I think the big problem is that the V6 car is a different kind of car altogether. "Muscle Car" people will always want the V8. The V6 car is a really good V6 sports car in its own right. By the numbers it is pretty close to an FD RX7 performance wise, but it has 4 seats and has a convertible version. It's engine likely won't need rebuilt every 50k miles either. From what I see a simple tune gains 20+ whp. People are spoiled today... The year I graduated HS the Corvette had just got a new 300hp engine. This V6 puts that engine to shame. Go look up the lap times for the V6 1LE. It is seriously fast. I don't dislike the sound of an LS V8, but it almost sounds lazy and boring compared to the high revving V6. I'm sure I'll get flamed for this, but I prefer the sound of the V6. I owned a 95, 97, and 98 Z28. This V6 sounds meaner, is faster, and handles better than those cars. What's not to like? If you want the V8 then get it, but the V6 is not just a price decision. Its a better choice for some people. That's pretty cool. Nice job GM.
well the ls engine is a truck engine, and well truck sounds don't not belong in sports car. This is why in terms of sound i prefer the coyote engine over the ls
They should have a smaller 3-box chassis around 3000 lbs to put this engine in, and tune it like an Alfa (fat chance with GM), and then it can claim to be a legit sports car. More to the point, a legit PONY car(other than the straight six per OG mustang), and not a V8 muscle car.
well, the camaro is now the lightest of the pony cars seeing as the mustang is now heavier, it would be interesting if you ever made a small FRS fighter with the 3.6L, but the market is very small for that so i doubt it will happen.
um, the FRS is pretty much the only car in its little niche of cheap, RWD, sub compact sized sports cars... the 370Z is not nearly as small as a FRS nor is the M2 keep in mind the BRZ is a whole 4 inches narrower and 4+ inches shorter thats dramatically smaller than a 370Z. #Facts #LearnMore
I like how the engine sounds now. I think that a japanese-sounding V6 hasn't got any place in an American sports/pony/muscle car, like the previous gen Camaro.
ironically, the old v6's were pushrod engines, American designs through and through. I believe this is an OHC style engine, which Japanese manufacturers have been making since the 90's.
Hi Hooniverse, it's obvious that you make very high quality videos and I think you deserve more subs. I think one reason you don't have that many views is that your review of a certain model is usually posted later than many reviews of the same/similar model. This makes your reviews less likely to be noticed. Try reviewing a model right after it comes out/refreshed. And I also think you can be more emotional or enthusiastic in your reviews. Vehicle Virgins is a great example of this. Try to be funnier as well. Just my two cents :) keep up with the good work!
Short answer to your question, no. The whole reason you tolerate the low rent materials and Barris gaudy styling is for the power underhood. Without that, all you have is a stunning array of incongruent shapes.
I bought a 2016 Camaro RS , 1lt , for $26k I think that's a fair price for that car, I'm only 16 starting of with the V6 hoping to get an SS in the future or even a C7 stingray (: no not my parents money I'm still in school with a job paying for my own car
“ I’m an idiot, I would want the V8” Wow that really sums up most V8 heads LOL. Also, the V6 car is like 400 pounds lighter. The handling is no comparison.
I had a 2012 V6 Challenger for 3 years, most of the time spending telling myself and those who asked that a V6 is a great sounding and economical engine with more than enough power. Than I switched to a less powerful, less economic, 5 years older Mustang V8 and found myself smiling each and every minute each day from the moment I turned the key. Bottom line: Sorry to say, but forget about V6 if you are just a tiny little bit into engine sounds and muscle cars.
Two things: 1. the price? a little bit too high 2. like someone else has mentioned, if it didn't have the "Camaro" or the "it needs a V8" mentality, it would have sold more
That’s the thing mustang and Camaro isn’t a pure muscle car. It’s a pony car. The only true muscle car is the challenger. V6 is good for most people. V8 isn’t necessary unless you gonna take it on the track. Idk why people hate in the v6 so much. It’s enough for the average person. Better in gas. Less maintenance and takes regular gas perfect cruiser
