Just as a rule of thumb, about 300 lbs will be the upper limit for most roller coasters; lower if they likewise have lower height requirements. I know it sucks for bigger people, but with more intense rides, restraint systems must be designed so that even a completely limp or unconscious person cannot fall out, regardless of forces. This tends to put an upper constraint on the design.

Just a heads up. The test seats for rip ride rockit are bigger than the actual seats. I get green light on both test seats but the actual seats I don't fit in when I get on. 🤷♂️
A bit late to the party but I wanted to share my experience on Rip Ride Rock-It: I'm roughly 315lbs 6' 2", and a lot of my weight is in my thighs which makes things interesting for some rides. Rides like Forbidden Journey and VelociCoaster, where the restraints come against your gut, I have no major issues on. However, rides where the restraint goes on my lap or somehow hits my thighs is where I struggle. As of now, I cannot ride Hagrids and Rip Ride Rock-It is... interesting. For Rip Ride Rock-It, I used the test seats and I got a green light on the row 3 seats (the one with the red bar and more belly room), and did not get a green light on the row 4 seats. So I went to ride, asked for row 3, and when I pulled it down it was very obvious that I would not fit (the restraint hit the middle of my left thigh as it came down, not even close). They had me wait for another train where I was placed in row 4, and I was somehow able to fit (albeit very very tight with a lot of help from the crew). I went back a few days later, asked for row 4, but this time they couldn't get it closed, and asked me to leave. So really for Rip Ride Rock-It, the test seats just can't be trusted I guess. If I get a green light and don't fit, while also getting a red light when I can fit, that just shows the test seats are not accurate.
My poor uncle when riding escape from gringotts couldn’t get the safety lock on the back of the seat to pop up because of his stomach. They said it was due to seat restraints not being down enough but they swore it was still okay for him to ride but it terrified us to no end
Went to Universal yesterday and tested out the Rip Ride Rockit tester seat and got the green light for Row 3. Waited an hour and when I got on the actual attraction, I was unable to ride. 😭 kind of frustrating 😓 Love your videos! Thank you for making this video!
Thanks for the videos. I just got back from Orlando. For the first time, I was able to ride Escape from Gringotts, HP and the Forbidden Journey as well as Hulk. I am so freaking happy of my NSV. Rip Ride Rockit is my goal for next year.
I’m so glad I watched this. I didn’t get a chance to ride the mummy, but I may wait until my next visit. I went in 2019 and it was my first time standing in line for the Harry Potter ride and got allllll the way to the top of the line and the chest bar would not fit. I felt so stupid and Hagrid definitely was a fail😂😂. it just made me want to drop the weight even more. Thanks for the video!
Rip Ride Rockit is a VERY uncomfortable ride even when I did (barely) get the green light. My husband only rode it once and said it was a kick in the nuts. For the Mummy and Gringotts, I try to get last row, but I have to push myself up and force it down, and it is uncomfortable, especially Gringotts.
In case this can help someone here is my experience. I am 5’10” and carry most of my weight in my legs, hips, stomach. I visited universal at both 250lbs and 300lbs. Rip Ride Rocket 250lbs: No issues on either seat. 300lbs: Green light on one of the seats. The Mummy: No issues. Ask for row 4 if you want more space. Gringotts: same as the mummy. No issues. Ask for the back row for more space. The Hulk 250lbs: no issues 300lbs: more comfortable in the modified seats. The sides of the seats can squeeze into your hips and be uncomfortable, but it’s a short ride. Rip Saw Falls 250lbs: I was able to fit, but I was incredibly uncomfortable with the seating arrangement. 300lbs: N/A Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey 250lbs: no issues 300lbs: sit on the edge, not the middle. I had a friend help push the restraint down an extra click or two. Hagrid’s Motorbike 250lbs: N/A 300lbs: This is a tight fit, but the ride is definitely worth it. I could not fit in the sidecar seat. I was only able to ride the motorbike. I was right on the edge of being able to ride, as I had to really push the lapbar down. Out of the 8 times I rode this, one ride attendant was very rude to me and did force me to get off, but I was able to try again immediately and was able to ride. It seems that some of the seats are tighter than others. To get the bar where it needs to be, sit up straight in the seat with your butt pushed back as far as possible, pull the lapbar down. To get the lapbar down more, with your palms facing up, grab the handlebars and using that leverage, push the lapbar down using your elbows. The majority of the employees are nice about it, so don’t be afraid to try out the ride. Occasionally you will get a rude employee. Or sometimes they will ask you before you get on the ride “have you been on this before?” Which is code for “you look like you are on the heavy side, maybe you should try the test.” But, if you are planning a trip and you are worried about the ride seats, don’t worry too much. There are still rides at Universal that anyone can ride. And you can still have fun even if you can’t fit on some of them.
