been done to save alot of that structure. 😕
Not true. These condos have light weight truss construction, once the fire hit the common space roof, there was absolutely nothing that could have been done to save this condo. Oh by the way do you know how many firefighters have been injured and killed fighting fires in light weight construction over the last 20 years, about 250......yeah just ask Green Bay, WI what it's like to lose a firefighter to one of these fires....

Another example of USA departments not knowing what the priorities are. Find the fire and put water on it. Notice the front door open creating a wonderful flow path to feed the fire fresh air. Notice no water going through that gable end vent to fog the attic. All that water being applied, and the fire continues because nobody is looking for the burning material to get water on it. How much water does one spot need? All that manpower and finger pointing, and nobody knows what to do. Now hear this! That house could have been saved if they went inside WITH A HOSE INSTEAD OF EMPTY HANDED, found the burning material and put some water on it. If it is in the attic, you open a small hole, look around for the fire and put some water on it. If you can't see flames but you know it is up there, you fog the attic. That could all be done with the water you brought with you. People! Your heroes have no clue what this job is, let alone how to do it.
Go back to wearing your Eruo helmet and fighting fires from the outside. It’s a lot safer for you out there. Leave it to us Americans to go in and put the fire out

Its called Ventilation and it directs the fire, without breaking the windows the fire would continue to spread laterally across the roof void into the adjoining structure(s) this was a multi dwelling condo...by Ventilating it kept the fire in the original structure which was beyond saving, they did an excellent job

That was a nice Connecticutian house.
You have to wonder why the insurance industry isn't more involved with analysis of department effectiveness since they are the ones who ultimately pay the bills.
the insurance company will do EVERYTHING they can to NOT payout. Just watch.
Why are they venting the windows on an already well ventilated fire? Huh. Also - opening the garage doors instead of cutting them. Entrapment danger? Oy.
If you open garage doors, use a short pike pole to jam it open
Because they scene it once on TV and it looks cool..
opening them is fine if you have hose lines in place. I bend the track with a hand tool to keep the door open.
That could have been saved if you didn’t take your time at putting it out
Take their time putting it out? Let me ask you a question did you make it to the C side of the building? Maybe if you had been in the back of the structure you would have seen them fighting the fire in the back of the structure with 2 1/2’s and also interior attack.
@@kevinhazlett7303 Stop making excuses for this pathetic display of cowardice..if all the heroes were on side C..what prevented the Zeroes on Side A from doing anything...oh and stop with the lightweight construction BS..haven't heard of a FF LODD from falling drywall

What else are you going to build them out of Einstein??? Even if you used concrete, you still need wood for the floors, ceilings and roof. And what do you think the purpose of drywall is??? Hint, it's not just to hang pictures on...

@@kevinhazlett7303 oh I'm sure it was bravery at best..what prevented them from going to work on side A..What prevented them from opening up the roof ASAP ????
Fire fighting,, preferably in the volunteer world has really gone to the wayside for a couple of reasons. First we have turned into a working culture,,,work first a pleasure 2nd. Because of that, fireman are not getting training like they used. Companies nowadays wont even allow you to join. They dont want you at a fire when your supposed to be at work. And then the firefighting tactics changed with political correctness. When I was on a fire company in the 70,s there was no ABCD side. You arrived and chief told you what size hose to pull and make a inside attack fast. Fire training better improve.
It’s a test. How many chiefs. How many Indians How many rappers.
glad i don't live in that town
I was there
Probably lightning
After further review I find the only thing useful about this video is to show others what showing up and doing nothing looks like..oh yeah...the guys on Side C..the real heroes..lol
terrible job fire em all
That house is very odd designed. And where are the Home owners, There's ta car in the garage, either the Firemen need to get this fire out or get that car out of the garage ! If that car explodes there's going to an inferno. Where the hell are the homeowners ??
Even if the homeowners were there they still wouldn’t have move them to many hose line laying around and cars can drive over the hose line or the LDH but they most definitely do need to get this fire out it’s crawling across the attic
Cars don’t explode only on CHIPS.

