13:10 Master duel is the future. It's convenient , you don't have to physically travel somewhere to play. You don't have to drop 100s just to play and you can choose when to play. Also the game knows what the cards do and how they interact so no cheating.
You have no idea how expensive the game has been for players in South America like me. Just to give you some context, a playset of Fuwaross costs around 2 months of rent for my apartment... let that sink in.
I'm in Mexico and it's about the same. Even then we have some weirdos who are willing to pay the money. I have the money but there is no way I'm paying that for cardboard.

in master duel the name on the card doesnt matter, its always 30 cp. people also complain its too expensive and thats good, but compared to other games like this its actually fair. if you play events, that is.
Ye, I love master duel. The fact you even have a chance to compete just by playing online makes it very open to the people who enjoy Yu-gi but don’t have the time/money for in-person events/cards

I have spent a total of 0 $ in md , and i own close to 20 high rarity decks . I've been grinding the game since it launched and i've been able to craft any deck i wanted to .
The only problem with the 30 dust mechanic is that, simply put, not all cards are created equal. It's silly that I need to spend 30 UR on a mid-card in a shit deck (like any watt synchro, for example), while it costs the same amount of UR dust for a staple i'd use in 80% of my decks. I find myself cheated in the former situation and the latter, because on the one hand, I'm spending my hard-earned points on garbage, and on the other, I feel like I'm paying a UR tax just so I have a better chance to win the average ranked game. It's a flawed system, but I do agree that it has significant upsides.

At this point, it feels like komoney basically treats its (western) customers like addicts, who will put up with absolutely anything, because they just are addicted to the game and pulling shiny cardboard. They probably actually think, by shortprinting every worthwhile card, their addict-customers just buy three times the number of product. They've long give up on the game and getting new players or just getting the loads of casual players to return to the game, and will just continue to milk their hardcore-fanbase. Just a question of how long it will take, till they burn out as well.
Well, you literaly say it: You were ok paying €100 for a staple like SP, and like you many people did. This basically told Konami that their players are fine paying for expensive staplers and that they can keep pushing it. I guess it took a €130 nerfed Maxx C to wake up.
I get it, what konami has done to the tcg player base in the last 6 months is insane - its like they want people to stop playing... and it has reached a point were I am just fked up with it - people do what ever, but having to spend 250~ for Fiendsmith and now being asked to spend 400~ for Mid C... while banning all the staples people either just got or others bought for good money before hand... So your existing cards are either worth less then before or unusable and you gotta buy some 7 main deck and 2 extra deck cards for 700€ excluding anything else...like the dominus impulse for an additional 150. And fully knowing that as always you will lose that value in at least half a year or so... not arguing for ygo as an investment but if you spend such summs to have them be deleted is not helping with a "positive" expenditure decision.
I dont think there is anything to support or defend anymore...Konami has been shitting their western player base since fucking decades, and this just the last iteration of it (not too different to Fiendsmith, Snake-Eyes, SP, etc..)....However, despite all the hate from some vocal minority, I think the card is okay....In fact, I would argue that Mulcharmy Fuwalos is exactly what this game needs to stop being a fucking coin flip simulator or solitaire (which based on the WC results, it really is, and not even Maxx-C fixes it), but yeah...making it a secret was such a d1ck move that they really can't be forgiven...But that's where MD helps....I'm looking forwards to them banning Maxx-C in MD, so we can actually have a going second option in the game...
The game itself is still too fast, even with a gimped Maxx C. There's a reason why other card games have checks and balances in this regard. There's a reason why a lot of them function the same. Yugioh's uniqueness is the thing that brings it down.
Thank god i'm designing my homebrew format with budget in mind. I couldn't imagine expecting people to go out and buy a 600 dollar playset. Engraver, SP and even Wanted & Bonfire were already too much. Hell, SP is only back to its day-one price.
These cards being mandatory is also part of the problem. If there wouldnt be cards that need to be played in any and all decks this wouldnt be an issue.

