Thanks! To be honest, I'm a bit surprised you don't like the bracelet. If it's just the style, I understand. But it feels pretty solid and comfortable to me. What don't you like about it, if you don't mind?
100% agree about the bracelet. With the watch on my wrist, it felt so top-heavy. It's the one major drawback and the main reason I haven't gotten one yet.
That's what I heard about the "Five" but In the video I can see one without the day complication, one with the crown at the 3 o'clock and one with a canvas strap. All with the new logo.
30 meters means it can withstand 30 meters of atmospheric pressure, which can sometimes be met in less than 30 meters of water (like for example, if you fall off a jetski, you'll hit the water harder and expose the watch to greater pressure than you would otherwise)
@@SugarKalamay if the watch says 10ATM it actually means 10 atmospheric metres which is equivalent to 100m water resistance. Minimum requirement for swimming is 50m but generally better to go for a 100m+ if you intend to use it for swimming
@@rossweavin3781 i know the difference between 10m and 10ATM and it doesn't matter. A casio with 10m water resistance doesn't leak. Same with a seiko with 10atm. Both are safe to swim unless you plan to dive 100m everytime you swim
@@SugarKalamay yes but it doesnt decrease the probability of it happening. You were just lucky. try diving into the water a few times and see what happens.
Common mistakes about 5 features. I mean, even in this video he says day and date and the next shot is Seiko 5 without day function. Also, there were Seiko 5 quartz watches too, and so on.
These "rules" existed when the Seiko 5 was first released but as you can see, they've broken it a few times since then. The Seiko 5 Sports models no longer have just 30m water resistance, most, if not all, have 100 meter!
In 1960s having an automatic movement didn't mean that it doesn't require a battery. It meant that it doesn't require manual winding.
Correct!
Absolutely true
So proud to see the word Malaysia printed at the back of Seiko.
My first watch was a seiko for my 10th birthday. I'm 48 and I wear a grand seiko now.
My very first watch was a Seiko5 Automatic ❤
I bought my Seiko 5 in 1993 for $45 brand new and I am still wearing it everyday. It’s unusually small at less than 36mm but it fits my slender wrist.
Jubillee bracelet looks good to me
Great summary! I have the Seiko 5 GMT with the Batman bezel and love it, except for the bracelet.
Try a two tone blue Nato strap. I have one on mine. So much better and totally different
Thanks! To be honest, I'm a bit surprised you don't like the bracelet. If it's just the style, I understand. But it feels pretty solid and comfortable to me. What don't you like about it, if you don't mind?
NATO is like pajamas for a watch. Always so comfortable to wear. Wearing one right now on my Hamilton Khaki
@@ChronometerCheck Great description 😂
@@greys7545 🤣
I would pay 1000$ for a bracelet finished to swiss standards for my seikos.
lucky you they have watches in that price range lol

What's the name of the silver

Believe me.... Seiko 5 are great reliable watchea
Oh I believe you!! Have plenty lol

These "rules" for the 5 were when they were first released :) no longer the case as you can tell
That rule applies when it first released, maybe nowadays it's just to indicate their entry level automatic watch.
I love mine, even the bracelet lol.
Hahaha. It has a certain charm to it! Just a bit of a wobbly hair puller
My first Seiko 5 is a Diver Frankenmonster still have it til now.
Seiko GM GMT Qatar price
You won't ruin a 30m water resistant watch by swimming with it, not even in an Olympic swimming pool, now diving .... Possibly.
Wearing mine right now. Ordered a oyster bracelet for it before I put it on.
Do you know how deep 30 meters straight down is? Not many people do it, if they do they would have a 2 or 3 hundred meter watch.
Movement made in Malaysia ❤. Certain Ulysses Nardin parts are made here too. The real Wakanda
Why it is written MALAYSIA? not JAPAN?
As that first close-up second had running backwards? Is there an explanation for that?
Video editing trickery
I have one. Great watch
Got my SPRD93 with a modded wristband. Three and a half years as a daily and its been amazing.
SSK001 and SRPD65 is my next cop 🙌
I'm sorry but I don't think there is such thing as a 30 meter deep bathroom sink to wash my hand to...LOL!!!

The crown issue is just neat picking, jeez just wear your watch like 5mm higher, that crown ain't 1 inch thick
What is your favorite bracelet for a seiko? I like many aftermarket bands and I've grown fond of the straight bar look on a dive watch
Strapcode Jubilee Band. I have 2.
@@b.wolfram8743 wonderful choice
Anything from Strapcode
That watch that written Malaysia at the back of it,is from which model?
Timestamp?
@@ChronometerCheck i cant mark the time stamp on shorts
It is at starting of few second in the video where is written "#1-Automatic Movement"
In 1969 25th December first quartz wrist watch was born
i have a seiko 5 with a 3 o clock crown though?
Srpg35 got me
Haha... kinda agree with the bracelet. Its awful. Had to replace mine with leather (SNK803) since day 1 😅 and it looks great
100 m water resistance
Why would 30m of water resistance mean you can't swim with the watch? Does it not mean it can go up to 30m under the water?
30 meters means it can withstand 30 meters of atmospheric pressure, which can sometimes be met in less than 30 meters of water (like for example, if you fall off a jetski, you'll hit the water harder and expose the watch to greater pressure than you would otherwise)
@@ChronometerCheck no you would not. I swam with watches that have 10m water resistance and they work fine.
@@SugarKalamay if the watch says 10ATM it actually means 10 atmospheric metres which is equivalent to 100m water resistance. Minimum requirement for swimming is 50m but generally better to go for a 100m+ if you intend to use it for swimming

Cool little things!
I didn't like my Seiko 5 and ended up giving it to a friend.
I have a Seiko 5 field watch , it says 41 hour power reserve ... BS
Really? I find mine have pretty good power reserves
Take it to a service, then. They have 40h power reserve...
Seiko 5 was not the first japanese watch with day and date function

U complaint 30m? U canr even swim that deep
I wish we could stop with that disgusting, misleading water resistance measurement
Is the seiko 5 an Alpinist? Sorry newbie
Nope.
