Same. Brings me tears when I hear this & I just wish so much that we could bring her back!!! I miss her as if I personally knew her, like family! This is such a powerful song. It captures so many feelings, from hope to sorrow, from loneliness to freedom. I love how Dolores sings about a person who's been through a lot and has decided to live in peace with themselves, but never forgetting the past.

By far one of the best bands of the 90s and still is one of my favorites today! Why can’t music today be more like this!?
The best band IMO.
Actually, there is music like this today - kinda evolved ;) But it's mainly in the realm of metal (atmospheric gothic/doom, to be more precise).
I strongly recommend TREES OF ETERNITY and ALEAH STANBRIDGE albums (even her demo while briefly in a project named THAT WHICH REMAINS, only available here on UA-cam). I dare to name THE GATHERING during the ANNEKE VAN GIERSBERGEN era as their singer ('Mandylion' and 'Nighttime Birds' are strikingly in the same vein of this very song), and even early LACUNA COIL with 'Unleashed Memories' as a prime example (even up to 'Comalies' there are some similarities, guitar-wise). Another one is ANATHEMA, from 'Alternative 4' onwards ('Fragile Dreams', 'Are You There?').
Finally, if more heavy sounds (and some guttural vocals, a.k.a. 'growls') don't refrain you, I would entirely suggest DRACONIAN, SWALLOW THE SUN... even SATURNUS.

I know tis song since my childoo in mid 90s but this song helped me through the divorce from my psychologically abusive ex wife almost 7 years ago.
The most chilling part which speaks to my soul is when the tone shifts and she sings "I have decided to leave you forever"
This is how i felt when i finally made the descission. The silence before that is like the hard time before making that descision.
This is easily my favorite Cranberries song.

the ending of this song is chilling as hell, and the video with the old 90s television playing old videos with the cranberries poster on the wall shows this all now belongs in the past and there is no more future.

Such a beautiful song. I remember when I first introduced her music to my first unborn daughter, and after she was born, I would play The Cranberries and sing along to my precious one. I even had a crib tape player and turned it on for both of my daughters to help calm and sleep. RIP Dolores as your voice still lives on.

Thanks to you for introducing your kids to the Cranberries, and thanks to mine for introducing them to me. I hope I can only do the same for my children so that they'll always know their grandmother, even if they never meet her.
I did the same with my daughter, and at this moment I am laying with my granddaughters listening to this entire album, as we do every night they stay with me. This, however, is my favorite song.

In 1994 when i heard this i was a 10 year old boy. I was horribly beaten and Dolores amazing voice was a beacon for me in the dark. This song was so full of power and strength. Music saved me. It still does. 26 years later heading into 2021 and still feeling the strength in her voice, even though she is gone.

I remember listening to this in high school for the first time back in 2008-9 after I tried to propose to someone I knew for a long time and she coldly turned me down! ...Years later, I discovered THIS track...my first, " love of my life " experience...this song was there when it ended...and boy did it SPEAK to the times!🙌🏾...smh, bittersweet yet triumphantly..as I struggled to put myself, and the situation into perspective...to heal. It's like she could vocally express the most " in between", obscure emotions...we go through. Music is SUCH a gift. When it's pure...from the higher self.

A wonderful song and an ode to anyone who has been in and escaped an abusive relationship. The dark notes of the opening couple of minutes versus the uplifting change of note when she sings "I have decided to leave you forever". The noticing of daffodils where the person may not have previously done because of the darkness that was surrounding them, and also the daffodils themselves represent the start of spring, fresh starts, new life. Lyrical genius. Beautiful.
I would always listen to the Cranberries at maximum volume driving on the freeway or to the east cost people the highway they call it when no one is around and driving at high speed it would be an awesome drive 🙂

Dolores is gone, and everybody feels terrible. But the way I look at it, John Lennon died at 41 and everybody still remember the Beatles. The Cranberries stood out on their own, I believe that with the Cranberries still holding the record of hitting the 5 million mark in their debut album, faster then any band or musician in 27 years and counting, or selling 40 million records in 6 albums, the Cranberries, and Dolores in particular will never be forgotten.