This thing should’ve been like a common or super, they reprint it as a QcR in Bonanza or something as another chase card.
My guess: Konami does not care about the physical card game. MD is by far the biggest format and make the most money. TCG is only squeezing out money of the remained players. Look at the banlists. Konami actually address the problem cards in MD(first slightly, after 3 months more impactful). It’s the future of this game. Most of the TCG-players I know already switched to magic.
Developer greed is exactly why I stopped playing MtG and the viable card pool is much narrower and more expensive, so it's kind of a wash. Wanna take bets on when they'll come back?

That's how it's 'free" because every new account offloads a ton of free gems at the beginning so people get multiple free decks by making multiple accounts so they guy is half true. Too much work just to avoid not spending any money for me. I don't mind buy gem packs because I get better value from pulls, I am not buying physical anymore, and the crafting system makes it easier to get the cards I need.
Honestly I'm just going to stick to speed duel format for awhile since that format is slower and has a lower power level. I know it's not really supported by Konami anymore, but it's a format me and my friends really enjoy playing together. Screw the TCG.

Honestly this is why I play Boss Monster format. The extra Deck can only be archetype and no hand traps are allowed. It makes things a lot better than this trash current format.
I’m originally from England Tim, though pre order prices here in Canada are astronomically high; I want them but I would not pay these prices. I would play locals only, but still want this card( but wouldn’t pay these prices), That all said, over two years I have gravitated toward towards master duels. Maybe for the best.

I feel you man. I was playing Tenpai for months and waited to buy the Trident reprint until ROTA rarity announcements. Then they announced secret Fuwalos so I sold the deck, and will just play rogue at locals.
I was very close to getting into the TCG a month ago i had a Floo deck in my shopping card for like 200 EUR in total but before i bought it i went to the only card shop near my city and even there at a purely local level almost nobody shows up for YGO anymore there were 6 people there playing and they said they're the regulars and sometimes 2 more people will show up but not every week. I love the game and franchise since i was like 10 years old but it's just not newcomer friendly at these prices when you can pick up a decent MTG commander deck for half the price.

This reminds me of the financial dilemma that occurred during Dragon Ruler format. The cost of the extra deck was the main concern for Dragon Rulers. As a result people ended up experimenting with other decks like Evilswarms. I can't help but wonder if we will see a shift in the meta concerning Mulcharmy. Like for example we could see more Infernoids and Paleozoic decks that don't use Mulcharmy.
Censored art and text localization in the TCG are enough for me to never spend money on any Komoney products. The outrageously expensive prices on cards are just rubbing polonium in the wound. Anyone who can look at either of these things and say "This is fine" have nobody but themselves to blame for the current state of the TCG. Yes, the censorship on card art and text localization matter because they substantially increase the time it takes for cards to reach the TCG. The lack of a unified banlist already slows this process down to a crawl. The TCG really doesn't need more time being wasted just because somebody thinks a female character needs her dress to be an inch longer, or because the word devil is gonna turn everybody into a bunch of Satanists. That last bit also affects Master Duel, but that's for a different topic... So they're stealing everybody's money, and wasting everybody's time, *and people still support them by buying their products despite all of this* and then act like they don't know why the TCG is a complete mess. For anybody wondering why I didn't put as much emphasis on the card prices as the card censorship, I don't think you need me to explain why spending a weeks pay on a few small pieces of shiny cardboard that may become unusable at a moments notice is beyond ridiculous.

For those who dont play ocg, recently they are semi limiting maxx c at ocg October banlist. With this change, fuwaross is basically almost mandatory at 3. Tbh, i kinda sorry for tcg player that you guys got milked by fuwaross at 3, since it will most likely going to be quite a staple (even at ocg, fuwaross as R got price spiked by a secondary market)

