15 year veteran of the Train simulation community here.
I’ve played Trainz, Railworks, MSTS, Open Rails, and even Run-8.
All I want to say is that I literally screamed out loud “OH MY GOD!” when I saw the snowplough actually moving snow off the tracks.
Seriously you have no idea how long this has been something we’ve been asking for in the community… people were asking for snow simulation before I even started my journey, and that was in 2009...

How about Derail Valley or Railway Empire? Hearing Century of Steam is a "physics based" strategy game, makes me think of a combination of those two, which would be very interesting.
I said it before, but that opening chime whistle makes my blood run cold. This has been a long time in the making, and it deserves every ounce of recognition.
(My only question though, is the F key going to be for “Drink Whiskey”, “Light Cigar”, or “Throw Timetable at Yardmaster”?)

For this to pass the Hyce sniff test, I know it will be an AWESOME game. Accurate valve gear and game play. I did recognize Lizard Head there so I assume the map / territory will be relatively vast. I would love to know more. Will it be a game where you build your own track? Will you have plenty of industries? Will you have passengers demanding transportation to new depots? Will you have explody bois?
Track building, yes. Industry list TBD, but you can bet there'll be plenty of things to do. Passenger trains yes. I am lobbying for explody bois... we shall see. :)

This was all captured in game footage with in game camera with standard capture software. Yeah, Hyce’s friend made the train game on roblox and I instantly bought it (around $4) even without knowing the content of it. It is pretty cool but this game is a whole new level. I am just hoping we don’t get $500 in dlcs
One of my close friends is a 3D modeler for this game, and let me tell you he was OBSESSIVE over the details. I’m not super into trains as much but I’m hyped nonetheless because it really shows how passionate you guys are about this game. Wishing you all the best!

Congratulations! This is a big deal. You did a good job of keeping this secret. Really good trailer/teaser. Glad to see some marine steam too.
If it's allowed, I would like to make a suggestion if it is even possible. Build-a-train. From wheel and cylinder diameter, to wheel spacing, and even driving rod attachment locations. Being able to build your own engine within design perimeters would be huge.
Sprocket for steam engines, basically.
@@AustinLeeds Yes, have limits set so you don't have engines with a 20ft long cylinder, but you can have slightly oversized cylinders on a relatively small engine with the connecting rod bearings nearly on the edge of the drivers. Massive amount of power on a small tank engine.
It probably could be like Automation for BMG drive.
What they could end up doing is have the player be able to order locomotives out of a catalog just like the railroads had to do back in the day. If you want a custom locomotive it's going to be more than the stock off the shelf model.
While that would be very cool I'd say that's almost a whole other game in terms of development workload- it is unbelievable how much work has to go into making things like that work in a sensible way

Hyce, just in the trailer you have several of my favorite train topics and wishes for games! Polling! Whistle echoes! Tunnels! Can't imagine the other fun bits with true railroad feel!

I watched the trailer on Steam once and was at a loss for words. This is by far one of the best train games I have seen since the cluster that was Railroads Online! I am definitely wish listing it as soon as I get a Steam account and personal computer!

Sorry, but I kinda hope that it doesn't come to consoles. Not that I want you to miss out or anything, but every game up til now that has had a console version, has been dumbed down and restricted to appease console players. There are certain genres that are fine with console versions, but simulators aren't one of them

So, coincidentally, while me and a few friends were playing Loco Shortline Operations one of my friends mentioned Century of Steam and it caught my interest. All of us met up through Railroads Online but left because the dev was not the best (behind us now though, but we most likely will never return to it) but the three of us still love our train games. We played Void Train Loco Shortline (which we are still playing, and will be for a while). When Century of Steam comes out I bet the three of us will be playing (and maybe more. We had a large RRO multiplayer server (one of the biggest and most active at the time)). I hope this game becomes popular because I do want to play with everyone from the old server again like we used to, but nobody plays the same games besides the one that nobody plays anymore so we are all just sitting in a discord together with little interaction. (Sorry for rambling, it was unintentional but I won’t remove any of the comment).
Imagine just making a whole studio because all other train games (cough cough RRO) are bad. Huge "Fine I'll do it myself" energy 😂😂
As all another train games (like Trainz, TSC or TSW) are bad, we're just gonna make one more! Again without mods and with very specific era and region. Good luck.

Love it, also glad it has diesel/electric locos in it as well, when I first saw the name I assumed it was steam only, not that that would have been a bad thing!
Century of Steam refers to an era, 1869-1969. Anything within that range is fair game, and diesels are part of the narrow gauge story we want to tell.
there are so many promising games releasing in the genre this year!
"Build your route" That makes me honestly really hyped because it makes me think of an old train game I used to play I can't even remember the name of anymore, where I'd design my own hills, trees, and so on, on a rather small map.

I have played run8 and this doesn’t even compare keep up the great work.. btw interb is a dead place now…. The round house is a ghost town!

Studio 346 really showed us a Class 125 over half a year before Railroads Online even said "hey we're finally adding this locomotive". I have a big, dumb smile on my face.
Hyce, Ive been a long time fan of railroad equipment from the 1800s. this trailer made me tear up and smile and i cant wait to get my hands on it. You will forever be my hero for this

The game actually will allow you to buy a generic loco model, and then modify it to your pleasure, so you can make historic prototypes, or make something all your own.

Bro this looks so epic I had to back up and play this trailer twice! Ok 3 1/2 times … ok the half is for one part… but omg the tiny details !! 😮 even the poling pockets!! You mean I get to do the thing ! Having equipment at my railroad with old poling pockets and seeing it used is just too cool not to mention your reporting mark on the flat cars !!

You can tell how much care went into this by the little details, how the steams slows as the whistle valve closes instead of cutting off. The fabulous whistles with echo. This game is going to KICK ASS!
