I'm 52 now, but when I was 18, I had an Italian girlfriend who used to go home to Italy, to visit her family (grandparents, uncles and aunts) for holiday every year and she really loved it. She always told me, her family lives high up in an old village in the wine mountains and that it's one of the most joyful, peaceful and most beautiful places on earth. Her whole family, from all over the world came together and met there once a year to celebrate life! But after coming back "home" she was always wondering, what would happen to the place, after her grandparents would die, as she and her parents, siblings, cousins etc. was living outside Italy since generations. She was always worried, that when her grandparents would die, the place would die too and simply turn to dust! Because all family members were living spread around the whole world, and none of them would've been ready to return back to Italy to live in a mountain village. Today the grandparents are long gone and even me sometimes wonder what happened to their home in the mountains. As I know for sure, that none of the kids/grandkids went to live there after they died. I guess their home could just be like one of those beautiful places you are exploring today. Once upon a time a place full of love, life and happiness, today maybe a place abandoned, sad and lonely 🙁

Yes! Encyclopedias were our 'google'! ; ) And I can hardly believe I am in my 60's ...and find it so strange that this young man has never made a phone call on a rotary phone!!! Life is indeed ephemeral. What we take for granted today can swiftly change and become an "ancient way of life"! However we take our lessons with us when we "shuffle off this 'mortal coil" and our developing spirituality is always a constant moving through time and space. ...As I believe the spirit moves on and reincarnates in a new and hopefully improved supple and young 'wine-skin' that holds the eternal wine of the spirit which can only improve with age *if* one treats life and this world as a classroom to learn and grow and eventually 'graduate' from.

Lesley, one day you will write a book about your adventures in documenting these poor forlorn homes and forgotten families. How wonderful their lives, and how sad that no one has taken charge of the family heirlooms. Keep up the great work.
Maybe some day do a recap & tell if anyone ever saves the old places. It would be great to see if any places were ever turned into hotels or wedding venues or family homes.
You’re amazing Leslie💙🌟🙏🏻Always such great content and such a soothing voice! So happy you’re teaming up with Maureno!! Excellent Team!! Can’t wait for more adventures 🌟💙🌟Stay Safe
Since I have been watching your videos. I am acutely aware how precious life is. To make the most of your time here on earth. Along with the importance of people you love.
You have a charming and respectful manner with your presentations. I enjoy your peaceful and thorough investigations. So very glad you can do this full time now. Thank you for keeping your interests thriving and our viewing interesting.
I miss having more free time to watch this videos more often... in a very not fun life as mine where I only work and pay bills, this channel is where I find my peace and I'm thankfull for that
I was so nervous for you watching this! It’s so trashed! 😳 Everything was in such a bad state! I love really love when you visit places less dangerous, with beautiful things. Thanks for going places I could never go! Just don’t take chances with your life! 😊
You have such a kind, calm voice. It's relaxing to listen to your unique channel. Thanks for bringing history to life instead of just picking up everything you see and messing about.
*Hi Lesley* Wishing you continued success as a full time UA-camr - you are simply the best and worked hard to make this channel specially informative 😉👍🥂
I can understand some of the material possessions are left behind as they are so dilapidated but surely the personal memories should not be left behind. Those photos are priceless.
This house is clearly one of the 100’s of Italian houses that had to be abandoned after an earthquake. The reason so much is left behind is because the Italian government does not allow anyone to return after evacuation. In fact whole Italian towns/villages have been abandoned in this way. Wow Lesley, how many beautiful comments about this documentary: the intro with your Van. The presence of Maureno in the video. You are the best explorers. The beautiful story of Maria and Carlo. The interesting details left behind. All wonderful, deserves a lot of applauses. Good luck on your new Journey 👏👏❤❤🇧🇷
I wonder if this house had earthquake damage. I got the impression that this was a family homeplace which had been divided between the 2 siblings and that maybe they used as secondary home for each family. Very cool video!

