Taking this 406 from my work from my dealership for a test drive, this car was actually for sale and it drives very well, it was fun to drive, smooth and comfy and a very reliable engine.
This car has around 326000kms, has you can expect this engine is very strong and reliable, stock engine of course!

This is probably the only modernish Peugeot I would own ( and ofcourse the 205 which is the best Peugeot ever made)
I have the same car, same model, same engine. 348'600 km, and it's still running very well with a very low consumption (5,2 l/100km in average roads).
As you can hear on the video, the engine is VERY silent.
Can you help me i got the car not a while a go and is it safe to drive 60 km/h in 4th gear or should i stick to 3rd its all flat ground and i cant feel the engins lugging its just that the whole engine has kinda low torque so maybe thats the thing thats putting me off, thanks

Très jolie voiture que j'apprécie particulièrement par son style et sa couleur, la 406 phase 2 a clairement été une réussite il y a plusieurs années. Elle a l'air de rouler particulièrement bien cette 406 de couleur gris château pour son âge de 20 ans et son année elle est encore au gout du jour aujourd'hui je trouve. J'ai posséder la même pendant 9 ans de même couleur, finition, année sauf le moteur que je posséder le 2.0 hdi 110 cv la mienne était d'avril 1999, je l'ai gardé de 2000 a 2009 pour avoir fait 300 000 kms à son bord un pur bonheur et il y a 10 ans j'ai craqué pour sa remplaçante qui était la Peugeot 407 j'ai donc acheté une 407 berline phase 1 de 2005 à qui j'ai fais 165 000 kms a son bord et dont je possède toujours une parfaite voiture aussi en 2.0 hdi 136 cv de 2005. Bref superbe vidéo j'ai bien aimé j'encourage pour la suite pour des pov drive de Peugeot particulièrement et Citroen je suis fan PSA. Je like et je m'abonne, n'hésitez pas à aller jeter un coup d'œil sur ma chaine UA-cam et à faire de même si vous le souhaitez ;-)
J'ai possédé aussi une 406 pendant 5 ans, une ph2 de 2001 en 2.0 HDi 110 en bleu samarkand finition ST à l'origine. Elle avait 250000kms quand je l'ai acheté en 2012 et vendu à mon frère en 2017 avec 380000kms, remplacée par une 407 coupé 2.2 essence qui elle même fut remplacée depuis l'été dernier par la dernière 308.
J'ai énormément aimé la 406, ma première Peugeot, que j'ai pris plaisir à améliorer niveau équipement en y rajoutant les jantes alu 16 ouragan ; attelage ; lave phares ; intérieur semi cuir électrique ; régulateur de vitesse ; compteurs 5 cadrans ; console centrale cuir ; rétros rabattable électriquement etc .. même l'autoradio était resté d'origine pour ne pas casser la ligne du tableau de bord, j'utilisais un boitier usb pour écouter mes musiques. Bref elle était superbe, mon frère l'a revendu depuis, je la regrette j'aurai dû la garder.
Niveau mécanique rien à dire, je faisais la majorité de l'entretien moi même ou avec un ami.
C'était la dernière Peugeot fiable en tout point. La 407 coupé j'ai eu plusieurs capteurs HS mais niveau moteur elle était fiable et Peugeot me l'a repris avec 194000kms.
Maintenant je profite de la 308 en espérant qu'elle va me satisfaire car la 406 m'a vraiment fait aimer la marque.
Génial je suis d’accord avec toi nous de base on devait avoir la st mais on a pris une exécutive et la 407 j’aime bien aussi je m’en plein pas, prochaine étape pour moi la 508 👍🏻👍🏻

Ça fait plaisir de voir des véhicules , surtout en essence, avec de tels kilométrages qui sont encore propres et visiblement en parfait état de fonctionnement, l'entretien ainsi que la conduite y sont pour beaucoup. J'ai une 206+ 1.1 de 2010, avec 106 000 km, et toujours en parfait état (après elle est plus récente aussi). Je prévois de changer très prochainement pour une Fiat Tipo 1.4 neuve, j'attends la réouverture du concessionnaire Fiat le plus proche pour passer commande. Et avec celle-ci, objectif 300 000 km minimum !

well, i will explain to you why. Peugeot started selling its cars in brazil in the 90s (shortly after the reopening of imports that had been banned since 1976). as their cars were not common here in the country (literally before the imports they only had vw´s, opel´s with the chevrolet logo, ford´s fiat (only uno and 147 with its derivatives). as they were imported cars the maintenance was difficult , a few years after the car had already been bought zero, and the price fell because of that, people without knowing the car bought it thinking that the maintenance would be of the same level as a popular one and ended up with damage. of the 3 french brands only renault has a good reputation, peugeot and citroen are playing hard in advertising to demonstrate that their cars are good.the brazilian people are kind of dumb with a car, to have an idea, in the 70.80s the brazilian only bought 2 door sedans because he thought safer and easier to fix (in addition to considering a 4-door car a bit of a taxi driver).

Nice car. I drive a 405 and I can clearly hear the noise level of both cars is similar, as opposed to the 407. I noticed that test drive was noticeably quieter.

Should i buy a used 406 as my first car? any other recommendations?
In my opinion diesel engine are more reliable and more efficient than the petrols ones, those cars are very solid overrall so it could a good car as a first car 😁😉
I want to say a tip, the first car must be 5 years old or 6 because the older ones cause more problems and are not as good as the 5 or 6 year old cars I mean for the first car. So the 5 year old car to get or at most 6. I'm just saying a tip. Thanks for having a wonderful day!!!😁😉👍

I have 2002 2.0HDI and it's not bad car
I had the same car in 2006. It was ok until the clutch died and it was too expensive to replace it considering the car value.
I always read such comments : " too expensive considering the car value" . However doesn't this "too expensive" spares you from buying another car??? 7 years old is nothning for a car. All cars that I had ( bought 2 nd hand) , I drove them until they reached 15 yo minimum.

Airback cables are connected by connector cube under passenger chair, when this chair is moved to the back it is unplugging or it is pugged too light(due to factory error or material fatigue) and it is not working. Basically you need to put chair closer to dashboard to make it stop

My dad had one a 1997 the reason why he can shift so early is very high torque from a 1.8 he always used to comment how much torque they had. Of course as a 10 year old i didn't no what he meant i do now

Why do you shift gears very early ? You damage the car this way
6 months late but nonetheless I want to say that that is not true at all. Shifting early conserves fuel and is how one should drive a manual when not going fast. I have a feeling you have never driven a manual before...
