it is true only for eastern sicily and the italian regions on the ionian sea, whereas in western sicily and the rest of italy the main ancestry is roman
Where did you read this idiocy? Then again It has been 2500 years that Greeks disapperead from history now they Just steal to others like you accuse macedonians,. Sicily has became Roman, since then, then italian and even norman. If there have been some Greek ancestry Is disappeared. Also this guy looks Sicilian, Greeks look Turks today.
I have always found Sicily's Greek origins fascinating and I could see the ties between Sicily and Greece having visited both places many times. I was really enjoying this video up to 2:55 at which point I refused to watch any more after I heard the most generalized and offensive comments . Is that how you categorize all Italians? That we all avoid work and take siestas? I have some news for you; we work damn hard in Italy and work very long days. It's obvious you guys (or your parents) knew little or nothing about Italy when you immigrated to Australia. Videos should be made professionally when discussing topics such as the one this video, but unfortunately this video was not made professionally. If you have a shred of respect for your Italian origins, you would remove this video from UA-cam and fill in the huge gaps of knowledge you have about Italy.
Don't take this personally, but your comments are quite pathetic. Firstly, bullshit that videos on UA-cam should be made "professionally" when discussing topics such as this one. What the hell does that even mean? This is UA-cam, not a university lecture! It's a free resource that anyone is free to publish on and watch or listen on. Nothing needs to be "professional". If you want to listen to scholars discussing the history of ancient Greece and Sicily or their modern day customs then I'm sure you can search for that on here and find something more "professional" for your taste. The fact is, these are 4 guys just shooting the breeze about what they have seen and experienced, and, yes, generalizing. So what? Don't like it? Move on. Go make your own video or podcast about the topic and correct the record for posterity. As if we've done some great disservice to Italian and Greek culture here! FFS! While the discussion about not working hard is very generalized in its nature, the fact is that it exists in the regions that we are discussing, it's quite common, and we have seen and experienced it. It may not be your experience, and that is great. To answer your question: no, that is not how we generalize about all Italians. We are discussing Sicily and Greece, and generalizing about them. There's a hint in the title of the video. Why the hell do people take this stuff so seriously and get so easily triggered and offended over shit that is so trivial and unimportant in the scheme of things? Get a fricken life! For someone whose hero is Carl Sagan, you clearly fail to see the simple fact that none of this video means anything or matters at all in the grand scheme of things on this pale blue dot suspended in a beam of light. It's insignificant and irrelevant, just a simple exchange of ideas and a passing of time that you needn't worry about. It won't hurt you. We promise! The only thing about this video that should be removed from UA-cam is your viewing of it. You're too easily triggered. It's clearly too much for you to handle. But thanks for watching! 🤣
The most funny part is that a guy Who has Greek ancestry speaks of italians as if Greeks were north European like and hard workers...ahahahah Meanwhile Italy and especially North and Central Italy have a pil and standard of Life that bankrupt Greeks can only dream of. 😂😂
Sydney Road Brunswick doesn't have potholes? Heaps more roads are terrible. I'm now living in Thailand. Roads are amazing in comparison. Quality of life as well. Even on Thai wages
"if you didn't take a siesta and work, bla bla bla...." please, do you even listen to yourselves? There are not that many jobs over there to begin with...that's why many Sicilians leave to go to some other country to work... for the same reasons your parents went to Australia and mine went to the U.S. Stop generalizing, it sounds condescending.
Pete, we give 0 fucks about offending you. This is a video that's a couple years old, that means fuck all, is purely joking around and shooting the shit, and was never meant to be a university lecture on the social dynamics of Greece and Sicily. It doesn't affect your life or ours, we promise. But the people getting offended over a meaningless old 6-minute video make us laugh out loud!
the ignorance, the superficial uninformed conclusions and the overall low intelligence in this video are just so painfully obvious that it makes you see the convict origins of australia

Then the Romans, The Spaniards, and Normans. I found out thru DNA I am 85% southern Italian and 8% Greek
You guys are generalizing to the point where you are becoming grossly inaccurate about both countries. I understand some of you may be comedians but…
Don't take it too seriously mate. It's not a cultural history lecture. Just having a laugh.

Your uncle made you a Panathinaikos fan?
Poor guy.
It’s better be a Panathinaikos fan than an ancestor of 6th American fleet.
Sicily over Greek Islands??? That's blasphemous