Master duel give you 8k gems every month if you daily log in and play the events. That’s more than enough to play meta When I sold all my branded and fusion cards it was 3K. That’s rent in the US and that’s when I changed my mind to play master duel only I also haven’t played the card game in 2 years in person due to the sexualization by the player base due to the card game. Why would I bring my nieces and nephews or future kids around this.
I'm not an Expert but I usually play stun and if you dont special summon a lot Max C Is useless, limiting or blocking their special summon and using time tearing Morganite to normal summon and draw twice might as well make u win the tournament
Being a tcg player sucks if im honest they treat us like a cash cow. However all of this boils down to card design and rarity spread in a set lower combo decks cealings and you don't need to print mega power creep cards like this that are a manditory staple to play the game. Limit cards power so you can print more genaric cards so when you open a pack you don't scroll straight to the foil see its not a secret and toss the whole pack in the trash. Opening yugioh product feels awful its not fun 8 out of 9 cards are straight garbage and 9 out of 12 packs you pull a super that isn't worth the paper its printed on 2/3 ultras every set are bulk trash not worth the pack price and half the secrets tend to market average under 6$ but 2 secrets out of the ten in the set are 40+ so 20% of the time you might pull half your value back out of a box or break even. No one wants to risk 80$ for a box to pull retail 7$ worth
Yeah, Fuwa has all but guaranteed that I can’t compete in paper, and the only thing you can do at locals is compete. Instead I’m gonna play Commander Magic in paper, and play Yugioh exclusively on Master Duel. At least on there, a UR is the same cost as every other UR.
My locals have been dropping yugioh for a year because of bad ROI. One lost its OTS status because of it. They moved on to Lorcana and One Piece, and it was a store started by yugioh players, and no random reprint set is going to save it now. The bridges are burned. Locals to me is now Master Duel and that's probably for the best.
I played against my buddy and he uses 3 copies of Mulcharmy and i already hate it. I hit Dimension Shifter with Crossout and he just chains Mulcharmy 🙄 I'm done lol
For Regionals and OTS champs you don't need this card. it's all hype and a lot of players are panicking and buying at this high price because of fear of missing out. Just don't play it go play what you like and know really well and you can top the smaller events. its the premier events that this card thrive in.
I agree with you. I was alright with buying Fiendsmith, but this is too much. Especially after we just had to pay a lot of money for Fiendsmith. If we had a set with a card that expensive once a year, but the rest of the year it's cheaper, I'm fine with it, but it's just expensive cards after expensive cards Fiendsmith Engine + 3x Fuwalos + 3x Purulia + 3x Impulse is about 800€. Staples need to be more affordable. Look at Pokémon. Different rarities of cards, and all staple trainer cards are accessible as commons. I can buy two whole Tier 1 Pokémon decks (if you get everything in min. rarity) for the price of one Fuwalos. And I mean COMPLETE. With duplicates of staples for both decks. Imagine being able to afford duplicates of staples, because they cost 0.05€. Yu-Gi-Oh! is so fun, but this is too expensive. I am not even playing a Tier 1 deck. I don't want to spend a thousand euro on a Tier 3 deck...
Honestly the solution is simple play casually until the storm passes ( expensive cards / bad metas / unfair cards or decks all of it is temporary and eventually things change ) Just go back to the roots of the game and have fun a lot of this seems to be a hyper focus on being competitive and people's not buying enough of the product but only getting singles from other players. Since people now seem to mostly rush the singles rather than buying the boxes means there is more demand for less cards available. Also for the price off 1 of these goofy jellyfish cards you can get 2 display boxes that can contain said card so in the end whats better getting a mortgage on 3 pieces of cardboard to be competitive for a few months or roughly 6 display boxes worth of cards ?
This is just a dump argumentation. "You could just not play fiendsmith, you could play tenpai instead'. Im pretty sure someone who already played chimera, memento, yubel, SE had to pay this dump SCR Tax just to play theier decks, because the oppurtunity cost to play another deck would be still higher. The problem is and was always that we dont compete with skill in the tcg, we compete with our wallets. Even if my wallet is six figure thicc, Im not willed to pay so much money on a single card. There are unfortunally so many causals in the locals who cant afford common staples or core cards, but still play. I would love to play with these people without having an advantage before the duel even started. But as long as people spend 100 Euro for 1! Card, we will always get milked by komoney....

