  • An extensive comparison between a lot of "broadcast" style dynamic mic, handheld dynamics, and a few condensers vs the Rode Podmic USB! It's long and repetitive, but it should be helpful if you are looking at buying a mic like this!
    Thanks for watching the Audio Hotline! I'll see you Audio Nerds next time!

    This was an AWESOME video. I loved the thoroughness of it, but also the humour while retaining accuracy. You’ve really helped me make a purchasing decision - thanks!

    The best review channel I’ve seen so far, and since I’m planning to buy a new mic, I watched a looot of reviews, you are on another level, may I ask you what in your opinion sounds better, the podmic usb or the Mv7x, I was going to buy the new Mv7+ but some people says that on usb it sound worse (contrary of the Mv7) and better on xlr, so at that point I would just buy the Mv7x and save some bucks, I’m Italian btw I hope my English is readable..😅

    I can get weird with it 🥺👉👈
    Thanks for the great comparison! I still keep looking for my next mic that will handle some of the characteristics of my voice (which is quite low, for the most part), specifically sibilance. My favorite currently is the Stellar X2 for 90% of my voice, but for the aspects that start going into a bit higher frequencies.. well.. I keep looking for one thatll handle it better.
    Its proven a difficult journey without just buying a ton of mics lol

      The LS208 could be the answer with it’s 8k LP & 50 HP! The LS208 is fantastic. A little more pricey but great.

      Thank you! You can also download the raw audio file in the description and kind of go at your own pace/put certain mics against each other!

    Do you like the MV7 better? I'm mainly using it for online course instruction and recording. I need it to be USB and portable. Would you put the Shure MV7 over the PodMic USB? Thanks!

    A great review, thank you very much. Do you prefer podmic usb or nt1 5th generation? Thank you very much in advance for your answer.

      if you are primarily focused on podcasting, streaming, and content creation, especially in an untreated room, I would lean toward the PodMic USB. If you are wanting a mic for voice over or singing vocals, I would go with the NT1 5th gen.
      Thanks for watching!

    Man, the super subtle differences between the MV7 and PodMic...it's so hard to choose!

    • @AudioHotline
      @AudioHotline  7 місяців тому +2

      I lean toward Røde on that. The Podmic USB is cheaper, the XLR and USB sound is consistent (mv7’s XLR sound isn’t as good as its USB sound), and also I like the rode connect software way more than MOTIV.

      The "Pickled Peanutses" count has to be at least 55 🤣. While editing this, I was very sick of hearing it lol.
      Yeah, when I listened back to it, it sounded weird! Not like I remembered.

    Shouldn't you be speaking directly into each microphone (rather than past them, at an angle) to really know how it handles plosives?

    • @AudioHotline
      @AudioHotline  2 місяці тому +1

      Everyone should angle the mic a bit... but for anyone who doesn't I do my plosive test completely on axis.

  • @enriquekahn9405

    Bronson I love you but I can't critically listen to that trainwreck of a mic for nearly 30 minutes

    • @AudioHotline
      @AudioHotline  9 місяців тому +3

      Technically you would only have to listen to it for 15 minutes 😜🤣 I am just joking. It’s definitely for people considering the PodMic USB and it doesn’t sound like you would ever want it lol.
      My whole point of this video is that it really is only for people who want DSP where they can alter the sound and like the usefulness of rode software. Listening to this video more and more made me realize how much better most of the mics sound out of the box than it. It is easy to get distracted by the features that Rode offers.
