  • Often the replacement of parts without special tools seems very difficult to do, but in this case, here is how you can do this replacement easily.

Dude, you saved me so much time. I never thought soapy water would be able to do this.
Thank you for posting this video.

Nice video. I checked mine at 141k miles when I did my t case fluid and it looked fine. I would recommend checking the rear diff mount too

The soap solution is honestly the best! It worked for me - got the last 1/3 out in a minute after the first 2/3 took hours!

I know, everything becomes much easier, I learned this from a BMW German mechanic trainer 10 years ago.

Can I ask what symptoms were you getting to make you decide to replace this mounting? Thanks

Is it the same process for an F30? BMW manual says you need to remove the exhaust?

It is necessary because otherwise the special tool does not come in, it is not necessary if you replace the part as in the video.

Now do it on a 10+yr old car, started this on my f30 the rubber is basically fused to the metal 3hours and all ive done is tear the rubber to shreads. Borderline breaking out a sawzaw

If you know that the car is older, before disassembling, spray it with a soap solution when disassembling.

@@JHAMS-007-car-repair oh boy did I lol, ended up careful and slowly cutting through with a sawzaw until I got through the metal embedded in the rubber, came right out. Was hesitant to do so, but after several hours went for it. Took it slow, didn't make contact with the transfer case so worked out. What a pain though

Would you have been able to use c clamps or bar clamps to slide that back in easier?

Yes, I can have access to some of the special BMW tools, my interest is to help those who do not have access to this area.

It is possible with any xdrive, only the shape of the piece differs.

Did you did it ? I’m having the same issue, don’t know If doing it myself or taking it to a shop…. I’ve seen others videos and sometimes is really hard to take out without the tool

@@carlosalvarezrivas416 yeah it's possible, however I had the transmission out of the car and ended up having to buy a new mount because I bent the other mount trying to press it in. Make sure you sand the bore really good and use more soap than water. Also freeze or cool the mount to get it to shrink a bit before pressing it in.

Is this same as the rear diff?

    • @t.p1234xyz
      @t.p1234xyz Рік тому +2

No, not even close! You need to remove the exhaust, heat shield and disconnect the drive shaft. You will also need a bushing extraction tool. I replaced my F12 rear diff bushings with Powerflex bushings. You might as well replace the guibo while you are at it. It's a lot of work, but it can be done.

@toddpope2134 whats the benefit of the powerflex bushings?