Light duty construction at it's finest.
That's right, build all the houses together. If one caught fire, they all do. Good planning!
No interior attack....not a Rembrandt!!!
Does your Barcalounger have lights and sirens?
Hey dingle berry, they did start an interior attack but had to back out when the fire got into the common space roof. Oh and you must not know about these condos and there light weight truss construction and how many firefighters these thing have killed. So have a seat in your fire buff chair and stop talking about things you don't know what you are talking about.
@@kevinhazlett7303 obviously these mysterious heroes on Side C weren't putting much fire out
😭😭😭.....y'all need better help then that
For all the couch critics who obviously have zero firefighting training, knowledge, skills and experience...what looks like an unorganised mass of fire fighters doing nothing that's no the case, each Station has a see specific task to do, at a specific time and place...they must wait until there told- - which to the uninitiated looks like we are just standing around no we are always looking & listening we are the eyes that the our brothers and sisters rely on when there busy...and in turn they do the same
It's too bad one of those tasks didn't include finding the burning material and putting what on it.
Lets see how many guys we can fit in the garage. lol
They actually were working on the C side of the building with 2 1/2’s and interior crews! Video does not show any thing from C side!
Absolutely pathetic..nothing but a bunch of yard stompers with hooks and bottles on doing the samething as the few bystanders lurking..NOTHING
Yes but, they bare firefighters so that makes them Heroes Just for joining up, dressing up and showing up. Performance means nothing.
Most important things is to cut as many holes as possible into the roof.
Foundation savers.
Pretty bad showing
Saved the foundation
Geez.........this is awful.
Shelton, someone buy them a second hose
Your idea. You do it Mr. Smartass.
It’s like the firefighter version of dumb and dumber…. Boy these SCBA things sure look cool. Let’s wear them while we watch the house burn down because we have no damn clue as to what we are doing.
Exactly, crews should of made a hard push into a structure with roof collapse and holes in the floor on the C side while master stream are operating. UA-cam IC is definitely the job for you. Please dont ever pick up a mic.
Be the best douchebag you can be. So far so good.
@@RLTtizME sorry if the truth hurts. If you don’t want your stuff critiqued don’t put it out there in a public forum. And if you think this department did a good job with this fire you probably shouldn’t be a firefighter.
@@ronbradley5631 I knew you would be immediately triggered. We are simply not interested in your rude, snarky second-guessing bilge. I doubt at this point anyone could or even would work with you. Keep that in mind.....and move on.
@@RLTtizME lol. Talk about triggered. I’ve only said what any qualified firefighter is thinking. If you think this was a well managed scene then you should probably replace your fire hoses with hotdogs so you can at least eat while you watch everything burn to the ground.
Leave it to us Americans to go in and put the fire out
The firefighters could have stopped at Walmart to get more firehose
😂
In New Zealand, 3 or 4 appliances would attend a fire or this size. That's 16 men, and 2 x 45mm lines, and maybe a HPD. Ladder trucks not required. The amount of men standing around outside doing nothing is unbelievable.
New Zealand sucks. How do you even have internet to watch this awesome video and make a comment? Ladder trucks always required but everyone in New Zealand is scared of heights. Men outside rotate and rehab and are RIT. Whatchu know bout RIT in new zeal dood? Also I bet NZFD wears those ugly space helmets. Good day mate

I read a lot of the comments here as I have at all these videos over the past 15 years, on a daily basis. This performance is not the exception. This is the Norm throughout the USA. "It's high school graduation. Look around you. Who are going to become firefighters and who are going to go out there and create something?" Glad you come from a land of pure perfection.... Smgdh... 🙄
Trench cut early on a common roof, on a job that out of control.
Pathetic fire fighting and firemen. Why would you be breaking windows? Giving more oxygen to the fire? Whether these firemen are paid or volunteers they need basic fire fighting training other than standing around in a group watching.
Its called Ventilation and it directs the fire, without breaking the windows the fire would continue to spread laterally across the roof void into the adjoining structure(s) this was a multi dwelling condo...by Ventilating it kept the fire in the original structure which was beyond saving, they did an excellent job
They and all USA fireplayers need basic common sense and logic, training.
