Just noting if you haven't already figured it. You must 'equip via right clicking gear' you give to your companion, or they wont use it. Companion gear that is equipped, has a small BLUE dot showing in their inventory. i didn't see your companion wielding at least an axe to help you fight. Also a tip: After you get your umbrella, you can wield your skinning knife with the umbrella and use the "right mouse button special ability of the knife" to dash forward. This gives you many advantages like jumping up > dash > use umbrella > travel much further. Also dash ability helps you jump further when climbing stuff. Cheers, love you videos : )