Should have mentioned that the V6 is lighter as a coupe. Convertibles are out of the nature of the Camaro just as much as the V6. Way too much weight added to this new, lighter chassis. Not worth it.
v8 is nice and ive had 2 but I got a v6 because of stop and go traffic. If you live where there is open roads and u can burn the gas actually driving then V8 all day but I live in charlotte nc and w watching the needle move just sitting there made me cringe especially after a long day and I just want to accelerate a bit. Only downfall in my opinion but this is a really nice car!!!
Lol, the LGX doesn't make more hp than the LS1. 335 hp is impressive for a V6, and perhaps the next revision will finally overtake the Legendary V8 of nearly two decades, but the LS1's output is 350 hp (downrated solely on paper for the F-body so as not to compete with the 'vette).
Well let's see. Compare to the SS it's more reliable, better gas mileage, less in car insurance. It's way better overall. Considering the price most likely it will be a daily driver. So at 323hp is plenty enough power to get out of any situation that comes up. Bottom line it's all about the money you can get where your going with a V6 just as easily as a V8. Is that San Marcos Pass off the 101?
Cabriolet Camaro is beautiful. Quarter panel on the coupe is too ugly in my opinion because too sharp corner on the end. Looks like a triangle. It's a big disadvantage for the designer.
the only way to fix the Camaro v6 problem is to not name it Camaro. make only v8 Camaros and call the V6 and 4t a malibu coupe or something else. give camaro 2 v8s. 5.3 and 6.2 then no more v8 debate over the v6. and for those V8 boys that hate on the v6, why get a v8 camaro? i rather buy a C7 Corvette if i want v8 power or a scatpack challenger(only real muscle car left)
Why does everything have to be considered click-bait? Also, why is click bait necessarily a bad thing? It doesn't have to be. We pose a question that piques your interest and then we provide our viewpoint on the matter. This isn't "10 REASONS WHY THE V6 IS BETTER THAN THE V8 AND THE LAST ONE WILL BLOW YOUR MIND!!!11!!" We prefer the V8. The V6 is so much better than it used to be. I believe even Motor Trend is saying that V6 1LE version is pretty damn shocking in how good it is. The V6 can be good without taking anything away from the V8...
The Hooniverse Don't take it personally. The title IS clickbait (a clickbait title is any title that asks a question which requires one to watch/read their content to find out the answer), but I still love your content. Clickbait is a bad thing because it allows content producers to become lax with their content and rely on titles like this to draw in views. It's journalistic laziness, and it's a slippery slope (even in cases like yours, where your content is still high-quality, it's still promoting negative journalistic tendencies). As for the V6, the simple fact is that the Camaro is a muscle car and it's meant to have a V8. It's meant to have V8 power, smoothness, and sound. A V6 Camaro will ALWAYS be nothing more than a rental car, woman's car, or poser car; regardless of how well it performs.
The V6 is fantastic. It's got a lot of power (albeit not a ton of torque) and makes great sound for the money (and $800 option). For regular white collar guys like me, the V6 Camaro is the answer if MX-5 or Fiat 124 is not "manly" enough.
I think the big problem is that the V6 car is a different kind of car altogether. "Muscle Car" people will always want the V8. The V6 car is a really good V6 sports car in its own right. I think it's comparable to a bmw e46 m3, so I'm hoping to buy one
It is ....I love my 2018 by rs npp its perfect...
Just bought an RS 2 LT. I love it. Love the sound and the power of the 3.6.
@@jeffcharlton9660 never gets tierd....just rock it..
Not gonna lie, this is a good car. If it weren't a Camaro (removing the 'it needs a V8 sound' thing), this would sell like hot cakes.
V 6 is just fine
How does Hooniverse have less than 30,000 subs? The quality of your vids are insane.
meanwhile doucheballs like shmee and seenthruass get clicks to the moon. persistence and marketing, i guess.
Thanks. We're working on climbing that subscriber ladder... but organically, without paid subs and all that crap. -JG
shaft9000 so true add VehicleVirg on that horrible list of paid subscribers. This was another great review
I think the same thing every time I watch one of their videos,
That exhaust comparison was great.
wow, 7200 RPM 3.6L LGX V6 really sounds amazing for a V6. well done chevy, but still would take the V8.
Agree

