Just bought mine. Loud as hell (i set volume to 3/10 in rehearsal situation), equipped with both crystal clear and caveman-dirty sounds. Perfect amp for pick users.
3 years ago: I sold my OB-1 500, then bought The Bass Butler, sold Butler to buy a Bass Terror MK 1, sold Bass Terror, bought OB-300. Selling OB-1 500 was a mistake.
The predecessor of these amps, the OB-1K, was never released so I'm glad Orange repackaged them in a different box. Much more affordable than the intended price of the OB-1K and still sounds as great! Although as a fellow Star Wars geek I would have put a sticker or sharpied "enobi" on that bass head. :D
I'd like to hear it in a live band setting to see how it sits in the mix. That seems like that's a lot of frequecy range encroaching in the guitarists' territory.
I really get that bass amps with built in OD are cool. Who wouldn't love that? But why does every demo of this amp focus on that aspect. More often than not, you're going to be using it a lot cleaner, so why not give a better overview of clean tones?
Over driven or fuzz bass sounds like ass. Never could stand it. Natural overdrive from a large headroom amp being over driven might sound all right but it's a totally different sound. Geddy Lee had a touch of it going on, but he still had enough clear tone going on with it, too.
you prolly dont give a shit but if you're bored like me atm you can stream all the latest movies and series on InstaFlixxer. I've been watching with my gf these days :)
Is love to see a review of the Tech21 Dug 1000 amp. Same basic concept with a few more features. I have a suspicion that this sounds better, but the tech21 is more versatile.
Buskin Kef Overdriven bass rarely has any bottom end, no. The trick is to split the signal and keep the low end clean or use a overdrive that does this for you. This was not something they had done with this demo..
@@girmonsproductions I can’t tell you what settings and amps would be ideal for every situation. Just that the Orange amp sounded terrible. On its own it sounded sort of cool but with a band it was missing a fullness. Everyone noticed it. I brought it to one gig where I let other people use it and they also hated it. I remember I went out to the parking lot across the street and I could hear that stupid honking sound. I traded it in at a loss just to be rid of it.
@@girmonsproductions it’s hard to describe the sound. The bass wasn’t right, the mids have no frequency control, the treble wasn’t right, the distortion is fizzy and has no touch sensitivity. Totally disappointing. Also the amp has no preamp in so you can’t just use it as a cool looking power amp. It’s a dud all around.
@@grisbain what cab were you using? I use the crush bass 100 which was 1x15" speaker but I need more watts than 100 so I'm looking where I should go next. I'm also considering Fender Rumble 500.

I've never been a big relic fan, but that bass is really doin it for me

MisterJawaman hey so the ob1k was never released?
I'd like to hear it with a guitar plugged in.

Now that was a great review.

Doesn't OB it stand for "Orange Bass" ?

I completely agree with you, I'm interested but I probably don't want the OD all the time
There's no effects loop?
That amp has an awesome DOOM tone! But it needs an Effects Loop.
Sleeping Turtle amen
The amp sounds like fun but that is one of the coolest looking basses I've ever seen. Talk about mojo.

@Abram Alvaro Yup, I have been using InstaFlixxer for years myself :D
@Abram Alvaro Yea, I've been using instaflixxer for since november myself =)
Orange makes great gear!
Dream bass amp.. Too bad I blow all my money on guitar gear...
Justin Gaede i feel the same way.
Steve Cook put that bass together about 10 years ago. I love that bass! Also, the Cotillion shirt! If you know, you know....coolest venue in Kansas!
For Bass Orange is the best...... two sounds clean and overdrive..... all you need 👍

This amp sounds nothing like it sounds in this video.
Were you guys recording the DI output or something similar ?
He says he's using the d.i as the signal chain.
really? I own this and get tones like that for sure
Sounds fantastic!
shit, that amp is brutal
Amazing Pbass man, who is it please ? Amazing.. really...
truly a bad ass amp pair this with a Dean Zelinsky ZGlide Bass and you can rock the casbah
Steve, what is that bass? Do tell! Looks awesome. Is it a FCS Bass?
will this sound awesome on my 8x10 Ampeg?
I demand answers!
Sleazy Cortez - Hell yes. Orange head and Ampeg 8x10 get along just fine.
What a pretty bass...
You uhh .. ever wanna sell that bass..
Hey man! Release that "Active/Passive" button!!! (Isn't your P Bass passive?)
was it just me or did it sound like it had no bottom end to the sound?

+Tung Tobak if you roll of on the blend, you will get alot more of that clean low end, all tho poorly show'n in this video
I've played one, mate. It's just you...
These amps sound great solo but awful in a mix with a band. I regret buying one.
why so? what kind of amp or settings would be good in a band?

@@girmonsproductions I play Traynor Monoblock II amps into Ampeg 8x10 cabs. I have used Fender Rumbles and I think they are decent.
Terrible tone and demo. Try dialing in a sound you would actually use in a band