Tabitha, thanks so much for taking time to give extra info. Super helpful!! Hagrids is SO fun!! Gotta admit I'm a little jealous, 8 times!! We were amazed that we were able to go twice😁
I was really impressed with the park attendants we had at gringotts and forbidden journey. They were so kind about helping me find a better fitting seat @ 280lbs. I hope everyone else has that experience.
I am 270 and going in about two months. Hoping to loose a bit of weight hopefully I can fit! I carry a lot of weight in my chest and less in my stomach area (but still pretty chubby) or legs
@@lisaking4548 I don't know if that is better or not☹ at least you have more time, but also it doesn't help the anxiety. Either way, I am still sending positivity and good vibes your way!!❤❤
I'm going to the parks in October and I've been watching your videos constantly to make sure I can go on these rides by the time of my trip. Thank you for all you do!
Just wanted to say that I feel for you and thank you for showing this. Five years ago I went on a family vacation to IOA and Universal. Held up the Harry Potter ride because I couldn’t fit in the seat. I had ridden it just two years earlier with no issue. My kids felt sorry for me and the issue came up again at Six Flags is CA a few years later. Riding coasters with my kids was one of the greatest joys for me. I am 300 now and looking to lose 50-75 so I can ride coasters again. Although, I’ve never had any issues with any Disney attraction. And yes, strangers that ride in my row on Jurassic Park freak the hell out when the lap bar stops.
I hope that they group similar-sized folks in the same row so that EVERYONE is safe. My daughter has been one of those people that has "freaked the hell out" on the Jurassic Park ride because of the bar issue.
Very informative. Thank you so much looking out for us on the heavy side. I love Universal but haven't been able to enjoy some of their latest rides. Disney does a much better job on making sure their attactions are more "big boy" friendly. Keep up the great work.
Wishing you the best with your weight loss journey. You can do it, I just got done watching your video from two weeks ago which kicked off your journey. Just a quick recommendation; you can bring some protein bars into the parks to help curb your appetite.
I'm 5'5'' 291, down from 318 3months ago.. Was able to fit the Mummy ride but on the last row. Was able to get on Flight of Hippogriff, which I just made it. Not able to do Forbidden Journey yet. I know with thicker thighs my hips push me up, sitting down I'm taller than my husband who is 5'10''.
Thank you for doing this type of video. It was this kind of video that led me to you about a year ago. Being a larger woman, I tried the test seat on Gringott’s and almost didn’t fit the first time. But I shifted around in the seat and tried again, which gave me the green light. I was afraid I wouldn’t fit, but the leg restraints were the worst part for me. Unfortunately, I didn’t get to ride too many other attractions there on my trip, due to the long lines.
This video series is amazing!!! Last time I went to Universal (2 years ago) I just barely made it into the seat for gringotts (thank you to the only nice employees at universal we encountered that day)... and then when I went to Six flags Great adventure in NJ.. I wish I had a tool like this because that seat for Nitro was TERRIBLE.... I still don't think I cleared it but the ride worker told me it was too late to get off and that was terifying.