I love how Italian houses preserve traditional and family values all the time and this house makes no exception; despite the serious decay out there, precious memories and items are present almost everywhere; "Buon Natale" e "Vi voglio bene" is "Merry Christmas" and "I love you all" in Italian! Thank you for the interesting story and the lovely exploration!!!
That’s very brave of you to quit your job Lesley ,but omg what an adventure, your only here one do all you can ,while you can good luck to you an your friend 😘😘😘😘😽🥂🍾

As I grow old [74] I start to wonder if my own dear home will ever be derelict? Lesley, I hope only the Bros of Decay explore, you do such a thoughtful and sweet search, it reminds me of my first tentative explore when I was 9 years old, you capture the poignant combination of the touching care and love of the previous occupants with the gentle slow decay I remember so well...the perfectly made bed with a fine gritty dust of old plaster on the coverlet; the window jammed open with the curtain fluttering in and out...in and out... in all weathers. I went back downstairs as quietly as I could and put water in a saucer so that any stray animals coming in could get a drink.
This place…WOW! You can just imagine them there! Thank you for what you do. And Congrats on being able to explore full time! You must be so excited!! I can’t wait to see where “we” go!
You're correct, even though it's a small residence it's very lovely. What you call the common room appears to me to have been brought down by possibly an explosion. I enjoy all your videos, I thank you very much and I wish you much success in your future adventures 👍☮️
What a nice story about a brother and sister. It's such a shame their children would not have wanted family pictures and other items from their childhood home.
They looked like a real nice family. Very loving and close. It's such a shame the homes are falling down and everything inside is being ruined. But the house has a very interesting history.
It does not matter if the house is small or not... you did a absolutely wonderful job remembering those that have passed. I love your videos so very much. Thank you for all your hard work you are greatly appreciated. Peace love and light from Kansas USA ✌ 💕☀️🌻
Interesting ceiling in the house, never seen that before. I'm so glad that this is your calling. You're doing a fantastic job and the respect you give the families and their belongings is impressive.
AMAZING...You and yr friends always give truly wonderful footage and information about abandoned places. I love your voice; you seem kind and caring about everything you investigate. Thank you for your videos and may your future adventures bring enough monetary gains to support all future endeavors..
Great documentary Lesley. I really enjoyed your interpretation of the documents you found. This was a wonderful opportunity to see this old Italian home. Congratulations on changing your job. I hope you do well and have a lot of prosperity. Thank you so much for the video.
Awww Leslie! You're so precious! I wish I had a son just like you. I didn't have children, but it's cool. I wish Geordie well & all the best to him. Thank you so much for all you do. Your videos make me very happy, remember that dear man! 😘👍🫂💜🌹🕊️🕊️🕊️🕊️🕊️🕊️🕊️🕊️🕊️
Love the van , it’s a great way to travel, you can stopped and get some rest and sleep anywhere, the old telephone I use it in my time when I was younger, its took forever just to call someone specially emergency call , sadly to see a place like this with a lot of memories got abandoned, very big property indeed, love the wartime pictures it’s very historical and interesting ,climbing to the second floor look very adventure indeed thank you for sharing

Thank you so much, Lesley, for doing all that research, on the places you visit before to show us your videos. It makes us see things differently and I would say on a more intimate side with the people who lived in these places you make us discover. 💖
Hi Lesley & Maureno, & Jeremiah, I love how you show your van & the story about you quitting your other job & telling that your brother who you are still close too, but he doesn`t want to do this type of work anymore! Doing these jobs of abandoned places forever & the life story of Carlos & Maria! Wow, it`s a shame the roof has collapsed to such a beautiful 2 houses that the brother & his family on one side & his sister & family on the other side. Wow they had 2 vehicles out back & motorcycles inside covered with debri & dirt. There was so much to see on Carlos side of furniture & kitchen & some pictures & now where Carlos & his wife`s wrought iron bed will get smashed once the rest of the ceiling falls in. Wow, the middle house that is small is completely smashed, now to Maria`s house , wow that is scary to climb up all the roof debri to get upstairs! Thank Goodness no problems! Not called tissues, these are called handkerchiefs, tissues are kleenex, paper ones is paper towels. Wow, her living room with all her furniture in her rooms, pictures & her lovely carved bed frame of Maria & her husband. What a shame the adult children of Maria or of Carlos to not take the pictures or the furniture or even the beautiful chandelier as memory of their parents! Thanks guys for sharing this adventure with all of us!! Take care & stay safe, love you ....from Illinois USA
Oh, Lesley! I love your videos and your style and all these ancient places! Thank you for this great job! Encantada! ♥️
Very dangerous. Be careful with these old homes. Your such a romanticist it’s very enjoyable to hear you describe they’re lives and loves. Thanks again
I really enjoy your finds! You do your best to bring the former residents to life, to give them breath again, so to speak. At the same time, I find your description of items that belonged to years before you were born quite humorous! In this episode, Britannica Encyclopedias were desired by academics and those who wanted to learn. (They were also quite costly!) You could aptly describe these books as the Google Chrome of their time.
Wow! I wish you all the best for your new plans. Such a nice thing to do😍 Stay safe and healthy and show us many new amazing things we never saw before 🤗
Congratulations to you and Maureno for following your dreams and adventures. I am happy for you. This interesting villa is very unique, of course the history allows us to share the adventure. I like how the home was shared just like your adventure here, thank you.
hi lesley. its amazing watching your channel.mthank you for sharing your adventures and explorations to us. take care always God Bless your journey all the time
Kathy from Wisconsin..USA. I really like to watch your videos. These houses and homes you walk through. The information about each place is so amazing. Thank you for sharing. Garsh I love the bed and the carving.

