I miss those times back when there was classic traction. Now it's pretty much wall-to-wall Waratah Sets on 75% of the suburban network the other 25% being Tangaras and K Sets
What a magnificent record of a different time. The sights and sounds of trains at these locations took me back to those days of train travel that was fun and seemed a lot busier then. Found this by accident, thankful I did!
Crazy to see that Newtown tram depot looked so run down even 30 years ago. Massive mistake to move to an entirely double deck fleet, we should have kept a mix and we should have been building more infra to remove bottlenecks, even back then it was clear where we were headed.
back in the 80s some peak services to gosford/wyong newcastle were run by 10 car double decks they mainly only ran to and from gosford then divided/amalgamated there and 6 cars continued onto wyong/newcastle
@@knightman1970 Awesome! Thanks for the info. Never knew about these services, then in a single day I see this, and see a fairly long thread on a rail page about 10 car V Sets ... spooky. ;)
Ahh, the good old days when trains were timetabled to run at normal speed, and even a DEB set thrown in.. gold!
Wow… is all I can say. Absolutely GREAT footage, Allan! Oh some great memories from this footage. Will watch on repeat 👍🏻
#$#n BEAUTIFUL piece of work there mate. Time machine stuff.
Keep them coming - great videos - just how it was back in the day.
Fantastic video mate, great variety of the NSW trains from the old days
Very rare footage of the former Sandown line. All gone now. Great video.
Much like The Carlingford line itself as a heavy rail route sadly.

I think you captured literally everything in this video! Even a 10-car V set. (27:51)
I really enjoyed the video good sound too.

Nice opening, Burwood without the highrise but what is the deal with all the station skipping?

17:27 ... Is that 10-car V Set? Wow! would it have been a transfer, or normal service. Never heard of such a thing!
EDIT: And another at 50:18!
