Reading a book about How to build a Cyclecar is one, but actual building one is quite a more challenging task. But Tim Gunn was able to do it. And why not, those who know Tim or watch the television show ‘The repair shop’ knows what he is capable of.
Recently, Robert from Gasolini recently visited Tim’s workshop to talk about his 1919 Grafton Cyclecar. - Авто та транспорт
I don’t know which is more interesting, the car or the fact that you can legally drive it on public roads. Great work!
You made my day : )
Well, can you drive it legally on public roads?
@@Scodiddly looks like he just did.
@@Scodiddlyhello? Hastings insurance.... There follows an interesting conversation 😂
I always think its only illegal if you get caught..you did not break a law yet unless the law sees it?
That is the best example of a cycle car I have ever seen. It is very fast for such a small motor.
This the nicest machine I've seen and the most inspirational because everyone here with a garden shed and grandads old foldy outy toolbox he made as an apprentice thinks they can build something like it and they could. It's awesome. Its pretty and petite and sounds gorgeous and it ticks all the boxes.
'Grandads old, foldy outy tool box he made as an apprentice.'... made me smile..,.
i wanna make one myself
Back in 1974 my dad built for me his interpretation of a cycle car using a Briggs and Stratton 5hp engine. What you have here reminds me of that. The steering was the same and at speeds over 5MPH it was not, shall we say, responsive? It was scary as hell for an 11 year old to drive. The chain drive fell off under load a couple of times. Fortunately it was not exposed so no one was injured, just really frustrated.
A great memory. Thank you!
It's called a go-cart!
Thanks for sharing you story :)
Damn I wish someone wouldve built something like this for me, or even just mentored me through the process. Love my Dad but he is mechanically r3tarded lol ...And my Grandfather was a 'car guy' but never much interested in helping us grandkids with projects of our own. He tried to teach me how to drive a manual when I was a teen and gave up after 2 trys.
I'm thinking of building one with a 4hp engine, how fast did your dad's go?
Must be an adventurous ride. Love it.
This is one the most beautiful vehicle I have ever seen. The beaty of the simplicity.
Wahnsinn, das ist ja unglaublich! So ein feines Autochen! Prima Konstruktion.
Braucht sicher weniger als 3l, denk´ ich mal.
I think its a great little car you sir have built a piece of history. Well done 👍👍
Lovely. Truly beautiful.
100 years later, Morgan is still selling stuff like this.
Better brakes, a bit faster.
But THIS car is the Real Deal.
Anybody can buy anything. Big deal.
Cute little death trap! I like the way the chain cuts thru the floor board. Boy do I want one!
Beautiful and scary. That steering bobbin doesn’t look like it could clear a dead cat in the road.
A very interesting piece of kit. I always love finding the odd bits and bob's on UA-cam time to time. I can see these making a comeback sometime.
Wonderful and amazing. Thank you for sharing this.
Thank You sir for the historic educational video. Great looking ( and working ) vehicle. My son and I have an appreciation for all things automotive. I make sure he sees your video so he can carry this information on to the next generation. We do not want history to be lost. Again, Thank You sir and Have A Wonderful Day! 🛻🚚🚛
Fantastic CycleCar build.
That is a pretty cool cycle car. Great Job!
I like it. As both a car and a bicycle enthusiast i love the concept!
Amazing work! It would be a dream to drive!
Every once in awhile, I come back to this video. A moment of automotive zen!
Any real man would want a car like this.
A joy for the ears and the eyes.
Wow! That is a beautiful car. Well done. Look at that thing go!
A thing of absolute beauty 😍 well done Sir 👍
great rewiew, great job. thanks
Looks wonderful!
This is so briljant!
Love the chain coming through the cab floor. You wouldn't want to try and retrieve your dropped phone!
Simply Simple Great Job !
TY so very much , i was thinking about this, I have all this stuff.bikes mowers, welder, mill, all that , game on!
I,m perusing (rewinding) this hard right now, again thanks!
Hermosa pieza de ingenio, hermoso vehículo, felicitaciones!!❤
How simple yet so amazing n practical at that time
Brilliant!
Fabulous, I love it ! 👏
Great information. I've been wanting to build something like this for a long time now. Maybe it will happen after all. Thank you.
Same here, making plans, but still other projects coming along
Groovy ride man..
I built a version of this as an 11 year old (with my tool and diemaker fathers help)
Mine was a 1980s version, although the engine/clutch was from a 1973 Polaris Colt 175cc snowmobile mated to a 3 speed with reverse transmission from a 1970s riding lawnmower.
