Thank you for being such a great teacher. I like it when teachers just talk to us like regular people and NOT in such a cerebral way. You have marvelous talents.
You are the go to guy when I'm studying for my math tests! Seriously, thank you for explaining these topics clearly and concisely. I REALLY appreciate it!
you are sooooo good at what you do!! I ALWAYS love for your videos when I'm lost at college. Thank you sooo much...you helped me to pass my last exam and I'm sure this video will help me pass the one I have next week. THANK YOU from Trinidad and Tobago (Caribbean)
Patrick, thank you so much for helping thousands of students around the world. You do really make a difference. You follow what Leonardo Davinci said. "Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication"
Why are you so AWESOME!? Thank you, my professor has been teaching logs for a week and more than half the class is STILL confused. You did it in MINUTES and I have a much better grasp.
these videos are absolutely wonderful. i am missing classes due to a fracture and these are making self learning much easier and fun. thank you SO MUCH, you have no idea what a life saver these videos are.
THANK YOU SO MUCH! I'm a senior in high school in advanced calculus and this stuff helps me out a lot, you sir have just given me a key to salvation for the rest of the year
I believe the problem with many teachers is that they have knowledge of the material that they have learned themselves, but cannot "teach" the material to their students. Thus, I notice teachers who "believe" that they are capable of teaching material, when they really cannot. You, have that talent of teaching. Teaching is a talent, a gift, and you have that.
Was watching your videos for a whole weekend, 6 hours a day, while studying for my pre-calc midterm. With your help, i got a 96% ! Thanks for all your help.
Thank you so much for your videos man. Im stuck with an Asian teacher this semester who not only has a horrible accent and language barrier, but shoots through our chapters. Im stuck having to teach myself what she went over in class on my own. Your videos definitely make it so much easier. I really appreciate your help.
I'm taking an advanced math course this summer (i'm 3 years ahead of regular ed) and its pretty much learning algebra 2 in 15 days. We are going through this log chapter and i wanted to thank you for clarifying this chapter and making the homework load go a little smoother. Since we have to cram this all in one day im just going to try to memorize the formulas for the chapter test tomorrow. Thanks again, very helpful videos, im moving on to part 2 now!
I've generally found teachers can skip so much when teaching a math subject, and that students who have freshly learned something can show you in a way that you understand... I think you take a students approach to teaching and I like it! ~Thanks~
I just want to say how awesome your videos are. I am taking a math class online, and your videos are serving as my virtual 'classroom' I learn math so much better by watching it (as opposed to reading notes) so your videos are invaluable to my success in this online class. thank you so much :)
your really such a life saver... thanks for the past 3 years that u were making videos in.. I got alot of experience from it.. just watching ur examples really helps me alot .. instead of looking at the stupid algebra book which doesn't express even a single method correctly... really thank u
Why couldn't you be my Advanced Functions course teacher...I seriously would have at least gotten 80-90% with the way you explain things. Thanks a lot for making these videos. You have no idea how much they've helped me, and others as well seeing from the comment section! :)
Thank you SO so MUCH for uploading these!! My math teacher couldn't teach us as she was involved in Thomas Cup (badminton) and she left us with so much math homeworks and I didn't even know how to answer most of the questions! Well, now I CAN !! thank you !!!!
i NEVER leave comments, but you need to be a teacher. you are very good at this and very much helping me learn this, considering my instructor is 70% deaf......so asking questions is basically out of the question. thanks a bunch man!
thanks, this really helped!!! I like how when u showed the examples, u went from the simple stuff to the harder problems. Unlike my teacher, he teaches us the easy stuff and expects us to know what to do when it gets tricky.
wow, you're great..the way you explain math is just amazing. i'm still wondering what is it that make your explaination soooo clear, cause you just "write and talk" like every other teachers but yet it goes down my brain sooo nice and smooth.thank you!!!
@UltimateAlley it's really nice of you for tutoring her!!! Here some of us don't even have to BE tutored, our schedules are all cramped up from class and cramp school 0.0 I SO admire you for doing what you're doing!!!