They should never give an excuse, that it's too late, that's endangering guests and at the very least scaring them during the ride unnecessarily, I'm glad you're okay though, and glad you had a good experience in universal 🙏🏻💞♥️
I have compassion for everyone. Having said that though, my daughter and I went to Universal in May and will be returning again soon for HHN. My daughter is petite and on a few rides, was kind of worried that the bar would not keep her in the ride because some folks sitting in the same row were all overweight, causing the bar to not come down as far as needed for her, because of the difference in size. That is a concern.
We were very disappointed when we had a hard time fitting many of the rides. I'm not overweight, I'm just very tall, so we have issues with the size of the ride seats.
When I was 380 I fit on the mummy but didn’t fit on the test seat and I’m surpised since this and gringots have the same Ride seat I couldn’t fit on gringots
Another great video! I'm 5'-5", 195 with a 38" waist. I can fit in all attractions, but it's very tight in Rip Ride Rocket. I did not feel comfortable in row 3, and felt improperly restrained. Gringott's was difficult on my legs. If you suffer from leg cramps, do not ride Gringott's or The Mummy. Your legs are restrained.
Thank you so much for sharing! I have been following you and you have inspired me to start my own weight loss journey I am calling it do it for hagrid!!! Hope I am able to get at my goal next year.
With gringots I went on it tonight I’m 6 1 at 341 and I fit the test seat wasn’t a no go but row 3 and 6 have more leg room and best way to fit is before I sit down pull it to ur waist and bring it down as ur sitting down I was an inch from not fitting on but gladly did
Im a thin person but im also 4’10 and im honestly scared to ride any coaster but i love coasters its literally just my fear of heights messing me up i mean i dont think i fit in the seats and im only 100 pounds any advice?
I will tell you this that Dudleys will be the last ride ill ever do. The logs were very uncomfortable with the bar right up your sternum. Its even worse getting bumped. Splash Mountain i can do.
damn im 6' 1 305 lbs , going to Universal for the first time... ima go HAM at the gym to try to fit on escape from Gringots.. i have till september 14th...... do u have any problems fitting at WDW ?
So I went to Universal almost a month ago and the only ride I couldn't fit was Hagrids motorbike. I weigh 305 and I am 6ft. Its weird considering that the hardest ones to fit into I didn't have a huge problem.🤷♂️
Just wanted to say I found the same results as you did. My difference between you and I is really only height. I am 5' 11". But I got all the same results on the rides as you did.
If you're having difficulty with the seatbelt on the second one, ask for the extender and hook that in before you sit down, then you have both ends to hang on to. Do you have trouble with ankle restraints? I'm a small person and I find them very painful. Thank you for making these videos.
I am 5'11", 48" waist, about 300. I greatly appreciate you doing this. It was depressing not to be able to do the HP Forbidden Journey because of the tight seats, and even though I was able to do Gringott's that little "fin" in the seat was pushing into my balls the whole time. Not fun.
This is the perfect time for Universal & Disney's "Flight of Passage" to put in bigger seats. While weight loss to stay healthy is always a good thing, it wouldn't hurt them to put in bigget seats on these rides. People spend big bucks for these expensive vacations....and then some cant enjoy the most popular rides. My son has this issue and Ive watched parents unable to ride with their kids. Very sad and disappointing.
When I went there years ago, I was told that a certain row on Revenge of the Mummy had larger seats. So I managed to barely fit. I don’t know if that’s still true.
I wish universal made their rides more plus size friendly but it is what it is. I've ridden RRR, Mummy, & Fallon in the past but I can't anymore. I still haven't ridden Gringotts but I'm not a harry potter fan so I don't really mind but maybe one day...
Do you know how to share videos on Instagram? My wife has a few followers there who would be into this but we don't know how to post or link to videos.
I was about 215 when I visited last. It wasn't so much the height or weight that was the problem. Both Rip Ride Rocket and The Mummy are not generally comfortable for...how do I put this...men.
@ LoZo below, thinks that Universal should discriminate against large people and remove all ride accommodations for them. And she doesn't think it's hateful. Their hateful comments are included in replies to J Storm, below.
Thank you so much for making videos like this. I am also 5'5" but...a little more hippy than you. Thank you again!