Haven't spent a dime on this game since link summoning got announced, only play online. I don't hate links, the reason i gave-up was because of what the master ruler represented. That master rule showed me that komoney doesn't give a shit, and are not going to change.
So. The reason Im not buying or worried about the new Mulcharmys (both of them), they'll eventually be limited or banned because TCG players specifically dont know how to act. Upon buying these cards, you lose your investment in some shape, way or form, because the day will come when its "value" will drop and wont be as prevelant in the game anymore, and be power crept either by time or by a NEW busted monster. Spend $500-600 if you want, you cant argue that this game is garbage now. People WILL buy sets of this, one way or another. Nothing will change about hr meta unless they SLOW the DAMN game down.
Just play MD while fuwaross is reprinted in the megatins or rarity collection. Konami TCG has done this for so long from DAD, Crush Card, Nekroz of Brionac, etc.

Its not hard for them to just make a common release of the card as well as super rare ones. The rare ones wouldn't lose value if they did ao why dont they? If you did that fir every overpriced staple you'd get people excited to play at a higher level. Instead you gotta skip paying bills just to compete...
Just go back to how they printed half of the gx sets. Most cards came in multiple rarities. I bet partly why they don't want to do that is to create less sets like the mako or soul burner sets, where people just simply don't buy them. Over in the east, people just buy packs to open them, mostly regardless as to their value. People over here being so value conscious, I can see why they would be hesitant to change anything... Even though it is also clearly not working anymore.
I really don’t see a damn reason ehy ocg cards aren’t allowed in the tcg. They are the same cards. Either do the same prints in our boxes or allow is to use the ocg cards. Question regarding that I have never seen an english ocg card in person. How do you tell them apart?
That's not right. There are definitely English OCG prints for Asian regions outside Japan and Korea. They have the same rarity distribution as their Japanese counterparts.

Why dont MD players try duel links rush duels? i tried yesterday and... man, i never saw so much fun. the only trap that destroy is limited to one and is buyable, also there is no other traps of its kind, majority of traps are debuff of atk, and its kind 400-600 -atk Its you or the oponent, you can construct bests deck earlier this october. NO HAND TRAPS, NO QUICK SPELLS, NO EFFECT FROM GRAVE, NO BANISHMENT, DRAW 5, SHUFFLE FROM GY TO DECK. That's a thing you dont see in every deck at MD
duel links has one of the most insufferable grinds for F2P, rush doesn't exist in the west outside of within duel links, playing in real life in person with other people is fun. This game is fun as hell and I'd never stop playing it if it didn't cost so damn much to play the good decks.
And Konami wonders why they can't get new players into the game.

this is why i stopped playing the physical card game as well. There is no reason a competitive deck in yugioh needs to be 1k or more dollars.

That's how it's 'free" because every new account offloads a ton of free gems at the beginning so people get multiple free decks by making multiple accounts so they guy is half true. Too much work just to avoid not spending any money for me. I don't mind buy gem packs because I get better value from pulls, I am not buying physical anymore, and the crafting system makes it easier to get the cards I need.
Honestly I'm just going to stick to speed duel format for awhile since that format is slower and has a lower power level. I know it's not really supported by Konami anymore, but it's a format me and my friends really enjoy playing together. Screw the TCG.
Sad thing is that this isnt new. Yugioh is just way too expensive to actually compete

Honestly this is why I play Boss Monster format. The extra Deck can only be archetype and no hand traps are allowed. It makes things a lot better than this trash current format.

I would play locals only, but still want this card( but wouldn’t pay these prices), That all said, over two years I have gravitated toward towards master duels. Maybe for the best.

I feel you man. I was playing Tenpai for months and waited to buy the Trident reprint until ROTA rarity announcements.
Then they announced secret Fuwalos so I sold the deck, and will just play rogue at locals.

I was very close to getting into the TCG a month ago i had a Floo deck in my shopping card for like 200 EUR in total but before i bought it i went to the only card shop near my city and even there at a purely local level almost nobody shows up for YGO anymore there were 6 people there playing and they said they're the regulars and sometimes 2 more people will show up but not every week.
I love the game and franchise since i was like 10 years old but it's just not newcomer friendly at these prices when you can pick up a decent MTG commander deck for half the price.

