Gotta give the audience some credit though....this is in Lithuania! THEY STILL SOUND GREAT! I bet many don't even speak English...in fact you can hear areas where they didn't quite know the exact words, but they went for it anyway!

Pretty much most Lithuanians can speak English... to be honest singing wise.. Lithuanians, as well as Estonians and Latvians have this singing culture.. they all pretty much sing in choirs throughout school from 1st grade until college.

I don’t know how McFerrin was ever able to swallow an MPC, an 808, and an Autotune plug-in all those years ago, but it’s impressive that neither the circuits nor his anatomy were damaged when he did.😂

I think the most interesting thing for me is the last note of the song. The way the audience splits into a harmony; one half of them following the original melody of the song, and the other half singing the note Bobby sings. Knowing Bobby, you know that was definitely intentional. Such a creative man!

Actually Booby is singing the 5th, but you can hear the audience sing a 1st _and_ a 3rd! (And also potentially a 5th like Bobby but I can't hear it) He let the audience actually make the chord resolved, otherwise his own note would be somewhat ambiguous; the melody really ends on the 1st, so I'm not sure why anyone is even singing a third, but it's awesome!
Edit: ain't no way I wrote "Booby" lol

  • @sunsp.t
    @sunsp.t 11 років тому +1

It's wrong because Bobby McFerrin has the ability to sing multiple notes at once, and that is what he is doing here. It is impossible to cleanly switch an octaver on and off as would be necessary. There's a video of Drive where Bobby hits 3 notes at once, so clearly he has the ability. All of Bobby's solo shows are simply him and a mic with no vocal effects added aside from basic reverb and compression.

I can see clearly now the rain is gone
I can see all obstacles in my way
Gone are the dark clouds that had me blind
It's gonna be a bright (bright)
    Bright (bright) sunshiny day
It's gonna be a bright (bright)
    Bright (bright) sunshiny day
Oh, yes I can make it now the pain is gone
All of the bad feelings have disappeared
Here is that rainbow I've been praying for
It's gonna be a bright (bright)
    Bright (bright) sunshiny day
look all around, there's nothing but blue skies
Look straight ahead, there's nothing but blue skies
I can see clearly now the rain is gone
I can see all obstacles in my way
Here is that rainbow I've been praying for
It's gonna be a bright (bright)
    Bright (bright) sunshiny day
It's gonna be a bright (bright)
    Bright (bright) sunshiny day
    Bri-ri-ri-ri', bright, (bright)
Bright (bright) sunshiny day, yeah, eh
It's gonna be a bright (bright)
    Bright (bright) sunshiny day
It's gonna be a bright (bright)
Bright (bright) sunshiny day, yeah, na
It's gonna be a bright (bright)
    Bright (bright) sunshiny day
    Bri-ri-ri-ri', bright (bright)
    Bright (bright) sunshiny...

@Richard Albert: What are talking about? The crowd was singing. They may have not been singing loud, but they were singing. The proof was in the last note. Man it sounded awesome.

Instead of having McFerrin on the Jumbotron, they should have had the lyrics to the song.

I saw him at Carnegie Hall in April 1987 and he is such a brilliant man. He did his condensed version of The Wizard of Oz, which I hope is somewhere here on UA-cam.........

I figured him out. He's wanting to be several voices so much he punches them out of himself. And he comes divinely close.

    Few people only sing 🎤
Because those people who never participate are ignorant to real music ... how sad ‘
All they know are looping DJ music and monotonous notes that’ keeps repeating for 20 minutes until they go Numb
They just sat there and feel out of place. Lol 😂