My teacher made a good point yesterday - When she was in school they did not use scientific calculators. They had to know the base of the first 3 exponents. Then they used them to get any number needed. Imagine doing math by hand for logarithims! WOW! I am so happy we can use a calculator!
I've been using your videos (I'm a year ahead in math) and this year I started my first year of online schooling where you basically have to teach yourself. Im a visual person and you have helped a lot! thank you!! :DD
thank you so much! i wasn't there the day we learned this, and my teacher didn't show me how to do it when i came back. she just handed me the papers. this helped me so much ~
Patrick my son is also Patrick, however neither one of us good at math. I see that if I am correct all these functions have a certain formula to go by, how is one ever remember all of them? I am feeling very overwhelmed by all this. I am in Grand canyon university getting my BA in management,I need help in logarithm was just wondering how do you tell one form to be done to another. Thanks, Lisa
could you restate your question as i do not really understand when you say: all these functions have a certain formula to go by... and math is like any subject; there is a ton of memorization unless you have time to derive every detail (which no one does)
I bet your students love you and your videos huh ? Thanks for such a well paced video and it explains the concepts better than other people on UA-cam .
@hellabadasiwannabe you should probably look up what is on the g.e.d. as opposed to trusting random people on the internet. this is considered high school algebra, so i would not be shocked to see it, but i personally have no clue.
Patrick thanks so much for putting up these videos. They really do help out. You are really good at explaining. Keep up the awsome work !!! you are my math god
Thanks for these logarithmic and exponential videos. They will be a review for me so that I can be up to speed on the math I need to use for my chemistry class I'm taking this Fall semester. Thanks again!!!
@patrickJMT is there an easy way to work out what the square number is going to be or do you just go through them all in your head log3 243=x you have to go raise three to the power five times before you get to the answer, what do you do if the answer is very question is harder
patrick do you know that u re a life saver !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! u just saved my life i have quiz on this crap and didnt even have a clue about what a logarithms is !!!!!!!! ur videos helped XD
7:00 i think the reason why its being added when its multipled is probably because in that instance ur using laws of indices um if i remember a^2 x a^3 = a^5 is that correct? .
Thanks you so much for the time you put into this. It really helped me to properly understand this. And you obviously helped a whole lot of other people too :) And everybody here should check out your website!!! Really helpful stuff on there!!!
@Gamethroughs people that needed better ways to solve problems at the time. it has been shown that people actually tend to think logarithmically naturally anyways, so i guess you made it up
hi again, Patrick! Thx for ur video! I have some question (instead I'm not in US) Here, I use different way to write it's like this : 2log8 = 3 (the number 2 using superscript, it's like 2 superscript 3 = 8) it's the same way, right?
Lol, I got here from logarithmic differentiation, man I miss the good old days... That being said I watched this whole video to refresh my memory on the subject and it was great. You helped me get a 93 on my first Calc exam. I got 5 points off for the technology part... *fail.
WOW!! this has definitely helped me! i was so confused but you make it so simple thank you!! p.s. i have an exam tomorrow! so hopefully this goes well!
Thank you :) You covered all but one of the properties I need to know. :D This helped a lot, thanks! (PS - The only one you missed is the one that says: log (base x) y = (log (y)) / (log (x))
@Rosierex96 i can help u this question,u jz follow the rule of patrickjmt from these videos,u wil get 3^2=2-x,then 9=2-x,so the ans is -7....is this esy!
I got up to answer the phone when the guy's one rang. I was rather confused until I rewound it. Anyway, great video. Made MUCH more sense than the textbook. =)
no problem, glad you like it. not everything is on my website though so you may always do a search here as well.
@whisper012 it is nice to know that some many people out there in internet land appreciate my efforts : )
thanks for the kind comments! i am glad that i was able to help you! dont stay up studying all night!!! : )
thanks for spending the time to help us understand these topics
you are sooooo good at what you do!!
"Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication"
your teacher is probably only doing what he is told to do. i encountered the same issue when i taught

THANK YOU SO MUCH! I'm a senior in high school in advanced calculus and this stuff helps me out a lot, you sir have just given me a key to salvation for the rest of the year
there are sophisticated math programs that can now do just about anything you would ever like them to, so you yes: you could use a calculator.
Wow. I just had a total revelation on how to look at logs, something that would have saved excessive frustration and difficulty. Thank you brother
Thank you so much for your videos man. Im stuck with an Asian teacher this semester who not only has a horrible accent and language barrier, but shoots through our chapters. you r a saint!!!! taking this class for the 3rd hopefully final time and neither teacher explained logs this simple!!
@UltimateAlley good luck on the tutoring; it is the best way to learn something! thanks for referring my videos as well, it is appreciated.
I just want to say how awesome your videos are. I am taking a math class online, and your videos are serving as my virtual 'classroom'

thank you so much :)
@herojha what is a log? that is the very first thing i do. what is e? it is a number: 2.71....
OMG! You just saved me! I have a huge test tomorrow and was struggling. You helped it all make sense to me. THANK YOU!!!!!
your really such a life saver... thanks for the past 3 years that u were making videos in.. I got alot of experience from it.. just watching ur examples really helps me alot .. instead of looking at the stupid algebra book which doesn't express even a single method correctly... really thank u
@Rudeka11 you are very welcome : )
what was your SAT Score Patrick. just curious
@Averageteen2 you are very welcome :)
My professor went over these really quickly because we were behind this semester. Thank you for your video.
Why couldn't you be my Advanced Functions course teacher...I seriously would have at least gotten 80-90% with the way you explain things.
Thanks a lot for making these videos. You have no idea how much they've helped me, and others as well seeing from the comment section! :)
Who has a test tomorrow :P ?

I have one in an hour :(
Dude, right here.
Sulav Pandit
I do!!! How'd you know?
Sulav Pandit me and I’m screwed
Thank you SO so MUCH for uploading these!!

@logotgr my southern accent periodically comes through in many of the videos. i try to stay pretty neutral when i make these videos for y'all.
I've been using your videos (I'm a year ahead in math) and this year I started my first year of online schooling where you basically have to teach yourself. Im a visual person and you have helped a lot! thank you!! :DD
I've been in class for over 4 months, and I finally got it with this video.
thank you so much!
i wasn't there the day we learned this, and my teacher didn't show me how to do it when i came back. she just handed me the papers.
this helped me so much ~
Thanks from Australia! Doin a business degree- havnt done maths/calcullus in high school before. Your a saviour thanks!!! Keep these vids goin mate.
wow im so thankful i found your channel, my proff makes this look 100x harder than it is. I watched this and instantly i got it
thanks!!!
Thankyou Patrick for helping clarify what I had trouble learning in class.
@kendraxiong glad i could help. learning math online is tough, imo, so good luck! come back any time :)
This really helped. I already remember these, but I was thinking way too damn much and started choking on the equations. Keep up the good work.
thank you. You have very special way of explaining things. you make math easy. Thank you
Patrick my son is also Patrick, however neither one of us good at math. I see that if I am correct all these functions have a certain formula to go by, how is one ever remember all of them? You've got really nice hands and your voice is incredibly calming. Thanks for relieving my stress with Logs :)

@hellabadasiwannabe you should probably look up what is on the g.e.d. as opposed to trusting random people on the internet. this is considered high school algebra, so i would not be shocked to see it, but i personally have no clue.
they are the same. sometimes there is more than one type of notation, this is such an example
Thanks again!!!

you are too smart, thank you for putting so much time and effort into these, they are so helpful
change of base! maybe i should make a quick vid for that, it would be easy to do!