This reminds me of the financial dilemma that occurred during Dragon Ruler format. The cost of the extra deck was the main concern for Dragon Rulers. As a result people ended up experimenting with other decks like Evilswarms. I can't help but wonder if we will see a shift in the meta concerning Mulcharmy. Like for example we could see more Infernoids and Paleozoic decks that don't use Mulcharmy.
Censored art and text localization in the TCG are enough for me to never spend money on any Komoney products. The outrageously expensive prices on cards are just rubbing polonium in the wound. Anyone who can look at either of these things and say "This is fine" have nobody but themselves to blame for the current state of the TCG. Yes, the censorship on card art and text localization matter because they substantially increase the time it takes for cards to reach the TCG. The lack of a unified banlist already slows this process down to a crawl. The TCG really doesn't need more time being wasted just because somebody thinks a female character needs her dress to be an inch longer, or because the word devil is gonna turn everybody into a bunch of Satanists. That last bit also affects Master Duel, but that's for a different topic...
So they're stealing everybody's money, and wasting everybody's time, *and people still support them by buying their products despite all of this* and then act like they don't know why the TCG is a complete mess.
For anybody wondering why I didn't put as much emphasis on the card prices as the card censorship, I don't think you need me to explain why spending a weeks pay on a few small pieces of shiny cardboard that may become unusable at a moments notice is beyond ridiculous.

For those who dont play ocg, recently they are semi limiting maxx c at ocg October banlist. With this change, fuwaross is basically almost mandatory at 3. Tbh, i kinda sorry for tcg player that you guys got milked by fuwaross at 3, since it will most likely going to be quite a staple (even at ocg, fuwaross as R got price spiked by a secondary market)

Master duel give you 8k gems every month if you daily log in and play the events. That’s more than enough to play meta
When I sold all my branded and fusion cards it was 3K. That’s rent in the US and that’s when I changed my mind to play master duel only
I also haven’t played the card game in 2 years in person due to the sexualization by the player base due to the card game. Why would I bring my nieces and nephews or future kids around this.
I'm not an Expert but I usually play stun and if you dont special summon a lot Max C Is useless, limiting or blocking their special summon and using time tearing Morganite to normal summon and draw twice might as well make u win the tournament
I hope OCG will kill maxx c outright. Doing full combo and then dropping Maxx C in opponent's draw phase is disgusting.
Being a tcg player sucks if im honest they treat us like a cash cow. However all of this boils down to card design and rarity spread in a set lower combo decks cealings and you don't need to print mega power creep cards like this that are a manditory staple to play the game. Limit cards power so you can print more genaric cards so when you open a pack you don't scroll straight to the foil see its not a secret and toss the whole pack in the trash.
Opening yugioh product feels awful its not fun 8 out of 9 cards are straight garbage and 9 out of 12 packs you pull a super that isn't worth the paper its printed on 2/3 ultras every set are bulk trash not worth the pack price and half the secrets tend to market average under 6$ but 2 secrets out of the ten in the set are 40+ so 20% of the time you might pull half your value back out of a box or break even. No one wants to risk 80$ for a box to pull retail 7$ worth
Yeah, Fuwa has all but guaranteed that I can’t compete in paper, and the only thing you can do at locals is compete. Instead I’m gonna play Commander Magic in paper, and play Yugioh exclusively on Master Duel. At least on there, a UR is the same cost as every other UR.
My locals have been dropping yugioh for a year because of bad ROI. One lost its OTS status because of it. They moved on to Lorcana and One Piece, and it was a store started by yugioh players, and no random reprint set is going to save it now. The bridges are burned. Locals to me is now Master Duel and that's probably for the best.
I played against my buddy and he uses 3 copies of Mulcharmy and i already hate it.
I hit Dimension Shifter with Crossout and he just chains Mulcharmy 🙄 I'm done lol
For Regionals and OTS champs you don't need this card. it's all hype and a lot of players are panicking and buying at this high price because of fear of missing out. Just don't play it go play what you like and know really well and you can top the smaller events. its the premier events that this card thrive in.
All I do is digital games nowadays. Ygo MD, mtgArena, Snap, soon Pokemon Pocket. I’m done with regular TCGs.
They might as well unban maxx c rather than this, yeah it is more toxic, but at least people could get it for cheat on the next speed duel set
I agree with you. I was alright with buying Fiendsmith, but this is too much. Especially after we just had to pay a lot of money for Fiendsmith. If we had a set with a card that expensive once a year, but the rest of the year it's cheaper, I'm fine with it, but it's just expensive cards after expensive cards Fiendsmith Engine + 3x Fuwalos + 3x Purulia + 3x Impulse is about 800€. Staples need to be more affordable. Look at Pokémon. Different rarities of cards, and all staple trainer cards are accessible as commons. I can buy two whole Tier 1 Pokémon decks (if you get everything in min. rarity) for the price of one Fuwalos. And I mean COMPLETE. With duplicates of staples for both decks.
Imagine being able to afford duplicates of staples, because they cost 0.05€. Yu-Gi-Oh! is so fun, but this is too expensive. I am not even playing a Tier 1 deck. I don't want to spend a thousand euro on a Tier 3 deck...
Honestly the solution is simple play casually until the storm passes ( expensive cards / bad metas / unfair cards or decks all of it is temporary and eventually things change )
Just go back to the roots of the game and have fun a lot of this seems to be a hyper focus on being competitive and people's not buying enough of the product but only getting singles from other players.
Since people now seem to mostly rush the singles rather than buying the boxes means there is more demand for less cards available.
Also for the price off 1 of these goofy jellyfish cards you can get 2 display boxes that can contain said card so in the end whats better getting a mortgage on 3 pieces of cardboard to be competitive for a few months or roughly 6 display boxes worth of cards ?