more like a 370Z and small BMW fighter, but yeah: tiny market

Bought my 2017 Coupe V6 two weeks ago. Love it!
To the "chrome glove box" reference I believe he means that the reflection would allow you to see your passenger... yep
I like how the engine sounds now. I think that a japanese-sounding V6 hasn't got any place in an American sports/pony/muscle car, like the previous gen Camaro.

Amazing quality video gents, keep it up
I'd love to get a V6 1LE coupe. I believe you can make the V6 faster for less than the price difference between it and the V8.
i have a v6 1le and its awesome
Ima get this car in the next several months after i trade in my current 5th gen camaro 1lt.
Hi Hooniverse, it's obvious that you make very high quality videos and I think you deserve more subs. 5:32 it doesn't start at $36,000 for the 4 cylinder turbo base model. It starts at $26,000 for that car. Just in case you'd like to edit the video.
That's only for the coupe. He means the convertible starts at that
The standard top with the manual is actually very fun to drive.
quality review if i say so myself
I have about 30 days before I get one an I'm stuck between this or the turbo I'm gonna test drive them both on the same day an see what feels better
we need the 5.3 in the camaro
Short answer to your question, no. The whole reason you tolerate the low rent materials and Barris gaudy styling is for the power underhood. Without that, all you have is a stunning array of incongruent shapes.

Its a pretty awesome car to start out with and that's a good plan. That's what I am doing too. Also nice job on paying for your own car!
SS Lozano from the dealership ??
Looks like this will be a fun rental car too bad none will be spec'd with the dual mode exhaust
“ I’m an idiot, I would want the V8”
Wow that really sums up most V8 heads LOL.

The world famous "Camero" shirt.
BigJayDog g it was a must have purchase
Jason Connor @TerminatorConn You've reminded me I want one so I can be that guy at my local C&C.
LMAO that shirt bro

The auto bangs pretty hard
What's the name of this color
can you do a headers tune ?

I'm just waiting for hellcat chargers to become 3rd owner cars
seeing as the V6 camaro came with in 3- 4 tenths of a second on a few tracks of the hellcat thats pretty sad.
justin bouche it was a zl1 manual and manual, the hellcat was auto so the zl1 would have won if they both had the same transmission
what?
its not fair, u cry the whole video about v8 and you dont mention fuel effiency?
Why the hell is this car going for 47k? lmao. My '15 was 20k with 25k miles.
Everything is expensive these days. My 3lt convertable was 41 thousand with a discount code
the only way to fix the Camaro v6 problem is to not name it Camaro. make only v8 Camaros and call the V6 and 4t a malibu coupe or something else. give camaro 2 v8s. 5.3 and 6.2 then no more v8 debate over the v6. and for those V8 boys that hate on the v6, why get a v8 camaro? i rather buy a C7 Corvette if i want v8 power or a scatpack challenger(only real muscle car left)
Do NOT get that white interior my 2013 has it and it stains way too easily
Great Car, but if Your shopping for a V6 Camaro You want bang for buck. If Your spending 40 grand why not get a SS.
The reason why car prices are way up is because inflation. $1,000,000 in 2016 is only $317,000 in 1980's money. It suuucks
geekphreak ?

The answer to your clickbait-title-question is "no."
Why does everything have to be considered click-bait? Also, why is click bait necessarily a bad thing? It doesn't have to be.
We pose a question that piques your interest and then we provide our viewpoint on the matter. This isn't "10 REASONS WHY THE V6 IS BETTER THAN THE V8 AND THE LAST ONE WILL BLOW YOUR MIND!!!11!!"
We prefer the V8. The V6 is so much better than it used to be. I believe even Motor Trend is saying that V6 1LE version is pretty damn shocking in how good it is.
The V6 can be good without taking anything away from the V8...
The Hooniverse don't fall for this assholes, keep the great content
V6 is enough. One of my friend has an ATS V6, the brother of this car and its very impressive and i would be happy with that for sure.
The Hooniverse Don't take it personally. The title IS clickbait (a clickbait title is any title that asks a question which requires one to watch/read their content to find out the answer), but I still love your content.