What's your weight loss secret? I too am trying to loose weight, and do it without my husband knowing that he's on a diet. Because he doesn't like to diet. But me I not only want to loose weight but tone up and get healthy because I have a grandson that I want to run around with one day and ride some rides with at the amusement parks, but being heavy isn't working.
Height limit on Hollywood Rockit is 6'6-6'7 so wear thin soled shoes and try to slouch down when you get to the front of the line so the ride operators don't measure you. Other than that maybe slim down a bit but you should be fine since 325 isn't that overweight at 6'7
Sad but true... The seats look very uncomfortable...... They want you molded in place..... Got give it to them though every corner there is a treat stand. Here eat all you want gives us more money and less liability....
That Jimmy Fallon matchstick box of a seat is Ridiculous. There's NO reason for that being designed the way it is. The has been the most uncomfortable and needlessly narrow plywood bench absurdity until the Secret Life of Pets seats that you just covered. Fail fail fail.
I think they are purposely designed to keep larger riders off to have less stress and wear on the equipment. Sorry to be blunt but its how I see it and I am an engineer.
I'm 6'5 tall overweight and came back from Florida to my country 🇧🇷 very happy 😁 cuz I fit in all these rides. In my country I don't fit in all local famous amusement parks attractions. I came back with the impression that they thought about the fat people when they designed these rides
I'm 6ft 4 320 lbs and after waiting in line for two hours for Escape from Gringotz with my kids and family found out I couldn't fit in the ride. this is absolute bs and anyone defending it couldn't have a large person row are idiots. the bar hit my belly and my shins and I was told I couldn't ride it. absolute nonsense.

@@cc-uj3ye yes, on hagrid’s ride my problem was my legs and my behind 😂😂 but on the other Harry Potter ride the chest bar was the problem.
Thank you for doing this! This is the most helpful video for Universal rides I've seen!
In case this can help someone here is my experience. I am 5’10” and carry most of my weight in my legs, hips, stomach. I visited universal at both 250lbs and 300lbs.
Rip Ride Rocket
250lbs: No issues on either seat.
300lbs: Green light on one of the seats.
The Mummy: No issues. Ask for row 4 if you want more space.
Gringotts: same as the mummy. No issues. Ask for the back row for more space.
The Hulk
250lbs: no issues
300lbs: more comfortable in the modified seats. The sides of the seats can squeeze into your hips and be uncomfortable, but it’s a short ride.
Rip Saw Falls
250lbs: I was able to fit, but I was incredibly uncomfortable with the seating arrangement.
300lbs: N/A
Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey
250lbs: no issues
300lbs: sit on the edge, not the middle. I had a friend help push the restraint down an extra click or two.
Hagrid’s Motorbike
250lbs: N/A
300lbs: This is a tight fit, but the ride is definitely worth it.
Or sometimes they will ask you before you get on the ride “have you been on this before?” Which is code for “you look like you are on the heavy side, maybe you should try the test.”
But, if you are planning a trip and you are worried about the ride seats, don’t worry too much. There are still rides at Universal that anyone can ride. And you can still have fun even if you can’t fit on some of them.
I can confirm the “have you ridden this before” question. I’ve been asked that several times on Hagrids
Extremely helpful!!! Thank you so much
I am 270 and going in about two months. Hoping to loose a bit of weight hopefully I can fit! I carry a lot of weight in my chest and less in my stomach area (but still pretty chubby) or legs
Just want to say, this video helped so much on my trip to universal
Hello Adrian thanks for the update
How was your shoulder surgery!?! I hope you are healing well🥰
@@hamiltoncrockett1288 it was postpone until Nov 6
@@lisaking4548 I don't know if that is better or not☹ at least you have more time, but also it doesn't help the anxiety. Either way, I am still sending positivity and good vibes your way!!❤❤
@@hamiltoncrockett1288 thanks
Thank you for this information. Can you do other parks too? I would like to see Busch Gardens , Disney World and Sea World. Thank you.
I weigh about 120, and I’m skinny. Don’t feel bad about being plus sized, your awesome for being brave to make this! Love your channel like always!
