When we got our 2016 Grand Design, the RV furniture went out the door. We put our regular furniture in, and put our own mattress too. We Rv full time and since it's our home on Wheels , you want your own things. Safe travels.

For the wet corners take a look on the outside. Most rv’s do a very bad job of sealing that and the water running down the slide can penetrate the end of the board on the outside.

The Rv mattress thing works but an Rv queen size is six inches shorter than a home queen size . We put a home queen in our motorhome and the width is dead on but the length now hits the wall at the foot of the bed . So if you want the mattress to fit your Rv , buy an Rv mattress.

At least the slide is under the awning. So many of the slides leak like crazy. Cause the oily wood underneath to rot. The water comes down the side of the slides then hits the edge of the particle board. It sucks the moisture in. I had to replace the hole slide bottom for my mother in law. Hers is semi permanent so I made some drip edge to put on the bottom of the slide. Keep an eye on it. They all leak. There are some cool videos on how people water proof them on UA-cam

Great video, I would like to do close to that in ours, and also get rid of the dinette and replace with a table and chairs, I agree with you on the chairs and the mattress, but I beg to differ on the toilet paper, we can get a 12 double roll pack for about $9 and that's about or a little less than household, and even if there is no difference, it still cost about the same.....

    • @saltytrips

@@terrywalker9904 caroet delete was definitely the way to go, seems like more manufacturers are getting the hint and making them that way. Although you may be able to find a good deal on “RV TP” here and there but generally speaking RV TP cost more on average but there are a gazillion videos out there and also RV techs explaining there is no advantage of RV TP over regular test time and time again, so in and of itself is 100% scam.

That leak in the corner may be water that runs down the side of the slide and doesn’t fall to the ground but rather follows the bottom edge of the slide under to the “particle board” flooring. If you don’t open/close the slides much, we solved by cutting some aluminum flashing and creating a knife edge for the water to fall to the ground holding it on with aluminum tape. Has totally dried out our wetness. Obviously you would remove before closing your slide.

@@saltytripsi saw that you saw a hole you sealed. Hopefully that solves it. Go out during a good rain and see if that water isn’t defying physics and making its way around the 90 degree bend to the particle board floor. Ours was. We have been dry as a bone for years now. The aluminum tape adheres smooth to the fiberglass to make sure the water follows the knife edge.

Good video however, I disagree 150 percent about RV TP. It isn't that much more expensive than regular TP, not even $1.00 per roll when you buy at Wally World and I will gladly pay a buck to lower the chances of me putting my hand up that dump pipe. By the way we were told to NEVER use Cottenelle in our home septic system. It has real cotton fibers and will cause a big clump. I ask a friend who manages a sewer system for a mid sized town and he agrees with avoiding Cottenelle.
