@@QuistJam I found that now, thanks. I have been using minor pentatonic, adding M3 (as upper target from b3) for the 1 chord, and substituting the b7 for the M6 over the 4 chord (Robben Ford said this one). I only use b5 on the 1 chord.
was busy playing with some backing tracks thinking, ''wow I don't sound too bad today'' opened this video and realized I actually do sound bad after realizing what it is like to sound good
The struggle is real. Lol. But the feeling I get when I'm into it playing to a backing track even if I sound like crap. I also don't buy top notch equipment. I'll probably never play like this dude anyway. But that feeling man. Thats all that counts for me
I don´t get even close to him. But the more I practice with a backing track the more I enjoy even though it sounds really bad. But for us mere moral the most important is to enjoy music, no matter the level we are. But practicing scales in a musical way using the backing tracks is very rewarding. Let´s enjoy life and music. I am 70 and still have hope to play some blues in my life (I am actually a drummer, jazz drummer). Cheer from Brazil. Pray for us! Wish I still lived in the USA (like I did for 24 years, legally). Too old and too broke to go back!!
Don’t compare mate - you don’t play the same time, and even if you did, you’re different people. The goal is to have FUN while playing and if you think you sound good. If you keep comparing yourself to people that already won the race, you won’t even start. Just take your time and have fun with the instrument.
Honestly why the fuck are people posting backing tracks WITH A FUCKING NOODLE IN THE BEGINNIBG??! It’s not inspiring, it’s annoying af. I get sucked into THAT sound, when I could have had my own fucking sound. God damn it.
Awesome track. I couldn't hit a wrong note. Everything sounded sick. Major, Minor, Blue Note, Mixo, Dorian, Harmonic, it really didn't matter. I was just wailing.
I just found these videos I really appreciate you guys I love you guys right now! I was injured in a car accident many years ago and I lost the ability to play the way I used to so I'm trying now to relearn this reminds me of everything that's great about music guitar and the blues. 💯

Yeah yeah, I really liked this one, got a lyric blizard goin on in my head. Oh yeah! Big thumbs up n' thanks matey from this little aussie chick 😁👍NICE!
OK serious question from a serious noob. I'm a total beginner but I can run up and down the 1st position of the pentatonic ok. And sometimes throw a riff or in there if its slow enough. the question is, when the chords change, do I go and play the scale over where the root of that chord is? Like, the key is C so I start off in the Pent minor with the root at the 8th fret on the E string. cool. got that. now, the jam goes into Am7 or something. Should I then slide down to where the root is on the 5th fret and play in the Pent there because an A is being played? Because if I don't, it still kinda sounds ok but is that what I'm supposed to do? I just feel like I shouldn't be stuck in that box the whole time. Am I missing something?
Nice playing by RJ! I dig the sound of a Firebird. Would it be OK to use one of your backing tracks in a UA-cam video? My channel is not monetized or anything like that. I'd give you credit of course. Thanks. I especially love those last two. D Dorian and Slow E!!
this is great...but AGAIN, dude, the abrupt stop after I've invested almost 15 minutes of stretching out and playing some really nice shit really killed my head. Try adding a fade out or set program an outro/turnaround ...JEEZ!!!
Ok that was straight up awesome how he went in so clean and squeezed all the tone out of is hands and fingers was incredible. And the Guitar? was that a Copy? If so I want it!!!! Cant afford Johnny Winters. Great Job and thanks Quist we love you bro!!!
Not certain about the points made but ,if anyone else wants to discover jazz backing tracks try Sarparder Blues Jam Starter (should be on google have a look ) ? Ive heard some incredible things about it and my co-worker got great results with it.
Blues, soul, and r&b aren’t normally genres I listen to, but to hear the be played on guitar? Well, let’s just say that it’s what got me playing guitar in the first place, and this video is what has me subscribed ^^
Dude nice playing nice track, but when i look at you all i can see is green, got to be your favorite color plus you look like Bob Marley without dread locks lol, but all n all awsome...
thanks bro you know I look at the jamming at the start like a fellow jam partner sometimes and ponder with the words of Winston and try to play a sweet flute solo in return, thanks for making me feel cool with your backing track bro :)

I know he loves the blues and it shows, but he sure loves the greens too: green guitar, green Tee and green cap.

Sure everytime I feel like I'm getting a little better I listen to Crist or someone like this fellow and it's like..back to the drawing board!!!LOL
Those blues riffs and impro are fantastic, but when I try and solo to these backing tracks, I just seem to go up and down the pentatonic scale. ☹
