Do you think there’s still trout in Seneca around this time of year? I heard they are a sensitive fish that don’t survive easily and felt maybe they would only be available when they stock them in spring
it is true that trout don’t do well with the heat and some die; however, some do survive with enough food available, and deep oxygenated water. Otherwise we wouldn’t have wild trout. It will definitely be slower around this time if year, but it doesn’t mean they’re impossible to catch in summer. During the spring stock is the best time to fish for them for sure!
Sadderdaze after driving past the volley ball field going towards the disc golf course, there is a parking lot on the left side that’s usually empty. Park there and then walk. You’re gonna have to use google maps as there is no trail
@@Jonalexxx any advice for fishing spinners in the creeks? I usually use them in ponds and lakes and try to fish them slow and close to the bottom but that method usually gets me snagged in creeks
@@omark7145 yeah creeks are usually shallower so look for slack water next to current or any deeper pools you can find. Have both gold and silver blade spinners, but for creeks I’d say the most important thing is light line. I wouldn’t go any higher than 6lbs test. I prefer using smaller rods for creeks because casting distance isn’t a necessity and a short rod helps casting when there are a lot of trees and foliage around. Good luck!
This was in a section in Gaithersburg, I don’t fish much in Poolesville, but fish go up and down the creek all the time. It should be very similar throughout. Just give it a shoot in your area. Good luck!
@@JonalexxxWas this inside the state park then? I just went there today no one was having luck 😢 I just want to catch my first trout. Definitely didnt see a spot that was in this video but it looks super familiar. Any chance you can share an estimation of these locations? I know it’d be impossible to know exact
@maritzsa it’s not inside the park. Hard to say exactly, but you’ll probably have more luck checking the stocking schedule dnr.maryland.gov/fisheries/pages/trout/stocking.aspx They have a stocking location map and everything. It says Seneca creek got stocked with 2000 trout on March 30th at Black Rock Mill, but by now the fish probably already moved up and down the creek. You could go check there, or check what water near you will be stocked later in the year, and hit it on the day. If you are trying to eat them power bait or nightcrawlers work well. If you’re trying to catch and release spinners work for that.
I couldn’t really tell you how to get there., there isn’t a path to this spot. You have to go through some thick stuff to get to it. I could probably show you when they stock it again just dm me on Instagram @jonalexxx
Awesome man! Just fished there yesterday and caught my first trout ever its a great stream to fish at! U got a channel of my own if you wanna check it out! Just subbed to you! #100!
Sorry to hear that… If you are talking about the lake; I should let you that the lake is very pressured and fish have seen just about everything. Finesse tactics and a lot of patience for the state park lake seem to work the best. And as far as the creek goes light line such as 4-6lbs test and small lures will get you through the fall season. Good luck! Go catch giants!
Had an awesome time catching some trout at the creek! Stay tuned for more videos coming soon!

Is this great seneca creek southwest of clopper lake? Where did you park?

You think there are any still in there now?
It’s hard to say. It was stocked a while ago, but when I caught those it was the middle of summer so it’s possible there are still some around.
