LinkedIn recommended to me a payed guide into Test Automation. I checked the free bits and pieces to see what it's about. After 10 minutes they just threw at me 20 different terminologies, names of types, methods, divisions but said nothing about what it actually is and why. Completely backwards and discouraging. This free 15 minute video is so much more valuable and doesn't waste my time.
I wish I had found your videos 3 years ago! Brother you have no idea how easy you've made it for me to FINALLY UNDERSTAND AUTOMATION TESTING !!!! I wasted $4000 on a bootcamp that taught me nothing but gave a fake resume with fake experiences . THANK YOU SOO MUCH AND PLEASE KEEP TEACHING LIKE THIS .. i WILL SHARE YOUR LESSONS WITH EVERYONE I KNOW WHO NEEDS IT.
3 years later but i must say this is one of the best videos i have ever seen. Period. Good information, good narration and excelent use of graphic and visual elements to complement the information. It really helped me a lot. New subscriber here.
I just graduated and landed my first job as a software test engineer! I have to admit I didn't know anything about automated testing, but this video is makes it easier to understand what I'm getting into!
Great video, thank you! Finding a good video on this topic was harder than I thought it would be, so your video saved me! Edit: the automated testing mini-project didn't work for me since I wasn't able to make it press enter even after attempting to debug it. But nevertheless, the point gets conveyed, so it's good.
Thanks for breaking it down in an easy and light to digest. I'm quite nervous when my boss asked me today if I can replace our automation QA since he's going to resign, and my last experience with automation tools was few years ago. This video helped relieve my anxiety 😁
It is the first time I deal with "automated tests". That was exactly what I needed! Thank you for the video. Wondering how recording tests will work with protected content websites, but I can test it myself :)
Unfortunately Selenium doesn't capture when I press Enter. I tried to get around this by just clicking the Search button but then it gets stuck because it cant immediately find the next element I click on (your youtube channel). It looked so simple yet I've somehow failed at the first hurdle! 😭
Just beginning to learn about automation testing and found this video and the visuals very helpful! But I'm wanting to ensure I understand... What was your example test at the end of the video actually testing? That the Google search results were bringing you to the right place? Or that the auto-generated test in Selenium was returning the expected result (as in, bringing you to the Testopic UA-cam page)? If the latter, since the test was auto-generated, how would it *not* return the expected result?
In this case, think of Google as the software you are testing. In this example, he wants to make sure the Google search function works. Additionally, he wants to make sure that the results of the search are correct and that the first link brings you to the correct page. A few examples of issues would be, 1. The first search result is broken, so the link brings you to a 404 page. That is an issue with the Google search result and can be noted and the developer can fix it. 2. If there was a problem with the test steps within the testing tool (i.e. selenium), a couple of things could happen. If it doesn't successfully run through all of the steps you will get an error. I think it could also get "stuck" on a step though I'm not sure how common that is. If it's an error, it will tell you at which step it failed at and you can see if you did something incorrectly and fix it and rerun the tests. An example would be let's say he has a typo in the URL. If it doesn't correctly go to the Google homepage, the rest of the steps will fail because it won't be able to find the search bar to search. Hopefully that makes sense.
In my case following your example, the final test, "assert title" always runs before the page has rendered. If I tell it to play to that point and stop and then unpause the test it works. Is there something wrong with my configuration which causes the last step to execute before the page renders? This happens even on the slowest execution speed.
Hello Sir. Have you encountered any use case where AI ( e.g. genetic algorithm) was used in the testing case by testing engineers ? I'm looking in how to use genetic algorithm to provide a larger exploratory scenario during testing.
Hey George! Only through the use of AI-enabled automation tools. Nowadays, most test automation tools are aiming to be a part of the AI movement (e.g. applitools, TestCraft, functionize). But, for the time being, most of the AI-enabled functionality I've seen in such tools is around self-healing tests. So if the test can't find an element on a page because it has been changed, the tool attempts to map the old element to its changed version. A good tool will avoid false positives by notifying the Test Automation Engineer that the test was self-healed and allowing him to review the change. I wish you good luck with your idea! I think it has lots of potential.

This video should have 1 million views, it has more use than two QA books that I've read...
I’m a visual learner and this is so valuable for my learning style. Pictures and stories make information more tangible for me.
Thank you so much.

Your video delivery is great. Simple animation but beautifully placing them in the video is an art you've done well.

This video was GENIUS!!! So insightful and really helpful in getting a deeper understanding of automation testing
Thanks a lot for giving such quality knowledge for free on youtube. You made my day. Thanks
Great primer on automated testing! Very helpful for the novice looking a conceptual understanding. Bravo!
Great explination for someone who isn't a test automation expert. Thanks!
This was such a fantastic explanation and demo!!!! Thank you!!!
I am going to use you as a professional reference as well as a training coach on my résumé for this experience. Thank you so much!😅

How to automate the fact that we want to know if for exemple we have get the good list of products after a click in a category for exemple ?

Why test automation worth to use when testing in multiple browsers?
Good job.bro 👍!!!!
