I find your videos extremely fascinating. Your personal library looks awesome! And your enthusiasm for trying all the different types of needlework is contagious!!
I love your little gold work piece, and the needle painting is lovely as well. I wish I had the patience to give it a try. I wasn't much good with surface embroidery, which is why I think i like cross stitch so much with its predetermined holes 😊
Hi Arlene - I discovered your channel after watching your interview with Becca. Your flosstube fascinates me. Many years ago, in the 1970s, I was a Home Economics major. I studied at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo in CA. I specialized in what is called the fiber arts today. One of my favorite classes was Creative Stitchery. Loved that class and still have my box of samples after all these years. I am an avid cross stitcher now. But I also sew clothing. At my university, we had to do a senior project (not a requirement at all colleges in those days). I wanted to do my senior project on Blackwork. Unfortunately, I could not get the advisor to do this so I had to do something else. My advisor's specialty was consumer affairs. So I did a renter's handbook. A far cry from Blackwork. But it has always held a fascination for me. I have yet to do a Blackwork project, but it is on my to do list. I love seeing all the different things your are trying out. Keep it up. Take Care.
Thanks so much for watching - I'm so glad you found me! So interesting to hear about your college experiences. A senior project on Blackwork would have been amazing! I don't know if you've taken a look at my other videos, but as a part of this Needlework Loves series, I did a video on Blackwork a few months back. Take care! 🙂
There are many things you will learn as you finish the rose. So what that you are not satisfied with how the stitches look. Move on to the stem and then attaching the petals. You might not like how it all turns out, you can just throw it away, like you said. But you will have learned something for the next time.

I agree that there is often much comfort with the predetermined holes 🙂
I love how I see and learn of something new each time I watch your videos. You MUST finish the rose. I'm very excited to see it finished!
Thanks so much! And, yes, must finish the rose!
Yes, finish the Rose. You can do it and I would love to see it! Cheers.

Great video. Inspired me to pull out projects that I have stashed away for too many years.
Yes, do that! If you are still in love with them, keep them out somewhere so that you see and can pick it up again 🙂
I look forward to seeing your rose when it is finished.
Yes, you bet I'll be sharing it!
Arlene, finish the rose! If nothing else, you’ll learn something about attaching the petals that may be helpful for future projects.
Yes, must finish that rose! 🙂
Arlene, finish the rose! It will turn out beautiful!
Yes, must do this!