That's absolutely fantastic 👍😊 looks great fun too. How on earth you can register such a vehicle with today's safety regs god only knows but you have and its wonderful. I take my hat off to you sir 👏👏
Great job, very authentic feel to the machine; good thing you have a lot of tiny back roads to ride it in UK. Not the case on this side of the pond though. Cheers!
There is if you live in bumphucked nowhere.
@@BI-11y_TheStormTrooper You'd get flattened by a Dually here in Florida, but golf carts and side-by-sides are OK.
Maravilloso! Saludos desde Argentina
Fantastic! I want one.
Great video.
That was so good i watched it twice , i may have to raid my sheds tomorrow to see what i can make . That was inspiring with great camera work too , what a beautiful machine ! New sub thumbs up .
Shedraider..... It sounds good.
SWEET ................ GOOD HIGHCSHOOL SHOP PROJECT THANK YOU.
Very very good Mr Toad
I saw this at goodwood! My favorite part was the string type steering and the gorgeous fenders!
Да, да! Точно!
Really incredible build!! I will be starting a UA-cam channel when it gets a bit warmer out here in the States called tentatively machines and motors. I will be building a 1928 Morgan to start with. Thank you for sharing!!
Extraordinary! ❤
So cool!
Wonderful.
Very cool indeed!
So Cool!
What an outstanding build you did there. Couple of things that kinda scared me: the chain running along the floorboards by your feet and legs and the spool and wire steering BUT I figure it was the way it was done "back in the day"
The chain will simply drop to the ground, if it breaks. But that steering system... well, I've never seen _that_ before. It obviously works, though.

Really, that's your reaction -- medical expenses and legalities? How did this video make it into your well-regulated safety bubble, in the first place?
If your steering breaks halfway to town you can just fix it with a bit of rope maybe not the chain though
A long time ago, it was a prank to reverse the loop of the wires while the owner was in the pub.
Is it dangerous enough though?
I _love_ this thing...
Oh great, another project added to my list!
This.... Is a beautiful thing.
Great video!
Brilliant
So cool.
Definitely got the engine right 👍 thing will probably run forever ❤
It’s going at a great speed. 👍👍👍
wonderful , thank you Sir :)
Love it .
❤🎉 allsome work sounds and looks amazing very cool from cruzermans inventions 😁👍🎉🌟🦇
I love the car but I also love the Tractor in your shed.I'm 55 I plowed my 1st small Feild with one like it at 12 years old. Your place looks like a bit of Heavan to me.
So cool
That thing flies!
Scary fast!
Awesome! 😁👍😁
THAT is amazing
very cool
I'd be looking for a set of 1930's 28" x 2" balloon rims and tires for the cycle car. .In the 60's I was messing with bikes and those things were still about. The ride was brilliant.
Beautyful
Sweet machine
that is a great job
amazing vehicle
My kind of transport,, love it
This thing is cool👍👍👍
Way cool!
A guy in California built a four seat four wheel little car out of bicycle frames and parts. Added a steering wheel and it was pedal powered. The two in the front pedaled it
That's wild!
I expected it to be slow, with only a 350cc single cylinder but it gets along quite well; power to weight, its weight would be very little.
Nice, very nice
Забавная колесница. :-) Успехов!
Cool 😃
j'adore 👍
So fast and cool
body suit cliff jumping is way safer. good show i love these fine machines.
she seems to clip along pretty nicely, good job mate! fun!
fasinating!
That ride was scarry and exciting at the same time. 😱
Thanks. I just ordered the book from the UK to the states. Looking forward to getting this.
Nice job on your car. What type of clutch are you using?
Mad lad
Nádherný stroj 👌👌👏
Гарна таратайка!)
Your left-side chain needs tensioning. If you don't attend to it soon, you'll throw that chain and funny things may happen.
way cool
It's fantastic! How does the clutch work?
my 'hobby' is restoring vintage Triumph BSA Norton and want to try something new...i think i have found what it is....PS i have a 1949 Lil Grey Fergie too...this is a great film!!!
Wicker seat!!
Amazing. Pure fun.
Question: Is there a differential in that gearbox so it doesn't have a rear live axle?
EDIT: only one chain to the axle that I saw , to answer my own first question... no. But... Is it live or just one driven wheel
手作り感!万歳🙌!
I'd love to build one, using a Henderson 4!