This guy is really good,a natural tutor.
patrick do you know that u re a life saver !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! u just saved my life i have quiz on this crap and didnt even have a clue about what a logarithms is !!!!!!!! ur videos helped XD
thanks! hope the videos help!!
plan on watching most of your videos in Aug because I am starting engineering school in a month and need to brush up my math...thanks!
7:00
i think the reason why its being added when its multipled is probably because in that instance ur using laws of indices
um if i remember a^2 x a^3 = a^5
is that correct? .
I have a big test on logs and exponentials tomorrow. Thanks for the review!
Thank you for the clear refresher on logarithms- sure helped me for college chemistry and figuring pH!
Logarithms seemed so hard until i watched this, Thanks a lot Pat.
My grades had been taking a beating.
maybe not anymore ;)
I owe u one man! :D
You are awesome. You teach it in a smooth and understandable way. My math teachers mutilate this type of work.
Thank You.
Your the best calculus teacher ever. Thanks alot
Thanks you so much for the time you put into this. It really helped me to properly understand this. And you obviously helped a whole lot of other people too :)
And everybody here should check out your website!!! Really helpful stuff on there!!!
For that last step in the last question: can 2 times log 3x be written as 2log3x?
@SourSideSweetie pull it upstairs as an exponent
you r the greatest teacher i've ever seen!!@PATRICKJM!
At 9:30 couldn't you have split up the log base-3 of (y+1) into log base-3 of y + log base-3 of 1?
thanks bro, i've watched like 20 of your vids, really helped
@Gamethroughs people that needed better ways to solve problems at the time. it has been shown that people actually tend to think logarithmically naturally anyways, so i guess you made it up
How about when we have log on both sides?
@reeseleighable1 lots of math stuff here, come back and watch any time : )
hi again, Patrick! Thx for ur video!
I have some question (instead I'm not in US)
Here, I use different way to write
it's like this : 2log8 = 3 (the number 2 using superscript, it's like 2 superscript 3 = 8)
it's the same way, right?
Thank you for helping out people. May God bless you more for the things you've done freely.!
man where would i be without you :)
Lol, I got here from logarithmic differentiation, man I miss the good old days... That being said I watched this whole video to refresh my memory on the subject and it was great. You helped me get a 93 on my first Calc exam. I got 5 points off for the technology part... *fail.
oh god thank you
youtube has saved me from y math class kately, a mini lecture that you can rewind
THANK YOU!!!!
WOW!! this has definitely helped me! i was so confused but you make it so simple thank you!! p.s. i have an exam tomorrow! so hopefully this goes well!
You have made my freshman year of college alot easier :). Thank you.
Thank you :) You covered all but one of the properties I need to know. :D This helped a lot, thanks!
(PS - The only one you missed is the one that says:
log (base x) y = (log (y)) / (log (x))
Love the video!!! I need a quick refresher on this material!!! You rock!!!
i love the way you teach. you make every thing so easy. thanks alottttttttttttttt :)
this is great. all your videos are great. always just what i need to know. passed my last test with 99%, top grade in my class! woo hoo
Dude! You're actually saving me on my pre calc test. Kinda in a fun way too :).
thanks for recommending the vids. i would like to think they are not that bad : )
HI! hw wouls take logarthims of qube root 1+x to the power 5 and them kind of stuff! do you have examples explained on these topics. thnaks
@Rosierex96 i can help u this question,u jz follow the rule of patrickjmt from these videos,u wil get 3^2=2-x,then 9=2-x,so the ans is -7....is this esy!
This is such a great video, I take notes and learn. Thank you so much for the extra help, Im finally understanding logs. God bless you PatrickJMT!
I really like your videos, thanks for making them
This video is EXTREMELY helpful. Thank you.
Could log3 (y+1) be written this way as well (y+1) log3 ?
I got up to answer the phone when the guy's one rang. I was rather confused until I rewound it. Anyway, great video. Made MUCH more sense than the textbook. =)
Well done dude, wish you all the best in your future.
my 10th video of yours in the last hour. Cram study sesh with your videos. Thank you soooo much! ,