This is just a dump argumentation. "You could just not play fiendsmith, you could play tenpai instead'. Im pretty sure someone who already played chimera, memento, yubel, SE had to pay this dump SCR Tax just to play theier decks, because the oppurtunity cost to play another deck would be still higher.
The problem is and was always that we dont compete with skill in the tcg, we compete with our wallets. Even if my wallet is six figure thicc, Im not willed to pay so much money on a single card. There are unfortunally so many causals in the locals who cant afford common staples or core cards, but still play. I would love to play with these people without having an advantage before the duel even started.
But as long as people spend 100 Euro for 1! Card, we will always get milked by komoney....

Haven't spent a dime on this game since link summoning got announced, only play online. I don't hate links, the reason i gave-up was because of what the master ruler represented. That master rule showed me that komoney doesn't give a shit, and are not going to change.

So. The reason Im not buying or worried about the new Mulcharmys (both of them), they'll eventually be limited or banned because TCG players specifically dont know how to act. Upon buying these cards, you lose your investment in some shape, way or form, because the day will come when its "value" will drop and wont be as prevelant in the game anymore, and be power crept either by time or by a NEW busted monster. Spend $500-600 if you want, you cant argue that this game is garbage now. People WILL buy sets of this, one way or another. Nothing will change about hr meta unless they SLOW the DAMN game down.

Its not hard for them to just make a common release of the card as well as super rare ones. The rare ones wouldn't lose value if they did ao why dont they? If you did that fir every overpriced staple you'd get people excited to play at a higher level. Instead you gotta skip paying bills just to compete...

Just go back to how they printed half of the gx sets. Most cards came in multiple rarities. I bet partly why they don't want to do that is to create less sets like the mako or soul burner sets, where people just simply don't buy them.
Over in the east, people just buy packs to open them, mostly regardless as to their value. People over here being so value conscious, I can see why they would be hesitant to change anything... Even though it is also clearly not working anymore.
I really don’t see a damn reason ehy ocg cards aren’t allowed in the tcg. They are the same cards. Either do the same prints in our boxes or allow is to use the ocg cards.

That's not right. There are definitely English OCG prints for Asian regions outside Japan and Korea. They have the same rarity distribution as their Japanese counterparts.

I wanted to try Rush in DL but it's DL with skills and all. I guess I wanted Rush experience without skills.
duel links has one of the most insufferable grinds for F2P, rush doesn't exist in the west outside of within duel links, playing in real life in person with other people is fun. This game is fun as hell and I'd never stop playing it if it didn't cost so damn much to play the good decks.
