Oh yeah. Tesla speakers are lovely. They sound awesome when powered by a good amp. The basic Tesla amps aren't really good enough. But their tape decks were the best in the eastern block.
Yeah, thats why i love Tesla speakers! I also have another pair with wooden box, and with a proper crossover inside! They are powered by my Technics amp and they sound amazing!
Tesla did make mostly good amps. It's that they were really pricey and not all people could afford them. It was cheaper for someone to just build their own (often a copy of some creation found in amateur electronics magazines). Most of the amps there were quite okay too, though certainly not HiFi (if not counting tube amps). I can also confirm, Tesla speakers do sound absolutely amazing when driven by a good amp:)

When they finally got their speakers, they didn't want to wait for another period until a new waiting list was opened. They found a friend who owns service manuals and schematics of Tesla products. And another friend who had a collection of spare parts. Found the easiest one to make and made it themselves.
