Now THAT is cool. Pete at Just a Few Acres Farm does a lot (not all) of hay cutting with his rear-mount sickle bar mower, but he doesn't have nearly the acreage not amount of other work as you.
That little 3010 with the sickle mower is very cool. Love that canopy, I tried googling the name of the fabrication company that was on the back but I couldn't find anybody. Must be one of those sketchy overseas companies that are here one day and gone the next. Lol Take it easy Mike
Thank you. Yeah I'm sure back in the 60s when the tractor and mower was new this was quite the set up. Its great having my son out there with me learning
I started out with a model 10 (?) side mounted mower on a two cylinder and pulling a conditioner, just twenty years ago. Brings back memories. Its amazing how much ground I can cover now with a discbine vs the old sickle bar.
I love seeing the classic equipment in action. 3010, maybe some day maybe the 520. Must have had a really busy day, your face is giving that away. It is really good to see youth interested in agriculture.
Great Video Mike, there's always someone who will tell you how to farm better, the key thing to remember is what makes you different! in your case it's John deere tractors, I love Fords! stick to what makes you strong, thanks for sharing
I’ve used a 4020 with a side mower to cut under fences and such.. it looks to be the same as that what you have. Great video. Can’t wait for chopping corn..
If you want fast regrow of youre grass this is by far the best way to cut grass but it works slow as you already mentioned ,but a little jalous i am for not having such a Nice setup, keep them coming greetings from a Dutch dairyfarmer
Someone’s head just exploded 😂 I still have our old, I think it’s a 48 sickle bar mower. Grumpus was doing something with it before he died, but for the life of me I can’t remember what it was. And if we’re being honest here, I’m not sure he knew either. We used to mow ditches with it after my grandfather bought the Haybine, but it’s been sitting for years now. I don’t even know where the PTO shaft is for it, or if I can even get parts for it at this point. I got some downtime this week, maybe I’ll mess around with it
I remember when they had the sickle bar mowers for trimming ditches and along fences! Nice you get fan mail! This may be the first year I haven't seen you roasting in the barn stacking square bales!
@@mikep7810 I have enjoyed your videos so much over the years, I wish I lived closer as I would take some time to help you at least once in appreciation!
@@mikep7810 yes and frankly the 520 is a real monster of a tractor it pulls everything without problem and it manages to go up to 10 when mowing the blade is 2.4 meters
Who cares if you have weeds. You are a dairy farmer not a weed farmer. If others have an issue instead of complaining maybe they should come help you with weed removal ifnit bothers them so much JMO! Every farm I ever worked in NY had weeds, they grow faster than you can cut em.
Thank you Nole. Its something we got busy and neglected. Hopefully with the mower back on the 3010 its something we can get back into staying on top of
Great video for an old hand like me who srarted off with finger bar mowers
Thanks Rob
That is a very nice Canopy….looks good on there
It sure is. Definitely makes the tractor look good
Great outfit for reaching under fences and around obstacles. Really nice letter, as well. Keep the PO box, for suprises like that. 👍🤞
Thanks Morgan. I decided to keep it. Always nice to get those surprises
Great video Mike won't be long and your son will be able to take care of that for the farm
Thank you Paul. He is doing more and more
Just keep doing your best, you're doing great, those of us who farm understand all too well.
Thank you. I appreciate the kind words. I know the ones who truly know what its like to farm understand
Now THAT is cool. Pete at Just a Few Acres Farm does a lot (not all) of hay cutting with his rear-mount sickle bar mower, but he doesn't have nearly the acreage not amount of other work as you.
That's cool he still uses a sickle bar
I love seeing a 3010 doing 3010 things. Love the channel. I don't comment as much as i should.
I appreciate it. I'll have to show more videos with the 3010
Mike greeting, amazing tractor 🚜 🚜 👍💪🙂
Thank you Carlos
I think you do a great job Mike
Thank you John. I really appreciate it
Great video 👍🏾 thank goodness for the canopy.
Thanks Clint. Great canopy for sure
I keep a John Deere 38.semi mount on H Farmall its handy for some job it is handy
I can see where its going to be handy

Haha thanks Adam. I think its a specialty fabrication outfit that you need to be on a waiting list for. Like getting a motorcycle from Jesse James!
Great vid of machine's I suppose many years ago they were used for all the mowing jobs 😀
Looks great your boy is interested in farm work 👍

Yeah I haven't mowed with a sickle bar mower for many years so it made me realize how spoiled I've been with a discbine

I was underneath the 3010 a lot getting things hooked up. I didn't realize how filthy I was until I got back from mowing and was sending a snap chat

Thanks Tony. You are going to have to stay tuned since you love Ford tractors. I have a good video planned coming up soon that I think you will like
Awesome vid! I haven't seen a side mount mower for years! They do serve a purpose
Very helpful cleaning up hedgerows and fence lines
Back in the 70s I used the same model on a 4020 and pulled a crimper 😊
That sounds like a nice set up
Nice mower setup Mike and great letter from Joel. Take care and have a blessed week my friend
Thank you. It was great getting Joel's letter. He did a great job with the pictures too

Thanks Rick. Will be chopping corn soon
I know new York soil is heavy so it be a challenge but the 3010 on the plow would killer to see
I'm sure it would handle a small plow and look good in an antique plow days
I know who made that canopy! Quality work there!
Craftsmanship at its finest!
👍👍
Thanks John

we always used a sickle bar mower around the fence lines to keep the woods from growing in
We've gotten way behind on it. Hopefully now that the mower is back on it motivates us to keep up with it

Will still use are number 10mower . I mow alot hay with that mower
It was nice to get the old mower out there
Nice Side Mower and Mike Batwing Mowers are good for cleaning up crappie spots
Thank you. A batwing mower would be really handy

Why don't they use that field? It looks like a good size field.
Use to be an old pasture. They don't have cows anymore
Have you thought about getting some goats, they eat just about anything.
No, I haven't given goats much thought