Thank you for your thoughtful comment! Though we think that life is a long journey, everything in life are ephemeral after all, Aren't they?
its sad that we grow up and dont want to keep our pass alive especial if you own the place so sad i take it.

Great Video .
You have a beautiful soul, enjoyed your video
thank you for taking us on these discovery trips. You do a good job with your filming and commentary.
Depending on where this is in Italy, the damage to the house could very well be caused by an earthquake
Good point 🤔
I thought a bomb. But, earthquake sounds more likely.
I just said the same thing!😀
Sounds good 👌
Bomb or earthquake
I had my doubts whether the balcony in the last part could hold you. Thank you for this beautiful impression of how people lived in this house
Beautiful story of a wonderful family great filming as allways thank you guys for sharing this with us.

Hi Lesley & Maureno, & Jeremiah, I love how you show your van & the story about you quitting your other job & telling that your brother who you are still close too, but he doesn`t want to do this type of work anymore!

Hi Lesley! I am such a huge fan of your documentaries! I discovered you guys during lock down and you have made a difference in my life! It sounds strange to say but I just admire and appreciate you so much and your content is wonderfully fascinating! Thank you for all you do! And I am so happy that you’re devoting your time to exploration and got a van! So excited for you and can’t wait for adventures to come! This house is amazing. Also it looked like one of the cupboards in the kitchen had a bunch of postcards attached inside! Ok off to Patreon to support you forever!!! Love from Margaret in Seattle ❤️
Oh yeah!!!! Congratulations on going full-time UA-cam!!! How fantastic tat is! Oh how I would love to do what you do. God bless you Leslie 👍🕊️🕊️🕊️🕊️🕊️🕊️🕊️🕊️🕊️🕊️
I'm so excited for you! Quitting your job to start your own business is considered risky by some people, but my husband did it and he is a much happier man. Always follow your heart, it will never lead you astray.❤️
wow good for you for taking the plunge and leaving your job to follow your dream! Wishing you all the best and look forward to more of your fantastic videos. You do a great job, entertaining, great visuals and I love the history info that you add to them, real nice!

Encantada! ♥️
Very dangerous. Be careful with these old homes. Your such a romanticist it’s very enjoyable to hear you describe they’re lives and loves. Thanks again
Leslie, Your Narration is like a cherry on cake in these beautiful videos💛
You are the heart beat of reminiscing and romance of the discarded.
Que exploração maravilhosa! Amei ver Lesley e Maureno juntos no vídeo. A casa era muito aconchegante e cheia de história pra contar. Saudações do 🇧🇷
Thank you for keeping your videos clean and family friendly.
Every bottle in the upstairs bathroom of Maria was def. from the 1970's ...I felt I had a flash back moment to my childhood!
Big or small, houses or castles, mansions etc... you always do a great job!! Bravo and Opa!!! :)😘
Now I feel old. Never used a dial telephone to make a call!
Wow! I wish you all the best for your new plans. Such a nice thing to do😍 Stay safe and healthy and show us many new amazing things we never saw before 🤗
