Tom, check to see if the diameter of the eye on your auger is the same as the diameter of the hole size it makes. This was often done so when you went to make pegs to fit the holes you bored, you got them close in size, then tapped them through the eye, which would shear off the excess and leave you with a perfectly sized peg. Just boar into a log, and then remove the handle. Make sure you bore a hole about 3/4 of the length of the auger spiral, then back it out so the screw tip doesn't get damaged. File a bevel around the auger eye to make it work better as a peg dye. It doesn't need to be sharp.

I used these old buck saws and even made sting instument for scalding songs and they can also be used as a bow with the proper string, we also used two man saw that we called godendor, we had to sharpen it once in a while, I always preferred Sandvik blades for the buck saw, very good steel. Husqvarna is my favorite chain saw and Americans could never build anything that could match it, Scandinavian steel and craftmanship has always been the best. I'm going across the road to the store and get me a 6 pack of good ale and have a drink to your health. Good day my friend✨

I love your new buck saw so much and used one while growing up and living with my grandparents. We used that saw to cut our wood for both our heater, and stove which my grandmother cooked on. The buck saw my grandfather had was made totally of steel and it worked just like it was suppose to. That is a great idea of building a raised bed and the auger you purchased will be handy for that task. When I saw the sandwich you had and the rye bread it was made with I thought about what my mother's doctor told her about eating whole wheat bread instead of the regular white bread she normally ate. She ate that type of bread until her death, and I eat it also, and no longer eat white bread for health reasons. I probably should be trying out rye bread also due to it's quality and health features.

Hello Tom, nice video. I wanted to let you know that I took a spike the other day, heated it in the forge, squared it up then twisted it, drew out a point and create a Viking eating spike. There are some things I want to modify on it, but it turned out pretty nice. It is not meant for eating peas. Have a great week.

They were carpenters and I have kept many of the old tools. I like the back rest you're making especially using pins to connect the cross pieces (slats) to the uprights. That scotch eye is great.. i have been looking for antique ones that timber framers use. but that one is awesome.. you can make all kinds of great stuff, bush craft furniture, even from a dry log you can make a rocket stove that will burn the log down really awesome like a Norwegian candle, or finish torch, but a rock stove hole on tops matching hole on the side and the log will burn from the inside out.. great to have scotch eye it is so versatile. you can also make a camp mallet. By the way you do some great leather work.. and the wink always makes me laugh .. good job.. J

I made one of those bow saws, I posted a video of it on my channel. it is a short video, but was a fun build,. I decided to give it away. I think it will be a fun give away. The one I made is not nearly as nice as this one, I love the hidden saw blade as well as the built in saw blade holder. Thanks for sharing this video with us. I like that saw, old design that still works today. That sandwich looks healthy with that rye bread. That must be liverwurst, I think that would be the american translation. You got lucky with the scotch eyed auger, been looking for one locally for a few years. I have a few old draw knives that I love. Oh, and speaking of customs costs, I priced Granfors axes over there and they are reasonable. In the states there is only 1 distributor and they are priced triple over here in the states. Small forest axe is around 165-235 USD. Hult and Hultafors about the same. Great video, once again. ATB, Cris.

I bought my saw from the same seller. The saw has been through alot of punishment and still is intact. I had to trim down the sides of the handles to be more comfortable when handling. I have small hands 😂 Nice video!

Camp is coming on well starting to come together now, I saw a scotch eye auger that someone had welded a keyless drill chuck too so you could change the size of the bits ( can’t remember where I saw it ) but thought it was a good idea.keep up the good work, enjoying your vids
Your lunch looked wonderful. We have something called Liverwurst. Is it the same? Ours comes cooked/smoked and is solid and like a big sausage. You cut it thick or thin and make a nice sandwich out of it. So good.

its nice to see you again. keep up the good work. You have given me an idea for some of my father and grandfathers old auger bits. They were carpenters and I have kept many of the old tools. I like the back rest you're making especially using pins to connect the cross pieces (slats) to the uprights. Good luck with your project and the raised bed is a great idea too.

That scotch eye is great.. i have been looking for antique ones that timber framers use. but that one is awesome.. you can make all kinds of great stuff, bush craft furniture, even from a dry log you can make a rocket stove that will burn the log down really awesome like a Norwegian candle, or finish torch, but a rock stove hole on tops matching hole on the side and the log will burn from the inside out.. great to have scotch eye it is so versatile. you can also make a camp mallet. By the way you do some great leather work.. and the wink always makes me laugh .. good job.. J

I made one of those bow saws, I posted a video of it on my channel. it is a short video, but was a fun build,. I decided to give it away. I think it will be a fun give away. The one I made is not nearly as nice as this one, I love the hidden saw blade as well as the built in saw blade holder.

I like that saw, old design that still works today. That sandwich looks healthy with that rye bread. That must be liverwurst, I think that would be the american translation. Using wood pegs instead of screws on that backrest, nice.Really like how your camp is coming along. Thanks for another great video.

You got lucky with the scotch eyed auger, been looking for one locally for a few years. I have a few old draw knives that I love. Oh, and speaking of customs costs, I priced Granfors axes over there and they are reasonable. In the states there is only 1 distributor and they are priced triple over here in the states. Small forest axe is around 165-235 USD. Hult and Hultafors about the same. Great video, once again. ATB, Cris.

I bought my saw from the same seller. The saw has been through alot of punishment and still is intact. I had to trim down the sides of the handles to be more comfortable when handling. I have small hands 😂

Camp is coming on well starting to come together now, I saw a scotch eye auger that someone had welded a keyless drill chuck too so you could change the size of the bits ( can’t remember where I saw it ) but thought it was a good idea.keep up the good work, enjoying your vids

Your lunch looked wonderful. We have something called Liverwurst. Is it the same? Ours comes cooked/smoked and is solid and like a big sausage. You cut it thick or thin and make a nice sandwich out of it. So good.
No not exactly the same 🤔 our leverpostej is more like a patè made out of pork liver. Almost a Danish national dish

In germany, especially where i grown up, we called bread like this, "Lebberworschtbrot" it sounds a little bit like you called your bread, i love to drink milk while i´m eating it ;-) The tools are pretty cool and you´re camp looks so cosy! I love the Bush Saw (what we Australians call the saws used to cut wood in the bush. I have never seen one like that though, so clever. I don't see a link for it though. (lots of other interesting links there).