Great video! When I last went my dad was so disappointed after waiting in line that he couldn't get on Gringotts. Wish we had seen this first. 😄
Thank you for sharing Adrian! I have similar weight issues. You will conquer and meet your goal. You are an inspiration. Thanks for all the fab vids.
Thank you for doing this!! I hope your journey is going well!
I was able to fit at 5/6 295 on the rip rocket
So grateful for this video. You are such a help!!
Amazing video, this helps a lot! Well done! For big guys this is super helpful!!
One of the reasons im so scared of roller costars is that ill slip out :[ and i kinda told my friend ill go on the velicostar with her
thank you so much. you’re a life saver❤️
thank you so much for making this! ☺️
These vids are super helpful man! Great job
Thank you so much for sharing! I have been following you and you have inspired me to start my own weight loss journey I am calling it do it for hagrid!!! Hope I am able to get at my goal next year.
The seatbelt extender is a lifesaver for fallon!
You rock dude !!❤ thanks for ur videos
This is incredibly helpful!! Thank you so much for doing this! 😭
Love you so much for this! Thank you ❤
With gringots I went on it tonight I’m 6 1 at 341 and I fit the test seat wasn’t a no go but row 3 and 6 have more leg room and best way to fit is before I sit down pull it to ur waist and bring it down as ur sitting down I was an inch from not fitting on but gladly did
I'm 6-5 170 and had no problems with leg room on any row
Thank you for the awesome update!!! Very informative!!!
I am 5'11", 48" waist, about 300. I greatly appreciate you doing this. It was depressing not to be able to do the HP Forbidden Journey because of the tight seats, and even though I was able to do Gringott's that little "fin" in the seat was pushing into my balls the whole time. Not fun.
Any videos for Hershey park?
Thank you for the info! 👍
Thank you for doing this, VERY helpful!
I appreciate you doing this
I wish universal made their rides more plus size friendly but it is what it is.
1:45 "MY KIDS!"
3:25 “Guests with certain body dimensions” I felt attacked 😂😂😂😂 /j
Rip ride rockit hurts
Thank you so much for making videos like this. I am a roller coaster lover but also someone with a thyroid issue who wildly yo-yos around 300 and its so frustrating not to mention embarrassing to get to a park and not being able to do anything! I am also 5'5" but...a little more hippy than you. Thank you again!
Super helpful, thanks!
Does anyone else think that the throw behind him in the office looks like a giant tortilla?lol. Super helpful info, thanks.
Excellent! video!
What do you think if I am 6’7 1/2 and weigh 325? What do you think
Height limit on Hollywood Rockit is 6'6-6'7 so wear thin soled shoes and try to slouch down when you get to the front of the line so the ride operators don't measure you. Other than that maybe slim down a bit but you should be fine since 325 isn't that overweight at 6'7
I have a very large chest and small hips. I felt like I was about to fall out. I was terrified. I will NEVER ride this again.
Sad but true... The seats look very uncomfortable...... They want you molded in place..... Got give it to them though every corner there is a treat stand. Here eat all you want gives us more money and less liability....
You said your weight but what is your height?
He’s 5’5 , it’s in the description box
That Jimmy Fallon matchstick box of a seat is Ridiculous. There's NO reason for that being designed the way it is. The has been the most uncomfortable and needlessly narrow plywood bench absurdity until the Secret Life of Pets seats that you just covered. Fail fail fail.
Ughhhh I hate being fat. I’m fat bc I’m late in my pregnancy and can’t wait to get this weight off
😳 those seats are small
You ain’t missing much. Rip ride is brain rattler
Yeah it's still fun though
I wish universal was built like Disney. I’ve lost weight and still don’t fit on all the rights because of my hips and bum
would be nice to have them in a building near entrance. Instead they place them right in the front of attractions and embarrass people.
I really enjoy watching you’re vedio’s. But this is sad you’re putting yourself through this. And universal give’s you a extended belt for you. Not good nor not safe.I really enjoy watching your vedio’s but this sad.
