Well, that's my Saturday sorted. Close the door, fill the thermos with tea and see just how many hours it takes to nail down the pitches on Jason's licks on my Lee Oskar in C.
i have been playing blues guitar for 54 years now, and I normally dont care for harp, its easy to overdose on. But this guy brings a fresh feel to the instrument. He plays scales that are really tasteful instead of just riffing up and down the holes, and it sounds really good. And Mr Quist, Ive been meaning to tell you this. With all the insane guitar talent out there today, you stand out because you really feel it. Your taste and touch are superb. You possess that intangible soul aspect that so many players just dont get. Shredding is mindless finger exercises, real music comes from the heart. It took me years to figure out that restraint is the holy grail, and its much harder to develop than furious scales. Keep up the good work.
I love that little gleeful look on your face man as you know you've pulled off some superbly tuneful licks loving it I'm ripping your licks off left right and centre L&R Craig UK. *People if you want a teacher he's your man *
DUDE, YOU DID IT! A for CREATIVITY!!! I love it! This is SUCH A GREAT IDEA dont stop at Harmonica. People playing sax, flute, bells and etc..... You opened it up! I salute you as an ARTIST SIR and BLUES LOVER!!!
Of all the tracks in all the gin joints, I think this particular one here is my favorite. My Les Paul & Marshall DSL on the lead channel, just a little gain but not a whole lot, and man the blues just comes out that's really beyond my capability. It just hits something magic. Thanks for this one, and all of them, man.
So many claim to play electric guitar blues . Lots of times I just sigh. This track is electric guitar blues sound to me . I can get in this very bluesy groove and have a great time ! It's a Gem !!! 😎😎😎
Mr Quist: I love your jam. I was looking for play hamoníc. And found your Jam with solo from Jason. Amazing!!! Could be possible to get harp tablature please?
Mr quist, namaste from India! I enjoy playing on all your tracks. They are so moving. On this track when I play all the sevenths ie D7, G7 and A7 and I connect all the notes , I get quite a different scale! I really enjoy this scale..it's like one endless melody almost raaga like..I might be losing the blues touch here
Quist, I want thank you for the amazing Blues and rock music you have been producing and delivering to people who just need that little help behind they're playing to take them to new levels you've helped me out a bunch thank you
I'm a little rusty on my theory. I can play D major Blues/Penta over the 1 chord so I get that major 3rd. Then play Dminor Penta/D Dorian because Dorian contains the major 3rd of G for the IV and G is in D minor? then still play Dorian over the five and use the 12th (4th) of A for color to imply major?
Thanks Jase.... Your opening lick has totally demoralised me and I can't go any further 'til I've worked out just what you're doing there! You never cease to blow me away! How's the cat?
Hi Quist, you are not just a great guitar player, your backing tracks are among the best you can find in this area on UA-cam. I hope it is ok for you that I improvise about your backing tracks and sometimes upload the result. Thanks for all the great tracks!
Dear Jason I am from South Africa. I was born here, sadly. I say sadly because there is nothing here in terms of the blues. Nothing. No blues clubs. No blues bars. nothing. Its all rap and hip hop here...its just not the blues if you know what i mean. Its really lonely out here with nobody to share the blues with. What I wouldn't give to be able to visit a blues bar or club... This track is certainly fantastic...thanks for taking the time to share your skills with us all. Any suggestions on how to improve my playing in a country where people only care about money, rap and hip hop? I sure could use a mentor of some sort...but thats not possible here. Would sure be awesome to practice and learn from others who play the blues too... I doubt you will get to read this...but just by writing this...I feel somehow less isolated... Kind regards Brandon
Love your tracks. I saw Jason at the Ring Side Cafe in St Pete Fl about 11 years ago. I had no clue who he was. He murdered that room! One of the all time best sets I have ever seen at Ring Side in 20+ years.
I was inspired by the look on your face at the conclusion of your solo intro .. . . "Go ahead your turn to jam out" . .. very cool ;) The world needs many more musicians.
Thanks! Have known of Jason for a long time, he's worked really hard for a really long time.... a true virtuoso in my opinion. He's consistently voted into the top 10 of greatest Blues harmonica players... and for a reason :)
Great track. I'm just learning my theory (finally!) and your suggestions regarding the scales is very helpful both in checking my theory and expanding it and forcing me to experiment on the edge of my comfort zone (the only place we learn.)! Thanks!

Your epic track / Jason's epic harp... Match made in heaven. That was highly inspirational.
Nice. I'll probably just do piano over this. Then I'll play my accoustic over it .lots of possibilities.
Great 3rd position for harp! Thank you Quist & Jason...love it

Am I crazy or the first lick on harmônica solo (2 bars ) is the same as metallica’s the unforgiven main solo????
