I’ve thought about making some kind of sleeper banjo that looks like an s model guitar but has a five string banjo setup. It would sound like an electric guitar though.
Would be amazing to get one of these , to bad u discontinued it. I really think you have something here especially the tunnel drone that's a great innovation as well. maybe revisit this u may be surprised if you market it the right way I think it's a genius idea .
How does it sound when it's run through an amp. Disregarding the acoustic sound, does it sound more like an electric guitar or does the banjo tone come through?
I have watched this video so many times because I love the way this banjo sounds AND the way he plays it 😀 Is the ANY chance anyone out there knows how I could get my hands on one of the tone rings he used here? Or something like it? The last I heard this banjo kit was discontinued?
I love how the acoustic banjos so round it’s so hard to play but the electric ones are like much easier to because they’re some what shaped like a guitar LOL.
Love your stuff, man,,, I wish I knew why you discontinued the electrics... someone contact you about patents, or too much work for the money etc.? I know Nechville and Gold Tone have them... the thing I hate about Deering is how he unfairly patents things that need fighting against. Things that are just basic concept or even things people on forums will attest to having done for 60 years already like the "smile bridge" that is sanded slightly convex, a a flat piece under the bridge, and others. But the mountain men didn't patent them 100 years ago and Deering has his crew find every, little, intuitive thing there's not enough, immediate evidence to show is totally, ubiquitously pre-existing -- and he patents them (knowing full well people already do it and just don't document it well).
Thanks for your interest Jeff. I stopped the electric banjos by my own choice and I always believed I was offering something different from existing patents. The time to profit ratio just wasnt there and I have since solely focused on my simple banjo kits. I hope someday to bring electric banjos back when the timing is right. Patents are a tricky thing because the common man might be able to secure a patent but he most likely could never afford to defend his patent in a court situation. Anyway, I am up against the bigger companies and several have started to notice me and contact me, they want my products or to offer kits like mine, but they realize I have already priced them out of the market with my low prices. I realize I dont need to work with anyone for my success because its my customers that allow my success, and Im very grateful for this.
This has a Tunneled 5th string like those old Zither Banjos, definitely a throwback to the past.
I keep coming back to this video and listening to this banjo because it sounds so good! Great work! I hope to buy one from you someday :)

Hey man this thing looks solid. questions about the 6 string - is it a banjitar or a 5/6 banjo ?

I like that he took it away from the traditional banjo look. Let it be its own thing. Different colors would be cool too.
what was the last song you played ?
Kalign Stacks rosin the beau

weirdest thing.
as i watch this and listen i smell wood glue and varnish. O.o
Talk about a dying breed of people, you can’t beat a custom crafted instrument! All of these new mass produced instruments are overpriced garbage
